Man nothing but haters the last few months. Daivd Benoit is a true Jazz Soul, and all of you O.C.D. haters who have no idea what Jazz is all about wish you had half the talent and soul this man has in his pinky. Jazz speaks to you - Jazz is not about accuracy and precision. It's all about allowing your emotions to take the music where it wants to go for the audience and the moment at hand. It was obviously an at-the-moment choice, because you could even see his daughter's expression on her face (In the string section where she was playing) that she was caught off-gaurd. David added genuine honest feeling, he reached out and took a chance, and shared a part of his soul with everybody listening. If you can't understand that concept, then you have NO BUSINESS critiquing ANY Jazz performance. For my take, this was just another wonderful rendition by the master of this fabulous song. Thank you David Benoit.
I used to be obsessed with this song from my 1st birthday to my 3rd, my grandma has brought me a toy keyboard from Walgreens the day before and we had a party at my house. I’d always go on the family computer and search the song up and go back and forth to the keyboard and back to the computer playing the notes simply. My dad knew I was gonna become a pianist of how quickly I was getting the song down and so he introduced me into John Paul Jones and that’s when I knew my life changed. I’m in a band now which started a few weeks ago!
So many times I had lost all memory of how to play the piano and Vince's music is the only thing my hands would find--right in the middle of the gig--Vince would come in and rescue me from crashing. Thanks, man. Love ya Vince, and David too
truly appreciate this song.excellent song;good memories of my really reel cartoon days with my kids(all grown up now)smiling as i listen.thanks for memory track working.
I love this performance because it plays at a certain tempo and then it jumped into a faster more upbeat tempo and then it came back to its original tempo when it first started.
Exactly true, jazz is unique as a style because it's more than just the way the music is constructed, it's about the sound coming from the performer's heart in a sense.
As the old raiting system has been up dated, Can Mr. TH-cam change the thumb down for a thumb up?, I mean the thumb down is not required on this song... I love this video!!!!!!!!
6/1/2023 9pm show Blue Note Hawaii. True Story. The room only has about 30 people. My friends and I are sitting at a table closest to the stage. I am 6 ft away from Benoit. Benoit: "Okay folks, any song requests?" Me: "Linus and Lucy!" Benoit: "Really?@#$!" (fyi song is performed by him, but not written by him) Benoit: "(quietly)Ugh .. can I do another song first?" Me: "Sure!" David Benoit is a real class act.
It's cool to jazz this jazzy thing up a little further. They give the main theme its due in a form that's true enough to the original to please the purists. And really, that idea gets a good running through before they start playing around. No harm, no foul.
People, when you hear Lucy and Linus through the years including the Piano Guys' version of it, a little improvising is a nice thing to hear; okay, there's no sax and flutes in the original version, but why can't it be allowed to be a bit different. Benoit improvising on the piano in the middle along with the bass and drums and other instruments is pleasing to the ear. Breathe people!
@andrewchoi5 yes, I am officially old now... so Can youtube add another thumb up to have two instead of one up and other down?, I mean the thumb down is not required on this song....
I could hear this song a thousand times in a day and never tire of it.

+Michael Oleksak all these people are totally just hating on it cause its another version! This is used in the shows too! Calm down :T
Preach it, Michael. That's what the arts are all about. Those who do what David does are geniuses. Haters, go away! Go listen to your rap crap.
And that's how Vince Guaraldi wrote it. Spur of the moment, Guts and glory, all or nothing
David Benoit rocks! I love his rendition of "Linus & Lucy"!
