I bought a yoghurt maker ( non electric) second hand and make powdered milk yogurt every couple of weeks , I use water that has already boiled and cooled , add about 3 drops calcium chloride to make it thick .
I normally make my own yogurt every couple of weeks. I use the oven method. I make it in the evening, and it will sit in the warm oven all night and in the morning, it is all done. I just put it into the refrigerator. I'm assuming I can use the powdered milk the same way, I would just have to reconstitute it first. Is that correct?
In a SHTF situation, would this Stanley pot be good for soaking beans overnight in warm water!?? You got my brain cells working overtime or maybe my instant pot would work just as good 🤷🏼♀️
@@margiestephens7281 thank you. I’m trying to figure out which dry milk to store. Last I got was Walmart brand. I thought the one you said was formula for babies.
Pour the yogurt mixture into Ball jars, then set them into a small cooler wrapped in a bath towel to hold in the heat overnight. Cultures will work its magic, and voila!
May i simplify the math? Gallon, 4 qts. Quart, 4 cups. 3/4 gallon water is 3 qts. 3/4 quart is 3 cups. Simple as metric. Lol. Personally, I had to put the 3/4 gallon of water in that cooker and dumped in that jar of milk. 🙂

Great tip!
I’m going to try this with powdered goat milk (lactose sensitive, and it helps) with a Greek yogurt dollop. Thanks!
Great idea!
I am absolutely loving all your content. ❤❤❤
I'm so glad to hear that! ❤️
Most recipes I’ve seen say the milk needs to be about 110-115 to culture the yogurt.
It needs to be lower when using a thermal cooker like the one I'm using in this video (because of how well it retains heat).

That's correct! 🙂
Thank you❤
Something else to add to my todo list 🙂
How long will it last in the fridge ?
Between the 5 of us, we devour it within a week, so I'm not really sure lol!

I love making homemade yogurt but have never tried it with powdered milk.

Yes, it would! I don’t think Instant Pots are insulated like a thermos, but it’s better than nothing and would work in a pinch. 🙂
What brand of milk do you use
Probably NIDO …. Can buy @ Walm

I use only whole milk powder either:
✅ Hoosier Hill Powdered Whole Milk: amzn.to/3tN5DJD
✅ Judee's Whole Milk Powder: amzn.to/3S8TGYR
What if I don't have the last pot you put it in? Is there anything else I can use?
