Have just watched your video on repairing floats ( I have quite a few) and also this video and am now waiting for my fringe twister to arrive, can’t wait to try it, looks like fun😁. Your videos have inspired me to give weaving a go and Im hooked on it now. Thank you for the wonderful videos they have been so helpful.

Good demonstration of the fringe twister. I have a few comments on technique. One, you can omit hemstitching or knotting at the top if you like. Yes, I agree hemstitching looks nice together with twisted fringe, but using just one or the other will secure the weft. Also, if you divide up your fringe groups, and then take the threads at the outside edge of each group, and cross them over between adjacent groups before twisting, the weft is made even more secure, and that also looks nice. Just be sure to cross the threads in the same direction each time for a tidy finish.

Of all the books you could have chosen to hold your scarf in this video, well done and good on you for selecting the bible! After watching you video on TH-cam - A blessing or a curse?, I again congratulate you for talking about this and making us all be mindful about this sad situation. Perhaps if more people had an attitude like Jesus (Treat others like you would want to be treated), the internet and the world would be a more pleasant place. How can I make thin twisted fringes on a heavyweight fleece blanket shawl? Am I able to use the twister on fabrics? Instead of tying a knot, I would use thread and secure together?
Put single strands of yarn in each clip andnthen join only two together to twist them up. I always hemstitch before twisting to keep the weft from coming out of place.

I bought this about a year ago and never tried it but now I have a twisted belt to make for a skirt. Do you know how to approach that? I appreciate your taking the time to demonstrate this. @@ooohlaa13 My decision regarding how many threads to twist together is based on how thick I want my final twisted groups to be and how many I've grouped in my hemstitching process. If I clipped 4 threads on each clip, then twisted them together my groups would be 8 threads thick rather than 4. It's just a matter of preference as to how thick you want your twisted groups to be. Can you tell me more about your twisted piece on the skirt so I understand better what you're wanting to do?

I knitted a skirt, it has eyelets in the waistband for a drawstring closure, so I need to come up with a few strands of worsted probaby 4 strands I will have to experiment, the eyelets are about 3/8. Of course I just want it to hold up the skirt and not be bulky. So I was wondering what I would do to secure the ends since they won't be attached to anything like the bottom of a scarf would, and how much percentage wise do I have to lengthen them. Like I guees I need it to be about 40" long, so strands 40" will twist to less, but is there an approx % like would I need double. I don't have a lot of yarn left so maybe i will experiment with some old yarn. But how to secure one end while I am twisting since its not part of a garment to hold in place to keep it steady. Sorry for rambling, hope this makes some sense.
It's because when you put the two independently twisted groups together, they try to untwist, but because the ends are tied they can't, so they end up twisting around each other in the opposite direction to make the final result. If you just twisted one group and tied it, it would have more success at untwisting or bunching up, which you don't want.
Hi Kelly. I don't weave but I do crochet. Sometimes I put fringe on my scarfs and I purchased one of the fringe twisters with two alligator clips about a year ago. I have used it 4 times and it never fails that the right alligator clip will get "locked". It just gets hung and stops turning. I have to turn it in the reverse direction to get it to begin to work again or sometimes even start over which is very frustrating. Have you experienced a problem like this with your fringe twister or would is this a defect in mine? Thanks, Linda
Linda, it really sounds like a defect. When I first got my twister it was a little stiff and loosened up with use, but none of the clips locks like you've described. I would either contact the place you bought it from or contact the company directly to tell them about the problem. If it's Ashford, they are excellent and would likely replace it for you.
Hello Kelly, Lovely Scarf. I have a question. I have a smaller loom and it makes 6" wide pieces, how do I join the pieces together? I thought about hand sewing or crocheting. I would like it to be seemless for a blanket. Is that possible? My loom is 15" wide but for some reason these pieces came out smaller. They are not tight. Thanks I eventually would like to graduate to a larger loom but for now I am still learning. Thanks again, Hugs :)
That is exactly what I did for this blanket - I wove on panels on the Sampleit loom and then sewed the panels together. www.etsy.com/au/listing/680861533/rainbow-lap-blanket-pdf-pattern-for?ref=shop_home_feat_2 I used mattress stitch to join the panels, it works really well.

Yes, I attach groups of 2 on each clip, then take them off the clips and twist them together to make a group of 4. Does that make sense? 😊
