Yujis voice actor is objectively one of the most underrated ones I’ve ever seen, even at the very start he was putting his whole soul into it. The main reason I can never watch the dub isn’t even cause it’s bad, it’s just cause the sub va for yuji puts so many lil extra details or tones that just fit him perfectly 🙏 Itadori Yuji been the goat since day 1 🦦
The "inner demon" trope is done really well in this show and not like most other shonen in that regard. Like a lot of others have said JJK starts off similarly to other battle shonen, but quickly differentiates itself imo which is why it's gotten as popular as it has.
Since you love Bleach, JJK is definitely the right anime for you. I can tell you were paying close attention to the plot already which is great. The author doesn't like to repeat info but everything is connected, so if you watch passively you'll easily get lost. I'm surprised you didn't recognize Grimmjow's voice though when Sukuna took over Yuji's body! 😂

No spoilers obviously, but season 1 is some solid shonen, a lot of world building and fun characters. Once you get further into the series and a lot of setup is out the way, the story starts picking up and starts to shine
Season 1 is alright, but season 2 is an absolute masterpiece, one of the best pieces of media I have EVER consumed. The payoff is gigantic, I hope you'll enjoy ❤

Oh don't worry. Keep comparing it to bleach. Massive JJK fans are almost all massive Bleach fans. It really is just this generation's bleach, the "darker, edgier" counterpart to things like Demon Slayer, while still taking itself seriously and not just being a parody of the genre. It also completely wears its influences on its sleeve and isn't afraid to reference and nod to what came before, ands yeah, that's often Bleach.
For example, if you don't like worm , the negative energy of your reaction gonna create a curse that take form of a Worm. In Japan (in this Anime), a lot of negative energy exist and that create many kind of Curse. Even Earth Curse/ Human Curse / volcano Curse etc...
It’s a great show and we’ll written. Definitely not your typical shonen anime. It’s definitely it’s own thing the farther you get into it. Honestly, it gets better and better over time.

The author Gege Akutami, author of jujutsu kaisen, was inspired by several works: naruto, Evangelion, Bleach. Yu Yu hakusho and HunterxHunter are his main base. Bleach is inspired by Yu Yu hakusho. The author Yushihiro Togashi is a genius, he created concepts that many other authors use. Gege also draws a lot of inspiration from Japanese mythology.

I think the curses and barriers actually is more similar to the Night beyond tricornered Window by Tomoko Yamashita, an author whose works Gege also liked. The horror elements and emotional beats of that manga is really good

Demon Slayer , Jujutsu Kaisen , Chainsaw Man are the biggest modern shonen anime. They are must watch shows. Along with upcoming shonen in 2024 like Solo Levelling, Kaiju No 8 , Dandadan etc . are also gonna be very popular. So do check them out.
Season 2 is peak, and its highs eclipse season 1’s highs several times over, but it has some underlying production issues that will boil your blood if you research it. There was some missed potential in season 2 as a result, but with only two episodes left in the season as of typing this, it’s safe to say that season 2 was still incredible as a whole.
Generally speaking the JJK community is pretty good at accepting that Bleach is an obvious influence. It’s pretty stupid to deny it but Gege makes many decisions that make JJK it’s own.
Feel like a lot of anime fans do this but a lot of this stuff is just mythology and Japanese culture rather it being based off of Bleach. Like Naruto for example, people see the hand signs and the nine tails and think any show that does that is copying Naruto. But really the Gumiho and all that ninja stuff isn't new. I mean you got Ninja Scroll and Basilisk is pretty much Naruto but more serious and I'm pretty sure both predate it. The whole Gumiho thing isn't even related to just Japan and isn't the only fox demon thing. Feel like it's the same with the spirit thing. Really to me the only things that are similar are the concept of spirit hunting and the fact there are spirits. Also some character tropes now that I think about it. Some of the looks for characters are kind of common stereotypes. like in America cops in movies tend to have that cop moustache and wear aviators and that wide brim hat. Same thing really. Not saying these shows don't have unique stuff just they have inspirations different than what ppl tend to think.
Bro the compairson of JJK to Bleach is an HONOR!!! Bleach has solidified it's place among the Big 3. It's a titan of anime. I think it's awesome that JJK took inspiration from Bleach. It's cool to see those concepts explored in a different light.
This show is incredible, the first season just the beginning to what the actual story is, it’s very much it’s own thing but that doesn’t fully get realized until the moment season 2 starts since that’s where the story goes into the reality of the story 🦦

Ok, lets see, we got, Scissors Seven, Demon Slayer, Hells Paradise, Mob Psycho 100, Overlord. these are the first that comes to my mind at the moment. I do recommend Demon Slayer because its not that long and not too confusing like some other anime. Scissors Seven is really humorous, so I recommend that if you like funny things. This is a case where I prefer the anime, when it comes to the start of the story. To me it feels very rushed in the manga. The anime makes it flow a lot better

So, I’m going to try my best to give a brief explanation (PLEASE hardcore JJK fans, give me a break if I butchered some of the info) to how cursed works and what it is. Trust me, it’s a complex power system that is very hard to explain to someone. Since I only watch the anime, my knowledge on it isn’t as deep as those who read the manga. I won’t add any spoilers. To explain the power system, what I’ve gotten from the show is that cursed energy comes from the stigma of negative emotions of humans (obviously lol). Cursed energy is a form of negative energy and can be used to enhance the physical abilities of humans and Cursed Spirits, such as durability, strength, and speed. They also give birth to cursed spirits, which have a soul so it can be assumed that the soul and cursed energy are connected. I don’t know if people would consider this a spoiler so *SPOILER* Reversed Cursed Energy and Technique. This form of cursed energy is the result of multiplying the negative cursed energy against itself to produce positive energy and the base power reverse cursed techniques will always be 2x as potent due to this multiplication. Imagine that you use a cursed technique or just cursed energy with its base power being expressed by -2 (since it’s negative energy). If you use your reverse cursed technique or just reverse cursed energy, the energy base power will be expressed as 4 (due to it being positive energy. -2 x -2 = 4). Unlike cursed energy, which can still amp the body, it can be used to heal Cursed Spirits are the result of tons of cursed energy concentrated into certain points. The attributes, techniques, and nature of the cursed spirit all depend on what negative emotions generated the cursed energy. For example, the cursed energy produced from negative emotions associated with the fear of insects will give rise to a cursed spirit that essentially embodies the fear of insects and how strong those emotions are will determine its grade level. So places like a battle field of a war or prison can give birth to some pretty nasty Cursed Spirits. To simply, they’re the embodiment of specific negative human emotions (important to keep in mind). The flow of cursed energy from Jujutsu sorcerers and Curse Users is different and doesn’t leak and because of this, it allows them to be able to manifest/use cursed techniques and the specific one carved into their soul. Being a form of negative energy, most techniques using cursed energy are associated with negative things. For example, a cursed technique that allows you to manipulate gravity by nullifying it or lessening it’s pull. This would be seen as something associated with the concept of negative since it’s negating gravity. You can also embed a curse into objects as well.
gonna say it, no hate to bleach but jjk is what I wish bleach had been. Bleach was entertaining asf and I loved watching it, but the lack of story cohesion and planning always nagged at me, jjk took what bleach lacked and fixed it

Feel like a lot of anime fans do this but a lot of this stuff is just mythology and Japanese culture rather it being based off of Bleach. Like Naruto for example, people see the hand signs and the nine tails and think any show that does that is copying Naruto. But really the Gumiho and all that ninja stuff isn't new. I mean you got Ninja Scroll and Basilisk is pretty much Naruto but more serious and I'm pretty sure both predate it. The whole Gumiho thing isn't even related to just Japan and isn't the only fox demon thing. Feel like it's the same with the spirit thing. Really to me the only things that are similar are the concept of spirit hunting and the fact there are spirits. Also some character tropes now that I think about it. Some of the looks for characters are kind of common stereotypes. like in America cops in movies tend to have that cop moustache and wear aviators and that wide brim hat. Same thing really.
Not saying these shows don't have unique stuff just they have inspirations different than what ppl tend to think.
Bro the compairson of JJK to Bleach is an HONOR!!! Bleach has solidified it's place among the Big 3. It's a titan of anime. I think it's awesome that JJK took inspiration from Bleach. It's cool to see those concepts explored in a different light.
This show is incredible, the first season just the beginning to what the actual story is, it’s very much it’s own thing but that doesn’t fully get realized until the moment season 2 starts since that’s where the story goes into the reality of the story 🦦

I love bleach, but JJK in season 2 is already WAY better written and animated than bleach. granted we wouldnt have it if it werent for the big 3 and togashi ect. but you are in for the feels of a lifetime

You're gonna enjoy a lot of the similarities to bleach. But! Don't get too hung up on them, if you apply the rules of the Bleach-verse to this world you're gonna end up confused at times.

Ok, lets see, we got, Scissors Seven, Demon Slayer, Hells Paradise, Mob Psycho 100, Overlord. these are the first that comes to my mind at the moment. I do recommend Demon Slayer because its not that long and not too confusing like some other anime. Scissors Seven is really humorous, so I recommend that if you like funny things. I gotta say it again, I loved the reaction! looking forward to next ones 😁😄

This is a case where I prefer the anime, when it comes to the start of the story. To me it feels very rushed in the manga. The anime makes it flow a lot better

So, I’m going to try my best to give a brief explanation (PLEASE hardcore JJK fans, give me a break if I butchered some of the info) to how cursed works and what it is. Trust me, it’s a complex power system that is very hard to explain to someone. Since I only watch the anime, my knowledge on it isn’t as deep as those who read the manga. I won’t add any spoilers.
To explain the power system, what I’ve gotten from the show is that cursed energy comes from the stigma of negative emotions of humans (obviously lol). Cursed energy is a form of negative energy and can be used to enhance the physical abilities of humans and Cursed Spirits, such as durability, strength, and speed. They also give birth to cursed spirits, which have a soul so it can be assumed that the soul and cursed energy are connected.
I don’t know if people would consider this a spoiler so *SPOILER* Reversed Cursed Energy and Technique. This form of cursed energy is the result of multiplying the negative cursed energy against itself to produce positive energy and the base power reverse cursed techniques will always be 2x as potent due to this multiplication. Imagine that you use a cursed technique or just cursed energy with its base power being expressed by -2 (since it’s negative energy). If you use your reverse cursed technique or just reverse cursed energy, the energy base power will be expressed as 4 (due to it being positive energy. -2 x -2 = 4). Unlike cursed energy, which can still amp the body, it can be used to heal
Cursed Spirits are the result of tons of cursed energy concentrated into certain points. The attributes, techniques, and nature of the cursed spirit all depend on what negative emotions generated the cursed energy. For example, the cursed energy produced from negative emotions associated with the fear of insects will give rise to a cursed spirit that essentially embodies the fear of insects and how strong those emotions are will determine its grade level. So places like a battle field of a war or prison can give birth to some pretty nasty Cursed Spirits. To simply, they’re the embodiment of specific negative human emotions (important to keep in mind).
The flow of cursed energy from Jujutsu sorcerers and Curse Users is different and doesn’t leak and because of this, it allows them to be able to manifest/use cursed techniques and the specific one carved into their soul.
Being a form of negative energy, most techniques using cursed energy are associated with negative things. For example, a cursed technique that allows you to manipulate gravity by nullifying it or lessening it’s pull. This would be seen as something associated with the concept of negative since it’s negating gravity.
You can also embed a curse into objects as well.

gonna say it, no hate to bleach but jjk is what I wish bleach had been. Bleach was entertaining asf and I loved watching it, but the lack of story cohesion and planning always nagged at me, jjk took what bleach lacked and fixed it
