Afterwards I started to notice the same thing happening with CPUs, but this time in the middle of the platform. I don’t know what causes the second version to occur so maybe you would know something about that?
the “sticky ledge“ thing is probably because in previous games when you would run off the ledge for an edgeguard and then accidentally double jump immediatly instead of a normal ground jump
@@Rasminger I don't think it's a mechanic as much as the physics body having a wonky threshold of floor vs not floor at the ledge. Again, it's already incredibly hard to see, there's no way it's supposed to be something players experience.
Fact: If Mr. Game & Watch wears a Franklin Badge, it will disappear when he uses a special move, a tilt attack, and down smash for some reason. It still works even though it doesn’t appear. In training stage units, it goes 12.6 rather than 10.2.
Has to do with certain animations using a flag that hides items. They're more often seen on characters who already use weapons, since those weapon animations clash with the item's placement. G&W uses a lot of gimmicks and weapons, and in fact his whole model often transforms, so it doesn't surprise me that items often disappear.
Maybe the special flag doesn’t work in stamina custom smash because someone who is metal and giant won’t flinch while using the special flag? Letting them get unlimited free stocks? Just a guess, love the series!
How does drowning interact with character states that automatically reset or end on a timer? If, for example, Pyra starts panicking, then jumps, throws out Blazing End, and then drowns, what happens to the sword? Is it the same as if she's already dead, or does it return to her?
It could be fun for you to stream you investigating and testing the facts. I know you said you like writing the scripts at the same time, but I think that’d be fun
(11:22) If it was just a weird S-flag and stamina mode combination, it's still worth bringing up. - I think the reason is for this is that; the only way you could play stamina mode before was through Special Smash, and there was no stocks back then, so S-flag can't spawn. I guess this is an oversight they forgot to remove.
Did you know Steve can somewhat control the trajectory of Spicy Curry flames with his head tilt mechanic This makes this passive trait actually usefully in some sense
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe characters drown faster at higher %. With that, drowning can still atleast be a small threat even if jumping out resets the panicked swimming timer.
Maybe the invincibility indicator in training mode doesn’t appear because the character doesn’t become invincible: the hurt box itself just completely disappears
When playing on a custom stage, some of the CPUs have trouble recovering onto a ledge. For example, for sephiroth, sometimes he will recover over the ledge, instead of directly onto it. And for Min Min, most of the time, she will air dodge from very far away and then she will try to use her up special (In my experience). For Rob, it will use its up special as low as possible from the ledge and use all of its fuel. It will always go as low as possible, even if it doesn't have enough fuel, so it ends up killing itself
6:36 another thing about footstools is if you're wearing a bunny hood you seem to jump lower instead of higher. I found this out a while back and I'm not sure if it still works or not
I kinda wonder if the Special Flag not spawning is a bug from building off of Smash 4's code, since Stamina Mode in that game was only in Special Smash and only allowed one stock.
my only guess with the Stamina Mode, Special Smash and S-Flag thing, is it's a leftover from Smash 4, back when Stamina Mode was a Special Smash and only 1 stock, but they never fixed it when going over to Ultimate where Stamina is now a ruleset
In regards to the whole Stamina/Special Smash/S Flag thing, it may be because if a fighter were to run out of Stamina because of a flower while in the S Flag pose, the game may not know how to handle that? I'll likely test this myself and get back to you on that, though.
Actually, you CAN save a fighter from drowning...or at least delay it. For whatever reason, if you hit a fighter with a windbox that sends them upwards RIGHT before they drown, they will be lifted out of the water. However, they will still be in their drowning state, and will slowly sink down through the stage, completely intangible, until they die. A good way to see this is on Tortimer Island, with Greninja's Hydro Pump and giving the opponent some percent so they get launched a decent distance by it. It may take a few attempts to get the timing right, but you can use visual cues in the victim's panicking animation to help you time the Hydro Pump.
I'd also like to point out that "up-to-jump" is forced-active (for some reason) on more than just Ledges and Water. For example, up also makes you wall-tech-jump if you wall-tech, including times where Ulti turns your airdodge out of hitstun into a tech and decides your recovery attempt is now zooming away from the stage, thanks so much!
The mini/mega footstool jump distance reminds me of how movement specials' distances are longer/shorter. The funniest thing is going into mega mushroom mega smash or mini mushroom mini smash for stuff like ganon up/down/sideB which can go nowhere turn him into a missile.
To me the weirdest Superspicy Curry animation will always be Toon Link's. He jsut spins around like maniac and yet the fire will always come out in front of him. It kinda defeats the idea that the curry fire is coming out of his mouth, I dunno. It's still funny.
Special Smash should really just be part of the rules. Have a section in the rules called something like "special attributes", where you can set the size, weight, speed and such. Preferably with more steps for size, weight and speed, and if possible, allow for higher and lower values than it's currently. Add more options, like the option to disable certain actions. Melee has a mode where you could only attack and jump, with shield and special being disabled; let us have that too. No separate special smash menu option. Let us run special rules in a tournament, online, in smash down and so on.
I think the custom smash s flag thing is because stamina mode used to be in custom smash in smash 4 and s-flags didn't spawn on stamina mode in smash 4
The name "the sticky dance" works well for Steve, since his ledge hang animation is his crouch animation. And if you spam the default crouch button (shift) in Minecraft on PC, you get the Sticky Keys pop-up if you don't have it disabled.
My best guess on why the Special Flag doesn’t spawn in custom smash is because it’s a holdover from how the item worked in Smash 4. The Special Flag gives you +1 point or stock, depending on the mode you’re playing. In Smash 4, when stamina was only in custom smash, you could only ever have one stock. My guess is the game automatically turned the Special Flag off to prevent some game breaking issue. However, Ultimate made stamina mode a regular mode and added the ability to have multiple stocks in a stamina match. This makes the Special Flag able to work properly in a stamina match. However when playing a stamina match in custom smash, the game reverts back to Smash 4 logic where it thinks Special Flags will break the game, making them not spawn.
The drowning fix on Kirby could have been when they changed how stages work with Steve's addition. The height could have slightly changed similar how to the top platform of Yoshi's was slightly lower.
Fun fact: You can make the figure in the Assist Trophy disappear for a few frames! What you'll need: - Mega Man with a Final Smash - Assist Trophy - Another character to connect the FS. Space Mega Man where the portal connects the FS but also is on the Assist Trophy. ID (Smash Shared Content) for demonstration: S2KTWYLY
I wonder if the Special Flag being disabled in Special Smash is a leftover from Smash 4. In Ultimate, Stamina is a regular rule set just like Stock and Time, but in Smash 4, Stamina was a Special Smash option. Also, you could only have one stock in Stamina mode in Smash 4, so the Special Flag may have been disabled for that reason. Or, as someone else said, maybe it's because Metal and Giant Smash would have prevented flinching and that would have made the item too OP.
The "Teeter Totter" is a good name for the opening tech. It's short, but it gets the point across. You're also able to say you Teeter Tottered on your opponent.

If the opponent is slow you cannot hit the early version since the opponent isn't there yet, and to hit the strong one you need to press earlier than usual, the opponent will kinda teleport forwards into the attack, if you don't press anything then Incineror gives up before his opponent crashes into him.
4:00 they probably just removed the water "zone" that tells players when to enter the drowning animation or just lowered it too much After all, those kinds of things can be invisibly if they really want They just leave the water but reduce/remove the zone
The S-Flag not appearing in Stamina mode might be leftover code from Smash 4. Remember that Ultimate is the first time stamina can be played with stocks. They probably banned the flag from stamina in the last game and forgot to add it in now. Edit: Nevermind, I just saw it does work without Custom Smash
i feel like characters drowning and falling through the ground would be to stop people from getting stuck underwater because realistically, you cant just get up after drowning and hitting the ground
I think the Steve curry animation is a reference to when you are on fire in the game you want to run around and jump to deplete your hunger quickly so you can eat food and heal. But it's sounds like as strange reference but then again one of Simons victory screens is also a reference to things players did in games that weren't what you were intended to do in those situations.

In Ultimate, Stamina is a regular rule set just like Stock and Time, but in Smash 4, Stamina was a Special Smash option. @@tiffyw92 Pretty good. A little cold, but got used to it. Glad physics made it so there are respawn platforms.
“I hope I have subscribers tomorrow here’s a chart” amazing
i feel like characters drowning and falling through the ground would be to stop people from getting stuck underwater because realistically, you cant just get up after drowning and hitting the ground
On "Venom" if you turn your camera all the way upwards, you can see that the Sky box isn't completely filled in
I think the Steve curry animation is a reference to when you are on fire in the game you want to run around and jump to deplete your hunger quickly so you can eat food and heal. But it's sounds like as strange reference but then again one of Simons victory screens is also a reference to things players did in games that weren't what you were intended to do in those situations.
How does depleting hunger help? Don't you just recover naturally when you're full?
@@velvetbutterfly no only initially
Stage morph at the exact same time as that time slow Pokémon can create an ultra slow game state for an extended period which is pretty wild

Sticky dance? Sticky shuffle rymes.
I'm sorry was that supposed to be plr_upward at the end? I didn't even know someone made that a thing.
8:17 yay
The Sticky Dance is clearly when the kids try mom's new toy at night.
Pog new upload!
13:21 It was hilarious to see that demo man get shat on twice in a row
In the next smash, I want better water physics, such as drowning in kiddy pools, water pokemon swimming forever, and other things like that.
Oh Nintendo
There's a small glitch that doesn't affect compeitive play, doesn't affect normal play, and actually benefits casual play. That's a neat tidbit for anyone who wants to explore your stages and try it. That's not a bug. That's *_content_*
Going along with the alolan whip fact, I think it has also can happen when Shulk is in his speed monado art!
