Shakuntalam is the story of Shakuntala (whose role is played by SAMANTHA) adapted from Abhignyana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa and Mahabharata. Shakuntalam will release on 14 April 2023 at PAN INDIA level in five Indian languages Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Samantha plays the titular role of Shakuntala in the movie. National Award winning Gunasekhar is the director and Mani Sharma is the music director of this film.
In inida there is an ancient saying, Non volience is the foremost to follow but violence to uphold dharmam is the greatest. So, we really don't have that kind of moral dilemaa here in our culture, even our ancient epics like Mahabhratha talk about it. Voilence in itself isn't a bad thing, just like how a knife is, it's up to the weilder. So it boils down to the judiciary, but when it comes to the judiciary it's not a question of morality anymore, it's a question of Law and order

At the end of the 9-day festival in that place men visiting the temple would dress up as women, to offer prayers. The festival is many centuries old and it is to praise the valorous act of "Gangamma" slaying a local chieftain, to punish him for his demonic character of outraging the modesty of women. Hence Men dressing up as a woman to pay to respect to the goddess is considered an ‘ode’ to womanhood. I have no idea how this would help this story but I believe there will be something about this there in the movie. Hence the poster maybe.
