So funny thing with the kendama gift. Maybe this is reading too much into it, but it's symbolically a great present for their relationship. Firstly, it's one of the few things Miyuki doesn't seem to naturally suck at. Secondly, it also comes with a "pearl". Not guarded by a dragon, and not packed with hearts for some ultra romantic gesture, but just a humble, wooden ball. And it's still enough for Kaguya to love it.
I find it hilarious that in the manga, Kaguya is drawn to run somewhat normally (as an athletic person) and the anime took liberty of having her run like the GOD DAMN T1000! 100% on board, no notes
This movie does so much to improve the entire series. The last season had a romcom finale, but it wasn't realistic. It was all "entertainment." But here we see 2 hurt people, trying their best to accept love as it comes. And it's SO much more real.
For me the biggest scene here is the conversation at the hospital, when the Ice princess talks with the Little Kaguya As we see it, it feels like there're many Kaguyas, but it's actually just one, it's Kaguya trying to put a mask on, but she's unable to do so "Switch with me" as if she'd act nice again, not realizing it's still her, and the Little Kaguya reflects on how they're both the same person That's the big moment where the mask breaks, there's no more Ice Princess, no more Little Kaguya, it's just her, can't hide anymore
Can we take a moment to give some shine to Kaguya's voice actress, Aoi Koga? She manages to splendidly convey how differently each version of Kaguya is. You could close your eyes and easily tell which one is speaking. And so here we have it. The movie so good, the season finale we had feels incomplete in retrospect. They kissed, but nothing was resolved. Not the issues the kept them from dating for over a year and not their fears. If they just got together like this, it would not have been a healthy relationship.
Aoi Koga is one of the greatest VA in the industry right now imo. But because she didn't voice any popular waifus, she doesn't get the credit she deserves.
Man, I didn't realize people were as negative about the movie as they seem to be in the comments. Many have valid points and I don't mean to say that anyone is wrong, I just personally enjoyed it the first time and it's only gotten better as I've rewatched the series and movie again and again. Picking up on character traits and info I didn't the first time around, which added extra context and validity to what happens in the movie is something I really appreciate. Rewatches definitely aren't necessary, but I've found they help. I'm sure there's manga context and chapters that were done better than the anime, but isn't that kind of expected? Even with a full-length movie, there's only so much time you have to work with. And with a 4th season most likely coming, I'm just excited for more Kaguya content and storylines. Love all these characters and Alicia's reactions have been a blast the whole way through. Can't wait to see more from you!
At the end of the day, this is the story of two people who don't believe in unconditional love finding eachother. Congrats on making it halfway into Kaguya-sama's story.

Welp, now we're only missing the OVA (which is pretty lewd in the first part, so watch out) and the Season 3 Trailer/Teaser-Episode which is roughly 10 min. Hope you're watching these as well!
It basically taking each others mask off and show their weakness and vulnerability to each other. Miyuki had to learn that you don't need to be a perfectionist and it's okay to make mistakes because that's how you learn. For Kaguya, your past doesn't define who you are right now. It's okay to reach other and love others and form friendships despite your past. For Kaguya her biggest vulnerability is her self doubt and if it's okay to love despite her ice past. She will always beat herself down as a cold and heartless woman when she's in a funk. Her goal is to be a normal Japanese woman who won't be weighed down by the Shinomiya name. Either the movie ends at chapter 151. Season 4 will be at 152 right before the winter break ends. It will be heavy Iino/Ishigami centric and we get a best girl Hayasaka arc.
fun fact, the reason Maki went to India is because the mangaka had just gone there on vacation and they wanted an excuse to put the pictures in the manga lol
I watched this for the first time last night, half way through I wasn't sure where they were going with it, but them coming out and exposing their insecurities to each other and promising to lean on each other when it all gets to be too much just hit perfectly.
This movie changed how I saw these two. At first I hated them because of this stupid game they were playing with each other, but after seeing this I realized it wasn't their fault, it was their families' fault they're like this
I mean the thing you said "i hated" thats the major thing how kaguya sama become popular. PRIDE thing,HighSchool love, and thats intellectual people do sometimes they never back down 😂😂 and No one in anime do that thing yeah ofc somes come with reference. But man this is top.1 rom com for me. 💯 next to tora dora.
There is a large amount of hints that allows us to guess that these games come from insecurity that those two are feeling. You don't need the movie to finally understand it (even if it's true that some important chapters that explain it a bit further were skipped) Lot of people hate them like you said, because they don't think further than "silly games, silly romcom, pride arrogant..." and that's why so much people don't really enjoy this story to the fullest. I see so much people saying that it's not really a good romance, that it's a comedy above all, but it's so wrong.
i hated shirogane in this movie, he kept missing all the timing, he wasnt able to follow up on his beautiful balloons plan last season, and kaguya was basically throwing herself to him and he doesnt get it. kaguya was even console by her otherselves. shirogane was too much of a loser in this movie, its basically a kaguya movie.
Maybe you didn't catch it but at the end of the new opening its kaguya closing the memories book with an engagment ring so your head-canon of them being married is actually real canon
Alicia, now that you've caught up on Kaguya, I have a recommendation. The english dub is different enough in tone to be worth a rewatch on your own time, though not really for a reaction. I will be so sad if they don't adapt the last 12 volumes of this series. Seeing these two in a relationship is absolutely incredible and deserves to be animated as well
During the opening the last scene you can see kaguya close a book of memories with a engagement ring on. I think that's her in the future....there's still a lot to cover from the manga I hope they continue the anime with the "new game start" I'd like to think so.

You said your headcannon is that they're married and have babbies. So I have a surprise for you. go back to the opening and watch it to the very end. ;)
11:08 You have to remember that Hayasaka is just as sheltered as Kaguya and has a very particular view on how romance is supposed to go (that's why she dismissed Kaguya's "I love you, please go out with me" practice confession as boring). Anything outside of her very limited view is going to come off as downright perverted, especially given the fact that Japan is already has a very prudish culture. 20:03 Something that a lot of anime only watchers overlook is that Fujiwara is kind of a horrible person. She's selfish, backstabbing, hedonistic, rude, a serial cheater, narcissistic, and there's even a chapter the anime skipped over where it's spelled out that her treatment of Iino is textbook domestic abuse (the official relationship chart also lists her view as Iino as "a new toy"). That's not to say that she doesn't have virtues (she's really good at keeping a secret, and has a strong sense of justice so long as it doesn't directly interfere with her own desires), it's just that the bad usually outweighs the good. 44:20 Just be glad that you can watch it in all in one sitting rather than have to wait for each individual chapter to be published, because that was torture at the time. 1:06:54 There's one very important detail that the movie cuts out. Shirogane mentions at this point in the manga that his mother took Kei (who got better grades) with her when she left, and that's why he's convinced that she'll come back if he's successful. As for why Kei is back to living with her father and brother in the present day, it isn't really import to the current scene and is only really mentioned as part of her character profile in the final volume. 1:25:00 And here we see probably the biggest victim of the anime cutting things, Mikado. His name was first mentioned all the way back in chapter 4 of the manga as the only person in all of Japan to beat Shirogane's test scores in the national mock exam. Shirogane actually has "Beat Mikado" as one of the papers in his creepy study room and he also happens to be named after the emperor in The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (and is basically the closest thing that Princess Kaguya has to a proper love interest). Make of that what you will. 1:36:43 Yet another consequence of the anime moving things around. In the manga, there's actually a full 7 chapters between Christmas and their date that follow up on what everyone else was doing over Winter break (including Tsubame's Christmas party, where that flashback is explained in full). My biggest complaint about the movie is that they didn't just end it with them walking back to Fujiwara's house rather than jump ahead with zero context.
This was a great story one of my favorite anime for sure. I hope that you also eventually end up watching SpyxFamily also pretty much a rom-com with some action. And I saw that you commented about Food Wars a while ago, really fun, great story.
My recommendation for the next reaction series is Demon Slayer! Also, if anyone that agrees with me and actually has time to watch and comment on Alicia's livestreams could put forth my suggestion, that'd be great! I don't have time to do that between my job and life getting in the way. All I have time for is the TH-cam channel. Thanks!
I'm happy that you get almost every aspects of the characters, everything that makes this arc a masterpiece of writing. Lots of people didn't really get the point of this arc.
Please give Golden Kamuy a chance if you and Azu don't have too much on your to do list! Please at least watch the openings and endings and see if it's something you'd be interested in. People compare it to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure even though it's quite a bit different. Since you enjoyed Jojo's so much, you'd totally have fun with Golden Kamuy!
Am I the only one who hated the ending to this? I feel like in the manga it was better, mainly because it wasn't rushed. Also the confession scene, the anime ruined it. In the manga they both confessed to each other at the same time. Here only Kaguya does, it feels like only she felt confessing.
the anime will have a 4th season, so they will keep adapting the manga, if that's what you meant, if about how they handled the movie, to each their own i guess.
>In the manga they both confessed to each other at the same time. This is a common misconception in the way the speech bubbles are presented in the manga but it's was always Kaguya who had confessed. Every student council member has their own speech bubble style and both bubbles on that scene are Kaguya-styled, saying "I love you, please be my boyfriend." the same way she brought it up to Hayasaka in S3 ep 12(chapter 132). It's also thematically appropriate that the "Kaguya-sama wants to be confessed to" their relationship starts with Kaguya being the one confessing. I mean the editor note on the chapter is "Kaguya... Has confessed." It doesn't get more direct than that. But I agree the mall chapter got rushed a bit to fit into the movie. I really wanted to see the full speech from papagane adapted.
This movie has a lot of good and bad points going for it. However the bad just heavily outweighs the good by a huge margin. The obstacle of them revealing their deepest vulnerabilities to each other is such a massive stepping stone in their relationship ... However, they went too far with Ice Queen Kaguya. Playing Hard-To-Get and Tsundere tropes are one thing but then *physical, verbal and physiological abuse* were too far. I share Alicia's viewpoint on this subject. This is very much a projection of self hate and the environment she was raised in but they could have handled it way better. Not to mention, the rapid back-and-forth between comedy and seriousness with only added to the uncomfortableness. This hurts so much more to people who have suffered similar situations in previous toxic relationships. I love Love Is War with all my heart but this movie was certainly its lowpoint for many.
Eh, I think everyone should see that as something off with Kaguya and there is something wrong. While I’m also against abuse in a relationship, to me, especially if it’s something that’s out of character or a sudden defense mechanism was triggered, you should at first at least try to figure out the problem before just leaving. This movie even suggests that, and that part of the “abuse” that Kaguya gives is not intentional. Moreover I’m pretty sure that Kaguya will not do most of that again because the defense mechanism has been broken and their relationship is deeper. But it does imply we might have to deal with others that can be abusive and be more intentional about it in the future.
“Low point for many” is a MASSIVE overstatement. The movie was an absolute critical and financial success, with the general opinion of the fandom about it being that it’s a massive step forward from the finale of the Cultural Festival Arc. Hell, as a manga reader it remained my favorite part of the series even long past it. And that’s actually a pretty common opinion, since this point in time (The First Kiss that Never Ends and the Christmas Party which will probably come in season 4) is basically considered the climax in the series. Sure, there’s a vocal minority complaining about some of the things you commented about, which are a couple of valid criticisms (although, to me not nearly as huge as you’re making them look) but that’s all it is. A bunch of TH-cam comments under specific reactions isn’t the general consensus, which is easily understood through the reviews and the discussions around the movie. I feel like it all comes down to Ice Kaguya’s execution, which even though it could’ve been better was absolutely not “horrible” or a massive turn off like some people try to frame it. And the constant switch between comedy and seriousness has and will always be a part of Love is War. For example, a serious theme like the idea of “hiding your true self” with Hayasaka in season 3 was treated with a rap battle and Kaguya pulling a Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s absolutely a standard for the series. Kaguya or even other characters sometimes acting in a way that can definitely be seen as mean or just full on hurtful and “abuse” also isn’t uncommon in the show. The way Iino acts with Ishigami, how HE acts with most people (commenting and making fun of other people’s bodies behind their back also isn’t cool, but guess who does it anyways), how Kaguya acts with Ishigami, Chika or Hayasaka (as if she doesn’t often resort to verbal abuse, manipulation, or just doesn’t really think about their feelings depending on the episode), so on and so forth. It was definitely a bit TOO heavy handed in The First Kiss That Never Ends and that shows, since a discussion around it went on for a bit, but it’s still not that big a deal. It’s not meant to be a super accurate depiction of abuse, it’s at worst just badly timed physical comedy.
@@spicethief4826 I mean Miyuki basically says "I knew what I was signing up for, and it never bothered me." when Kaguya brings up how bad she used to be during their final confrontation at the park. You need to remember that Miyuki has known Ice Kaguya longer than the Kaguya we see through the seasons. The show (to this point) takes 7-8 months from the spring to the end of the year. Miyuki has known Ice Kaguya for a year before all of the story we have seen went down.
Sorry if you went through a toxic relationship, but even so, I can't see how this movie can remind you of it. The abuse, as you call it, is clearly not serious. It is a comedy, kaguya and shirogane are anime characters with a behavior that is not realistic at all, their actions and reactions are exaggerated to the extreme. And it's been the case since the beginning. To enjoy this movie, we have just to make the difference between what is meant to be taken seriously, and what is comic relief. And I think that it's pretty easy to see it.

The anime movie bottle has been uncorked, gotta recommend A Silent Voice
Yeah... About Tsubame... Remember that haaaard lesson we all learned about never idealize someone? ...
Tsubame never did anything that bad. There wasn't anything mean behind her actions. I'm sure alicia will not hate her like some ppl do...
@@riwen0851 Sure enough, but then again how is the road to hell paved?
This was a great story one of my favorite anime for sure. I hope that you also eventually end up watching SpyxFamily also pretty much a rom-com with some action. And I saw that you commented about Food Wars a while ago, really fun, great story.
I suggest reacting to Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms. Great movie
you really need to watch the 2019 reboot of Fruits Basket after this.
Man, I can't wait until season 4
Considering there is more manga after this, there might be more anime in the future.
Never reacted to any movie on the channel before? What about that modern classic romance with Colonel Sanders? =p
LMAOOOO bless an OG and a real one 😂
the best romance anime indeed
Kaguya sama really the peak romcom anime
im hoping for 2 more seasons or 1 long one with the amount of story left
There's a long way to go. The movie ends at chapter 151 the manga ended at chapter 281
I'm new here, so are you already planned to watch spy x family? I'll waiting you to watch that❤
Another day of suggesting Alicia to watch the Emesis Blue SFM movie!
Does she know TF2 lore?
@@rygornspectre7142 I think she knows enough
Bro this movie is my romance creed
Shirogane is such a spineless trash, right? I hated him so much when read this arc in manga years ago.
Day 66 of asking Alicia to play Nier: Automata!!
Wacth as well the My hero academia movies
Manga time!!!!!
O kawaii koto!
@@asdfhenry ik there's gonna be a Fourth season, I was talking about the ending to the movie
@@manvslife271 actually? I haven't read the manga in a while, and i never noticed that. Thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding.
@@manvslife271I could see Season 4 maybe starting on their date and going more in depth. Although that’s very interesting.
And I think that it's pretty easy to see it.
i really hated this movie, shirogane just kept being a weak little scaredy bich in this movie, i hated him with my all, his efforts from the last season was thrown off the window because he cant follow up with it. kaguya kept doing the efforts and he cant reciprocate
even kaguya got console by her other selves, how loser can shirogane can be. i really hated him in this movie
