After the comment I remembered a song my friend would sing about several folks trying to move a large object from a room. After each idea they tried and failed they would sit down and have another cup of tea. The last idea a fellow took a hammer to the ceiling which imediately came down on his head. After the next cup of tea they just went home. @@talesfromtheswansneck
Fantastic video Andrew! I work very near this stretch and did quite a few walks on this part of the canal during lockdown. It is really stunning in places. I hope to eventually own my own boat on this stretch in the not too distant future.
Thanks Chris, and yes the beer was the prescribed medication after that. It was great to meet you both at Astwood, and I'm wondering what the Galley Gourmet will next concoct.
No1 has already performed the task - I had my No1 hat on whilst doing it. I believe Henry has also seen the tonsorial artist. Hope you're both keeping well
Well done Andrew. Once you had got past the low water section, there was so much beautiful scenery and very pretty houses, including the old engine house. Take care.
Great vlog Andrew you had a couple of problems with ya water ,at least you got through it all,dam fine son you got, great team work, and a very good choice of ale Hobgoblin is what I drink, look forward to the next episode, keep safe and good boating.👍🛳
We really enjoy watching your vlogs here in Maine, USA. Hopefully someday we will make it to the canals. Great to see you and Henry getting on so well!
Thanks Monica, yeah we have a great relationship. I guess your canal trip probably won't be this year, but hopefully soon the world will return to some sort of normality.
Brilliant vlog Andrew. Was great to meet up for a beer. I'm all finished on the Gloucester and Sharpness now so am planning my next trip. Maybe heading down the Severn estuary to Bristol to do the K&A. Hopefully see you again soon. Happy cruising Del and the hounds 😉🍻
Perhaps the fisherman with the long rod was a Scotsman (and I know they won't take offence for me making the geographical reference and that's all) called Rodney because when you passed his Rod was ney far enough out of the way when you went passed, as if you should't be there. 'Lockies' are volunteers with little appreciation it seems but I'm pleased in a weird kind of human nature type kind of way , you all enjoyed the day.
Andrew, you'll forgive me I hope but you must know that you have a noticeable accent and intonation which is quite pleasant to my Londoners ear. So you'll understand my surprise when I heard your voice coming from the radio on the LBC Nick Abbot call-in show Friday, it started well the voice was totally you, that is until the person with your voice started to talk the most gawd awful gibberish, so of course I knew I was listening to someone who had stolen your voice and not you. Back to the real world, Great Vlog I loved the starlings flying into my living room through the screen. All the best. Stephen.
Hi Stephen, certainly wasn't me, but I do like to watch some of the highlights of the James O'Brien show on TH-cam. Funny, I always had you down as a Brummie - don't know where I got that idea. Yeah the birds were so quick you could barely see them so I had to put it into slow motion.
Thank you for another nice episode, most channels seem to run out of original content, always repeating the same things. Foxes afloat started referring to chubby as "she" and crossed the line so that leaves you and only one or two others as channels worth following.
Well thank you, I hope you continue to enjoy my content. There has been an astronomical amount of people starting canal vlogs during the past year - I can't say if any of them are any good because I watch so few of them these days, but I'm pleased you enjoy what I'm doing.
We love your blog. I must say the video today has some of the cleanest shots I have seen. Do you have a new camera? Thanks for the entertainment. Harold
Thanks for the cruise. It's Winter in New Zealand and bitterly cold and wet so it's nice to go for a tranquil cruise. There's heaps of boats on the canals, is that the normal? If so it must be a real traffic jam at times.
Hi Lorraine, it's been scorch here for the last month, although it was still quite chilly whilst filming this one. I think there were ore boats out than usual at that time of year due to the ending of lockdown. Also foreign holidays are fairly unlikely this year, so I expect more people will be holidaying on the canals. There are certain locks which one needs to queue for, thankfully they are few and far between.
Hi David, I suspect it may be inexperienced holiday boaters who become mentally and physically tired and so make mistakes, or think leaving the paddle open won't make a difference.
Your son seems like a cool guy. Nice to see dads and sons getting alone.
Thanks. I'm blessed with two lovely sons and have a great relationship with them both.
Good to see you back under way Andrew. Thanks for the wonderful canal flight(s), of fancy, I mean locks.
Many thanks John
Thanks for sharing,lovely ride.
Andrew
Good to see the Slag Brothers reunited.
Jeff
Thanks Rufus Ruffcut...
Always great watch your shows. It’s good to know your the ime to sit and have another cup of tea instead of being hot and bothered. Take care.
Thanks Skip. Sometimes you've just got to sit it out. Like the old expression goes, the canals are the quickest way to slow down.

nice vlog
Lovely Son Andrew. :)
Thanks, he's not bad is he...
thank you

Thanks Andrew, and I hope you find a boat soon, it reeky is a great way to live.
Magic Andrew you both well deserved the beers keep safe 👍

Lovely son.
He certainly is, and maybe the other lovely son will appear sometime soon too.
Brilliant good stuff thanks
Hi Skip and First Mate Henry. As usual a great vid but you need the No1 to give you a trim! Take care. Hutchinson & Co.

@@henryhayward1703 Errr actually I was drinking the Hobgoblin...
@@talesfromtheswansneck I was too fixated on my own beer to notice!
Fantastic clear video shots, new camera? Really enjoy your vlogs,
so interesting and enjoyable.
Keep up the good work. 👍
No new camera Gerry, but when it is dry I can use the camera without the water-housing which I think helps with the quality.

Always a treat to see your videos mate, could do with a beer myself now, cheers, all the best mate. 🍺🍻

Well it's Waddies 6X in the brewery tap then? Good luck with the Severn estuary, you're a braver man than me

love the vlog ...wot about the Huddersfield narrow canal Aspley to Marsden i think there is 42 locks ..
Did the whole thing after 2 weeks on the boat. A baptism of fire!

Those that leave Paddle/s open and drain pounds and or canals should be fined mightily and keel hauled!
Fined mightily but it's a bit shallow for keel hauling and possibly a bit illegal.
I suspect it is usually inexperienced holiday boaters who become tired mentally and physically...
Correct, I can't think of a reason why anyone would do that unless they were having an adverse reaction to something.
It would be interesting to know when you are filming if only so I know at what point to friend spot. From the state of the Ash trees I'd guess March?
Hi Mike, nature is about three weeks behind at the moment, but I was at Tardebigge on May 12th.
@@talesfromtheswansneck we went down on the 15th. I guess you probably passed is at the top.
I stayed around Alvechurch for a couple of days with my son, so probably passed you then
Hobgoblin and spitfire ?
Both! And I had an amazing pint of Timothy Taylors in the Fluer-de-Lys in Lowsonford a few days ago.
@@talesfromtheswansneck good man, I was treated to Hopping Hare on tap yesterday, very refreshing
What part of " if you don't shut paddles down you lose water do some boaters DON'T understand"
Education failed them.
Could be an unfortunate mistake, like using the word DONT instead of NOT. Sorry for the pedantry, I couldn’t resist. 😁
