    Bankstanding is not poor use of time and arguably one of the most important aspects of the game. It gives you some downtime between activities to just talk to people, goof around and avoid burning out. I'm half joking, of course, but bankstanding is one of those classic RuneScapey activities that the game is known for, and I wish I could bring myself to do it more often

  • @BaronOfRed
    @BaronOfRed ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Used to be one of those players that was sooo proud of noncombat stats being higher than combat and thinking combat "noobs" just played the game on easy-mode, buying skills and not actually playing the game "properly."
    Over the past couple of years I became one of those people bossing for money and doing everything else with time efficiency in mind and I gotta say while both were/are enjoyable ways to play in their own right, I have made way more progress toward *all* my goals since adopting that attitude.
    If you want that extra challenge, the ironman mode exists now, there's no reason to limit yourself like that on a main.

    • @RheyoRS
      @RheyoRS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to be the same way, I still like to Ironman my supplies when possible though (looking at you, nature runes 👀) I like having a healthy mix of content to break the monotony!

    My recent change has been, if doing yak track tasks check and see if theres any achivements you could get along the way, such as burn 1 of each log ect. seems tiny but if you were to ever go for trimmed comp its stuff out of the way that you dont need to worry about later and only takes a little extra effort

    • @RheyoRS
      @RheyoRS  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a solid idea, makes the overall goal of comping less daunting!

    • @Kranon
      @Kranon ปีที่แล้ว

      On the other hand. If you look at the True Trim Checklist. It's obvious Jagex don't even know there's achievements worth of being Trim Reqs, yet they're not. Like:
      - The Archivist Title.
      - The Dark Lord Title.
      - All Port Scrolls Complete.
      - Showing a Full Set of Necromancer Robes to an NPC.
      - Making a Salve Amulet (e).
      - Max Farming Reputation.
      - Build all Deposit Boxes (not Bait Boxes) in Anachronia.
      Along many, many, many more achievements that Jagex aren't aware of apparently.
      Damn, just making trim require a minimum Runescore of 25K would be enough to make the cape prestigious again.

    • @Kranon
      @Kranon ปีที่แล้ว

      Although i do agree with your point, but tbh the only goal you can consistently complete along the yack track is:
      - Who will be her lover.
      - Stone throw away.
      This is the perfect time to get those achievements done for good, if you just don't focus on Skill N Kill tasks.

    All of these were hits imo, and really resonate with my personal runescape experience. One of mine that wasnt mentioned was not sticking to a grind. Example: I was wanting to get better at bossing, but I was worried about my potions. Well I put off the bossing grind to do herblore. Well, partway through herblore, I thought I need invention perks, and put off herblore to do that grind. 4-5 other ones later, and I end up never finishing either of them because I assume one grind is 'more important' than the first one, and I end up wasting more time than if I just learned the boss with the gear and supplies I had to begin with

  • @uzishamgar
    @uzishamgar ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've found that by playing my main in a very ironman-esque way it's help me a ton. I tend do to most things myself like an iron man would other than the super tedious stuff like buying shops for the more basic invention components jut as an example. I try and grow most of my own herbs over time, earn any drops for specialized invention components (cywir for planted feet or greater sun/DS), and really try to earn the drops I want for gear increases. The only exception is group bosses, I have had bad luck finding groups to do some of the group bosses and even when I've found a group I just tend to enjoy the solo stuff more. If the gear/content I want to do HAS to be done as a group, I likely won't grind it out like I normally would and would instead buy those rewards.
    Playing this way has allowed me to be 5 achievements from comp cape (which I hopefully will finish in a couple weeks), but it's also saved me a TON of money in the long run as I've either made or earned everything have without just buying it. It's also allowed me to enjoy the game more as I'm not rushing to the end. I kind of had that realization several years ago when I maxed for the first time. I felt like I was "done" with the game and had little reason to play it. So by taking my time and enjoying the ride as it goes I'm also overall happier playing Runescape.

    • @RheyoRS
      @RheyoRS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I relate to this 100%, I like to play pretty much the exact same way, especially when it comes to group bosses. Like right now I make it a point to craft Nature runes with my 3 wicked hood teleports every single day because natures are super expensive. Will it kill me to buy some? Not really, but I don't like the idea of spending 1k on a single nature rune haha. Taking my time and not rushing things allows me to recognize the value in other aspects of the game as well.
      I run the risk of sounding very boomer, but ever since ge/eoc/a lot of convenience updates, the perceived value of items has severely dropped over time. Running around with a maxed main also makes it easy to forget the value of just basic supplies that were really hard for me to come across when I was initially learning the game.

    • @generalharness8266
      @generalharness8266 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RheyoRS You can get enough nature runes from shop runs to run your alch machines if you do them daily.
      300 from Ali, 300 from mage guild, 300 from deep wild, 300 from lunar island.

    • @LastAvailableAlias
      @LastAvailableAlias ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, even if you are grinding towards a target (I'm trying to get dark nilas from arch glacor), the side loot will be paying off. Plus you'll become so efficient over time at that boss that you'll be using less overhead mats, not dying, etc. Only catches would be hard mode bosses which really require maximizing every bit of dps.
      I ground reaper tasks and buying gifts of the reaper while doing clue scrolls. All of these led to me making my own eof. In the meantime it forced me to learn more bosses and it made me less afraid of trying them. It also got me off of my butt and augmenting my top gear lol. Doing clue scrolls not only got me all the fortunate components but I found the parts for the ornamentation kit to upgrade my eof. I had to be patient though, it took me months but there is so much else to do it wasn't a big deal.

  • @WildeHoppsANDW
    @WildeHoppsANDW ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I know two goals of mine are to unlock all abilities and get 25k runescore. Just seems like when I get the money for upgrades, I dont know which to get. Should i finish off range and get Greater DS, or save up a bit more to get Greater Sunshine and Greater Chain and finish off magic upgrades. I use both styles equally, so I'm just left staring at my screen. XD

    • @superleipoman

    • @RheyoRS
      @RheyoRS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree that qol is a great upgrade, I bought greater ds/sunshine out of the suggestion upgrade path and I'm very glad I did, not having to worry about an extra switch is very convenient and frees up an inventory slot. Gchain is something I really only use at HM Zuk and ED's, so unless you do those a lot I'd suggest getting the greater codices. Maybe to help curb some costs you can farm up the Cywir comps yourself? I think it shaves off ~100m per codex if you do that, assuming you augment and level the gear to lv9 before disassembling them.

    • @WildeHoppsANDW
      @WildeHoppsANDW ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RheyoRS Thank you for the advice! I will see if I can get the cywir comps. I have a lvl 13 cyrwir wand I'm trying to get to lvl 15 for an equipment separator. So maybe I can separate that out and get the comps?

    • @RheyoRS
      @RheyoRS  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can only disassemble it for comps, but it will save you the cost of the separator because it would give you the gizmos back 100% guaranteed.

    Loved the bankstanding point; my solution to it is to always have a few different goals to work towards based on activity levels; ie an active goal, a semi-active goal, and an afk goal, that way if idk what to do, I can just default to one of those three depending on what I feel like doing (I wanna play another game or read a book? work on the AFK goal. I wanna watch youtube or anime or something? do the semi-afk goal!). And yeah, if none of those sounds tempting, then like you said, taking some time away from the game might be the best choice!

    • @mikelibby990
      @mikelibby990 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is one of the main reasons I farm as I go, I see some guys at tetras saying they have 30,50,50k porters stashed up but that’s just incredibly boring to me I’ll make 20-30 porters, use them, restore artefacts and whatnot then resupply porters and carry on, it’s less efficient but less mind numbing in between that time i might go do one or two kills at a boss or mine a few inventories of ore, that way those resources are always stacking up if I want to just dump time into afking something when I want to without buying materials. Not everyone’s kind of play style but suits me perfectly

      Yeah I had this issue a while ago, for me it was sort of like a dopamine hit whenever I’d get something new to play with or a new outfit to flex. I'm really greedy with my supplies, I try to avoid stuff that would make my experience better, stuff like vul bombs and its a bad habit that ive been carrying since rs2, in OSRS and now in rs3 since Im a returning player, I have to deal with a lot of rough stuff until I realize i shouldve been using stuff that I avoided trying to save some money lol

    • @RheyoRS
      @RheyoRS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was the same way, vuln bombs especially, but you really don't realize how good these things are until you start to use them. 10% damage intake boost for 60 seconds? Doesn't sound like much, but if that 10% gets you to phase a boss before going into a 10s animation lock, then that bomb throw was 100% worth it. Plenty of ways to try and justify it, but yeah buying items to make the grind easier is something I seriously undervalued until recently.

    A bad habit that I definitely had to drop was not using your pvm drops to their full potential. This mostly comes into play with alchables and seed drops. Instead of selling them directly on the GE for easy money, consider throwing them into your auto-alcher/herb patches. Helwyr's common gp per hour was definitely nerfed with the Crux farming update, however if you plant the seeds yourself you will end up making much more gp.

    • @RheyoRS
      @RheyoRS  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will say that there’s probably good reasons for that. There comes a point where engagement has to dictate the content to some extent, especially if your content is your part time/full time job. I imagine the creator you’re speaking of found that the time investment required for the videos they were putting out wasn’t worth the effort due to responses it would receive (and by responses, I mean the engagement analytics from the backend of a TH-cam channel.) In general, if it’s not performing well compared to your other videos, then it just doesn’t jive with your audience.
      There could be many reasons behind that though, series idea/editing/editing time required/etc, it’s a tough thing to truly know, but as I mentioned before my goal is to make engaging and entertaining content, and if it doesn’t perform well I’m going to figure out why and make adjustments accordingly.

      Wait until you find out about the High End PVM Community lol.
      I'm not here to fight, but i feel we have some things in common, so let's discuss.
      Have you ever been on Twitter? Like, you see a Post on Reddit with some JMod reply linking you to their Twitter profile, and once you open the link, you see replies of people with anime PFP's, or MLP Humanoids, their Trim Cape Character, etc..
      Well... It has always been weird to me how do everyone on Twitter seems to have Trim Cape, or Golder Reaper, or Golden IFB, Ultimate Slayer, seriously it's absurd, the amount of time those goals take, and the fact these guys seems to be "the norm" on Twitter boggles my mind, like, I have Comp but if i went to Twitter I'm a complete noob in comparison.
      Yet again, because i have Comp, if i insert myself anywhere else in the community, I'm a No Lifer lmao, when i reality, I play considerably less than any Twitter user.
      It's quite the conundrum, and the kind of thing i think is best not to think deeper about, but that doesn't make it any less true.
      In conclusion: it seems to me, RS players CAN BE classified depending on the social media they're in:
      TH-cam harbors the majority of Iron Men, with IM Series being a hot topic, but also, most content creators seems to be Comped and either chasing trim or a new Boss Kill Speed.
      Twitter Users seems to be comprised of Trimmed Players, High End PVM'ers, who tend to be wannabe vloggers by sharing things they did for the day with apparently nobody.
      Reddit is the hometown of the noobs, returning players and casual playerbase who don't have the faintest idea of what to do next.
      Streamers usually fluctuate between these socials, advertising their TTV Links, and don't seem to be active in a particular media, it's more spread out.
      So what does this have to do with anything? Well, to me, it's fascinating watching the behavior of these people and their living conditions, because not everyone can be Trimmed but everyone can Max.
