From someone who is currently living this reality after losing our beautiful twin girls in June of this year the words in this song hit so close to home and sums up perfectly our thoughts.
May God give you the necessary strength, sufficient spiritual peace and the exact light to go through that unquantifiable pain and be able to overcome the emptiness and sadness. Every word that exists is useless and there is no balm that calms the restlessness, the pain and the sarrow. I know that. Nothing in this world can fill that void either, but although I don't know you, I wish you to obtain strength from where there is none and that love covers you to be able to face misfortune. I joined the family of bereaved parents in 1984, and then lost my 20 year old daughter in 1998. On the darkest days, reach out, there are so many who are going through this grief and loss. Three years ago today we announced a pregnancy that didn’t last. This song randomly came up on my playlist. Thank you for giving voice to that grief, the dream, the reality of a partner helping someone through that grief. It helps to continue to destigmatize these types of conversations. ❤❤❤

I am so sorry if James and his spouse went through this loss. I went through it twice, before finally having my two kids and you never quite get over this type of loss. I remember those two babies all the time, so in a way, they ARE, vs never was. My heart goes out to folks who have experienced losing a child through miscarriage, you are NOT to blame ❤ 💔 😢

That's heartbreakingly beautiful. I am too young to have lived that, but as a woman with 30 percent of chances of being infertile (thanks to endometriosis), it just makes me break into tears. Also, if you wrote it, it's for a reason. You are so strong. And to anyone going through this, remember that you are strong. And like James said, you're not to blame. You'll never be the one to blame.

James this song is full of emotions and touches my heart, it's beautiful. This describes exactly how I felt when I carried my child under my heart for nine months and then gave birth to him stillborn. Then the world fell apart for me, but life went on and it now shines in the sky.😢👶🫶🙏😭♥️

This song touched me I loss my first baby on 3rd may 2020 and this really touched my heart word describe everything what I’ve been threw and it was in first year off lockdown it didn’t help that either yes I use blame myself when I know it not my fault and I was In hospital I remembered what hospital said when I had my first ever scan they said everything is fine it wasn’t I had a appointment in few weeks later they asked if your baby dad there and I said he was out waiting for me they asked me if he come in for min they sat both off. Together said to both off you sorry your having a ectopic pregnancy 😢 then they said your going too have it removed I never ever felt pain I was crying I wouldn’t stop I was all alone in hospital on my own scared then I said it over now actually what this song says thank you to James blunt making this songs for mothers and fathers who have loss there babies x

I love this song. We were adopting a baby girl from India, we named her and they canceled it. A year later that baby came from Korea and as broken hearted as I was when we lost the first one I knew we got the right one.
James you have two sons so this could be from your experience. We had 3 children first and we had to sell our home to complete our family. There is no difference where a baby comes from and you would not have had to sell your home. Trust me, we helped raise 50 of them.
