The song "Gravity" has been likened to a fight with drug addiction, struggling with toxic/abusive relationships, etc. This song is not only in her range, it's in her wheelhouse, and it makes complete sense why that's one of the songs in her repertoire. Sometimes, you get stuck in one genre, trying to pigeonhole people where you think they fit best, meanwhile negating what the performer what's to show of themselves. She repeatedly said she has sung as characters, but this time she wants to sing as herself. Pop can go theatre, Theatre can go pop. I'd buy a ticket to see her in concert, today--and fly to Britain to attend. Her theatrical and crazy-controlled voice have transfixed me. You got this one wrong, my dear.
Whilst I agree that Rachael could sing anything, you must remember that Simon only sees £ signs when he gives advice ~ I'm not saying that is wrong, because it depends on what level of success is required.
The fact that she was eliminated from the competition after this, shows how much influence Simon still has over voters. He obviously didn't want her to win. He has said over and over, on American Idol, that he doesn't like theater singers, he thinks they are too dramatic. Rachel has one of the purest voices I have ever heard.

I WANT A CONCERT! She's spellbinding vocally, visually, and brings me to tears. Were I to choose a number, it would be UNEXPECTED SONG from the musical "Song And Dance." Failure of a musical production with one doorbuster song that she could not only wow with the lyrics, but also the grueling range of the melody.

I stumbled across Rachael's first performance somehow and was absolutely captivated by her spirit and her drive and her voice. She is AMAZING. I decided to find out how she did in the competition and ended up here. Understand this is my absolute FAVORITE Sarah Bareilles song. I have 2 daughters now in their early 20's and we use to sing this song every weekend driving around touring the countryside. I LOVE THIS SONG. Rachael did an amazing job singing this song. If you are ever in Atlanta let me know and I will have my girls meet you at a Karaoke bar and you all will have a fantastic time lol. So now I landed here after time. Well, Rachel. SHE already has left a permanent mark in my mind when I was at Bochum for visiting a musical evening once. Back in 2002 . She was much younger still at that time but soo energetic. I also saw her after the show once again in the lobby when the cast members gave autographs. She has experience in musical dancing (various) and of course, also in singing. I still remember her (and the other cast, making up the "starlight express train", skating along these tracks many times, with a quite a lot of speed and rolling noise), at where I was sitting in the audience, in the musical building which was specially built, customized, for just this musical. Always with a smile on her Lips. The "dining car - Dinah" is what she exactly has impersonated in the musical "Starlight Express" for some time as part of the cast. ("Dinah" was obviously her second role, since she also played "Pearl" if that one got to be performed on the stage in a different or maybe in the main cast assembly these times). Well what a career up to now, while reading her biography.
