1. Hymn to Ivar 00:00 2. The End of Days (Monolith II) 01:28 3. My Kingdom Rise 10:55 4. White Beast From Hel 15:26 5. Nordmænnens Raseri 21:41 6. Light Up the Sky 26:06 7. Allfaðir 29"57 8. Hymns to the North 33:44
This gives me like "jazz of black metal" vibes. Pagan black metal isn't typically my jam but this album is definitely excellent and changes my opinion on the subgenre. That drummer is a beast, this is some extremely technical drumming on here
amaizing álbum 10/10 BMP (╬▔皿▔)╯Hymns To The Norse, draws heavily on the ancient folk music of the Scandinavian region. With its raw and lo-fi sound, its haunting vocals, its sejd drums, its Hammond organs and its haunting atmospheres, this album pushes the boundaries of Black Metal while exploring its Nordic roots. Hymns To The Norse takes you back in time... and brings the past back to you. Hail Seid₆₆₆
One of the best albums this year and my absolute top🖤 Very coherent and well-composed from start to finish on every layer: music, lyrics, mixing and mastering, artwork. Every track echoes the ancient chants of gods and heroes. It literally takes me back to a time when the threads of fate were woven by the divine hands of the Norns. 'Even the gods must bend to fate' was written in Hávamál. Thanks to the band for another journey to the world of ancient Scandinavian heritage, pagan black metal, and the Vikings' legacy. Whatever SEID does - they never ever disappoint. Skål!

I am not convinced this is breaking new ground (WTF is everyone on...maybe if this was the first BM album you ever listened to) but it IS grim as hell and enjoyable to hear this style played well. The emphasis on the drums and cleaner production makes it pack a punch not so common in the genre. I would broadly describe this as a fusion of Bathory's entire discography (IE: the rawness of Under the Sign... and combined with the epics of viking years). Other groups who play this style include Havukruunu and Moonsorrow. Just my 2 cents.

@@QuestionThings123 You are right, and some parts, for example the interlude within The End of Days track was even called that jazzy part. haha
