I went to some LEDs and couldn't be happier. I'm a very strict budget so I had to get creative, and compromise some, but it worked! I started my first tomato and pepper seeds this year, relatively trouble free. Thanks Jeff
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms In the past I never tried starting seeds earlier than the season allowed. But once I added a heated base to the process, everything changed.
I bought the SF300 (same light and strength just half as long). It fits perfectly in a window and it’s so lightweight that I hung it from my blinds which makes raising and lowering the light very easy. As a bonus, my plants get some natural light too. Works perfect in winter. Only issue is that you don’t want to leave it on at night because bugs are attracted to the light in the window and may find a way to come inside. 10 hours a day with this light plus the natural light boost is plenty.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms Do you have any videos (or could make one) using your sf 600 light to grow a pepper and/or tomato plant so that we can see how it's done and under what circumstances it could work? I am assuming that it works more for a dwarf/nano tomatoe plant and a determinate type pepper plant? No one seems to have tackled this- you'd be the first! 😉
Help! My oregano is dying. Ok so back story. After helping out at the community garden they pulled up bushes of oregano. I repoted a small bush, brought it home and it was doing fine the first 2 days but now it's withering away. What can I do to save it?
Dang, sorry to hear that Dellius. I wonder if the roots got shocked and are now not transporting food/water back to the plant. Might be worth putting some of the plant in just a saucer of water to see if its still alive.
@@susanhoogsteyns4805 Hi! Anyone can make natural organic fertilizers at home. I have uploaded some videos to my channel. Please take a moment and enjoy with natural organic vegetables
Does this light work for tomato seedling? If yes how high do you have it hanging? From the top of tomatoes My tomatoes are turning yellow and I am not sure what it is If it’s this light or something else
Hey Donal, no, not that I can see....and Spider doesn't advertise that as a feature unfortunately. I think if you're at the point of having to daisy chain lights, you're likely using higher power ones.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms ok good to know, the ends of my tomato leaves turn yellow and I don’t know why, I stopped watering so much I let it dry out almost completely now, maybe it’s too much water, and I had this 600 spider light 18 inches away from my 4 week old tomatoes so maybe that’s what the problem was…. It’s now 8 inches away, thank you so so much for getting back to me!
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms I do fertilize half strength with liquid Neptuns harvest every 2 weeks as well I hope they are going to be fine, I really want them to succeed, I will :-) thank you so much! 💚
I’ve been pretty disappointed with this light. I upgraded to spider farmer’s SF2000 and that light was a let down too. My latest light is a Happy Lead Procyon Pro. It uses only 68 watts (same as the one being reviewed) but the difference in growth is amazing. I ended up returning both of my spider farmer lights. The Happy Leaf was way better and it’s made in the USA.

Right on man. Have a great growing season in 2021. Getting started early can be a really big boost!

Hi, which LED did you get eventually?
With that new LED light, your plants think they are ‘ basking on the beach’! Good video, as usual.
They totally are Jim....livin' it up in the sun!
Just got sf600 in the mail today. Excited for the 2023 season
Oh wow, right on Lynn!! What's up for planting this year??
@The Ripe Tomato Farms so far I have started lots of tomatoes , peppers, herbs, flowers.
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms the light was easy to set up despite not the best instructions. I like the ease of raising and lowering them.

That's amazing Steve... I never thought to hang them in actual existing windows!
I recommend adding a yellow sticky trap to collect the bugs attracted to the light.
HA! Below par.. Well done sir!
:-). Cheers!
I have this and like it. But I wish it had a bit more kick.
What about using the sf 600 for growing tomatoes and pepper plants? I’d love to see the results for flowering and fruiting stages using this light!
Definitely. I have a larger grow tent that could even fit TWO of them!

Hi, im buying the same light. How high should i hang above when growing peppers and tomatoes? 50%?

You are so natural with your soil and your amendments and then you go and use LED lights.
I have yet to find a plant that can grow inside in the dark. Lemme know if you see any. :)
