- This video is a tribute to Gena Rowlands on her 90th birthday, showcasing her performances in the movies directed by her late husband John Cassavetes: Minnie and Moskowitz (1971), A Woman Under The Influence (1974), Opening Night (1977), and Gloria (1980).
She was the greatest actress ever. Goodbye Gena, we already miss you.
Her ability to show the deepest human emotions on screen was pure perfection,just an immense actress,her legacy is here to stay.
She was so classy and she should have been a much bigger star than she was. RIP

Gena Rowlands not winning an Oscar for Best Actress is truly unjust. Her performance ranks among the best in my heart.GOAT. In the movie "A Woman Under the Influence," she delivered one of the most outstanding performances of a sensitive, suspicious, and neurotic female character in cinematic history. It's difficult to perform these qualities without overacting, but she did it perfectly and naturally, conveying raw depressive black emotions. I really admire her, and it's a pity she didn't win the Oscar for her performance. Her performances in both "A Woman Under the Influence" and "Opening Night" deserve two little gold statues...

Easily one of the greatest actors in human history; possibly the greatest actor in human history - but it's impossible to know for sure. Her perfection of conveyance of emotions and realizations - both huge and small: There are no words. We're just incredibly lucky that it's captured on film.
What a Beautiful compilation and tribute to such a talented actress and star. I have always found her to be both Beautiful and fascinating! Looking through these pictures of her, I can see so much resemblance to the also talented and beautiful actress Cate Blanchett.

As I watch her I'm mesmerized can't take my eyes off her. My heart follows her as she weaves the person she is paying. The tend not to call female actresses an actor but Gena is an actor in everyday. From the early days when John started writing roles for her and little theatre group they had she was exceptional. Later after his death their son and other children followed. Notebook her son wrote for her outstanding performance. Nothing can beat her in Gloria I say it was first mob film coming out of the 80s before Godfather. What a gangster she was but so vulnerable in her loneliness she became family to boy who's whole family got murdered. She went up against crew she was with.I have watched that movie hundred of times.the movie with Peter Falk where he loves 2 woman coocoo wife and mother. The break out film. Nobody like her.

I just saw Hysterical Blindness. Such a great, beautiful, classy actress.
I was born in 1988, and I've only been used to seeing Rowlands in supporting roles. I didn't know her collaborations with husband John Cassavetes and their films.
Last week, I watched A Woman Under the Influence for the first time, and I was shocked on how brilliant of an actress Gena is. Oh, my god. Her performance in that film is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen from actress in a long time. Such a powerhouse. I just finished watching Opening Night for the first time, and I just fell in love with her. Another incredible performance. She is one of those actresses where you can't tell if she's acting. She's so natural. Wish she was given better quality roles nowadays. Of course she's in her 90's, but within the past 30 years, I wish she was given more staring roles like Meryl Streep. At this point, I put Rowlands on top of one of the best actresses in the business. She's great.
Next film of hers, I might watch either Love Streams or Gloria.

Is it just me or has the acting quality declined significantly over time? I don't see an actress on the current scene who is a fingernail to what Gena was.
Not really. She is just special but overall many great actresses today. Jennifer lawrence, viola davis, jessica chastain, cate blanchett, lots of great actresses
