I’m a Navy brat… A boat is any watergoing vessel. A ship is a large oceanfaring watercraft (multiple sails or engines). A boat is small enough to be carried on a ship and a ship is large enough to carry a smaller vessel- or as my dad says “you can put a boat on a ship but you can’t put a ship on a boat.” 😊 Fair winds and following seas!

My husband is a Merchant Mariner and went to school for engineering on ships. It is always cool to see how pilots work, and random ships really.
I've been on at least 4 cruises and I never knew that about the small boat and separate pilot to drive the ship in and out of the port. Thanks for the info. Also love how much fun you all seem to be having. Hopefully it was a blast of a cruise. I find you can't go wrong with them. Happy New Year btw!
I was so excited when I saw the Christmas Day video and found out you were going on this cruise! The cruise videos are my favorite videos of all time! I can hear the cruise music in my head. I’ve been waiting for the first cruise video and I’m about to watch it right now. IM SO EXCITED!

I had cruise ships 4 times and love them. I had never on Celebrity cruises before, I will love it. I had seen pilot boat many times on cruise ships. Last February 2022, I cruise ship from Miami, Florida. I love watch your video on cruise New year. Thank you for share us.

Hi Ryan's mom Sam here.... I live on the west coast of Scotland on the Isle of Arran and in the Spring and Summer months we get cruise ship sailing past most days ( The come from Greenock) and this one the Celebrity Silhouette goes past all the time so now i know what it's like on board 😁👍

Just a note about pilots on ship's from what i understand from the cruises that I've been on the pilot usually provides guidance to the captain and the bridge crew. There are only two places in the world where they actually take over the ship and that's in the Suzie canal and the Panama canal otherwise the crew is still in charge of the vessel and can if they feel that the safety of the vessel and the people on board requires them to take over, i actually saw that happen on a show on the discovery Channel about cruise ships.

My cousin’s husband is a pilot out of Miami. He was able to pilot the ship in our first cruise in 2017!

All ships are boats, but not all boats are ships! 😁 All water going vessels are considered boats. However only large water going vessels with multiple propulsion systems, and or multiple sails are classified as ships. Happy sails!😊👍

I feel so bad for Ryan. He never gets the bed... Always stuck with whatever uncomfortable couch or pullout bed they have.
He may like it or have volunteered. We have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. I’m sure if it was a problem it would have been solved
On cruises the couches are beds. At least on all the ones I’ve been on and I’ve slept on them, they’re not uncomfortable
