Yiruma's River Flows in You, another one of the most requested pieces to be performed on this channel, and another thank you to you all for being here on this pianistic journey. Although this piece is a stark contrast to the intensity and excitement of the 3rd Movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata from last week, it is one that can really make you think. Especially with how the piece ends there is one word I feel most accurately describes the work: bittersweet. And although it's a Monday, I hope this piece can bring a pleasant start to your week :)

2 years ago, I started to learn piano and I heard my grand parents in their room saying that this song meant a lot to them. So from there, I tried so hard to learn this song. Tonight is my piano concert and they are coming. I wanted them to come because I'm going to play this song and I want to know that they are important to me. update : I was so stressed when it was my turn to play on the piano, i was shaking and i started to play with so much stress. But then i was so into the song that the stress in me started to disappear a little bit ! i finished the song and i started to cry. When I got married I hadn't heard this song, but looking back over my life, that would have been the most appropriate time for this song. Actually, any special moment in your life is the perfect time for this song. I want it someday at my funeral right after Ave Maria., River Flows in You is that good.

Sometimes a song comes a long and absolutely speaks to your heart and soul. This song speaks to me on that level. I can play a simplified version of it (working towards the full version one day) and my fingers just glide across the keyboard. It’s truly a healing experience.

I adore Yiruma for this piece. It brings peace to my soul where my soul could have never rested. The way the fingers dance on the keys is intoxicating.... It pays tribute that I never could to my little brother whom served the United States Army with his mind, body and soul. May he be victorious in battles to come.
I love this song. I listened to it a lot when I was going through loss of a horse that really was my soulmate. She was my world. I always vented to her when I had a bad day and she always comforted me.
Now I'm listening to it to bring peace to my soul while I'm seething with anger at my brother for stupid stuff he's doing and going through mourning a friend distancing herself from me for having different opinions and she doesn't want to be "close" friends anymore. Just friends.... she's been one of my best friends for years and it hurts so bad. But this song has always brought me a sense of peace and relaxation ❤

One day in a cafeteria, there's this keyboard a bit far away from the crowd, someone left it there probably because they're about to return it later after they eat. It was for a drama musical practice.
i was sitting with my friends on the cafeteria, it was crowded like usual, everyone was eating, talking and laughing. Suddenly, a girl with high ponytail went into the keyboard and stand behind it. She then played this melody that i have never heard before. It was beautiful. Very beautiful and touching. Everyone who usually doesnt care about their surroundings, was paying attention to her. The cafeteria slowly becomes quiet. It was the first time the cafeteria was this silence and peaceful. It was really amazing. The girl was so confident and plays the keyboard as if she's in a trance. She looks very genuine. I was speechless.
After she finished, people clapped really hard and praise her. It was a moment i will never forget in my entire life. It was really amazing, i could have broken into tears that day. I gathered my courage one day and ask her about the song she played, it was this masterpiece. If i hear this again, i always remember that day. It was a beautiful day.

Update: I did it I just played the whole piece perfectly with both hands and I’m sure

This is a song that I want to be played at my grandpa’s funeral. I’m trying to learn this song on piano. (I only know the easier version and haven’t learned the full song). I find that sometimes when I can’t cry or put my emotions into words that expressing it through music has been really helpful to me. You play with such emotion. Music isn’t all about skill, it’s about letting people feel the emotions you’re experiencing while playing. This is something you did in a great way
