In this edition of Tarikh, Prateeksha talks about the conspiracy to assassinate Indira Gandhi. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated at 9:29 a.m. on 31 October 1984 at her residence at Safdarjung Road, New Delhi. She was killed by PM Security guards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh in the aftermath of Operation Blue Star. In the aftermath, 4 people in Prime Minister Security were charged with conspiracy including Beant Singh, who was shot dead at the scene of crime. The other three were, Satwant Singh Balbir Singh and Kehar Singh.
All three of them were sentenced to death by sessions court and high court. The supreme court later revered the death penalty of Balbir singh and found him innocent. The other two convicts were hanged till death on 6 January 1989. What was the role of Kehar singh in Indira gandhi’s Assassination Conspiracy? How Satwant got Involved? One genuine suggestion, can you also cover a report on the events of June same year.when darbar sahib Amritsar amongst 40 other gurudwaras were attacked and pilgrims (from all faiths) were killed and tortured?not just an official version of events but well researched version from ground.. that would be better insight to the cascades.
