Honestly I also think the MV looks a bit off. I's kinda hard to explain but it doesn't have to do with the concept and look but instead the actual camera angles; timing; how the shots are taken.... that sort of thing. They don't seem to match up to the music very well 🤷🏻♀️
I'm really looking forward to seeing more of them though, the girls themselves really shine and make this MV 💕
b yeah I like the actual shots and effects but as someone who is studying video production and wants to become a music video director I feel that the actual timing of things should always fit with the music. Aaaa it's hard to explain but as I said it has nothing to do with aesthetic but the execution 😖
b well I was a student for 1 year at college but now I'm self learning from TH-cam (I've learn't more from on here than I ever did at college 😂) also I focused on the actual aesthetics and plot more than anything!
Ok I'll try and explain as best as I can but don't expect anything amazing because I'm lazy af and ain't bout to write an essay 😂
1. 1:44 : feel like that could have used a more interesting / tension raising shot for the build up rather than a boring close up that doesn't hype me up at all
2. 1:53 : shot was cut too early, should have waited till she had finished saying the word
3. 2:46 : idk why these car shots bothers me. Just kinda boring with the angles I guess 🤷🏻♀️
4. 2:52 : would have looked better with an artistic shot rather than one from the dance parts (like it's just her walking so whats the point?)
Also the nananana bon bon chocolat dance breaks like at 3:20 are the same each time with only slight variation. I think if would have been a lot more impactful / interesting to change up the shots / not focused on the dance for at least one out of the 3 times they do it as it looks repetitive.

@@Oopsydaisie yeah, got it! Especially at the end of the video, when the girls were throwing the yellow papers balls. I'm an audiovisual student too and I was like 'oh, ok, this doesn't bother me but it doesn't match that well (which is a shame since all of the sets are super gorg)'; also, idk why but I felt like the jump between light to light in that exact part was a little off/ weird too. Still, I found this MV so nice and so pleasant, we have a lot of things to see so I'm really excited about this group's future! BTW, maybe we feel like this is not a conventional way of editing (at least not in all the parts) because this wasn't just rhythmic, sometimes I even felt that it was a metric one? Idk, lol.

lia kim was the one who choreographed for them!! && i’m so glad it’s not only me who finds the ‘everything everything you gotta want my everything’ part sort of touching it just feels like they’re yearning with the almost aggressive way they’re delivering the lyrics but with the synth in background it’s got this like p o w e r

Tbh, Everglow does have a stronger debut. The only problem I see is with the dance blocking (not to be confused with choreography). Also I think JYP is just loaded with cash so plus to ITZY on that.

So yuehua collaborates with other companies too. For example, the Chinese members in WJSN are/were Yuehua trainees and WJSN was a collaboration between Starship and Yuehua. Yuehua is slowly expanding into Korea, like how UNIQ used to practice at YG's building and one member is really good friends with WINNER. Yuehua produced a boygroup called Nex7 and they are the RAGE IN CHINA RN. Everglow is iconic in the way that this is a Chinese label, chartering into Kpop. I just wish knetz would stop with this evident Xenophobia and just let these talented girls shine.

Because my first time listening to the song I had to rewind it so many times because I wanted to make sure I was hearing all the effects or lack there off when the first chorus was happening vs the second and third and the melancholy effects . It’s very dream like and sad but also dark trap music vibes ! Lol LOVED YOUR REACTION ! I’m really glad you like them❤️

Their label is actually Yuehua Korea, which is a “sub-label” with two ceos that are dedicated for the korean market with artist such as Everglow, HyeongseopXEuiwong, WJSN, etc. Please support them!💕
It kind of sounds like a boy group song. It's so strong and powerful. Definitely one of the best girl group sounds of 2019

Why is izone disbanding?
The pre-chorus sounds strangely sentimental because the song's message is sentimental. The lyrics talk about the struggle they've been through during the trainee days, and the mixed emotions they've gotten from finally being able to debut.

I feel like the song gives off a vibe of confidently moving forward in an uncertain future. The lyrics are also very fitting for a newly debuted group.
I like it when groups surprise me and they definitely did that. The song and MV are amazing and I appreciate that they go for a more sexy, mature and dark hard bass song because I love those the most and you barely see them from girl groups.

Dude, til this day, Bon Bon Chocolat is my favorite song of Everglow, in my top 10 girl group songs, and one of my favorite Kpop songs of all time.
The strings in the “everything” section give me CHILLS. That sad chord in there is unexpected but holds so much power. Thank you for pointing it out because it’s by far my favourite thing about the song.
I'm in South Korea rn and I saw them in a few music shows already and they are really good! And I don't think that people in Korea are ignoring them, cause comparing with other rookie groups promoting at the moment (and even non rookie groups, like KARD), they had a lot of fans in their pre recordings. They will probably hit big in the future.

I could actually hear the ''melancholic'' back melody you were talking about right away in my first listens to the song and it's one of the reasons I come back to it all the time. It just gives it that extra depth, I love it.

Just so you know Everglow is actually under very well known Chinese company called Yuehua entertainment which also made group called Uniq which they promoted in China and South Korea as well. One member form Uniq also wrote a song for idol producer which is show like producer 48 and mixnine shows like that .
Also also trainee’s from company are Chinese survival shows like idol producer , idol producer season 2 & all for one which the show that NCT Chinese group WayV is on . They all really amazing group . And all really good looking 💓😱😫😍

Every time I listen to this song, I notice something new. If you listen to the sound effects and how many there are, it's pretty simplistic, but it's how and when they are used, makes it great. The audio/music producer is a genius

I like that you picked up on that "sentimental" factor in the pre-chorus, too - I thought it was strings that kinda juxtaposed the choreo and trap beat = SUPER DOPE. That final pre-chorus stomp was an excellent touch, too; it keeps playing in my head

As other comments have said, Bon Bon Chocolat can be translated to mean Good Good Chocolate, but bonbons can also be sweets/candy if I remember correctly (si j’ai tort, corrigez-moi s’il vous plaît. Je suis juste in britannique idiot)

this is the best debut of 2019 almost halfway through the year and there’s nothing that beats this plus all the girls are fantastic, ngl I didn’t like the song at first bc of the distracting auto tune but the more I listened the more I couldn’t stop listening to it
This is my favorite rookie group even though ITZY is good I think that if EVERGLOW was more hyped up like ITZY they would’ve had more exposure and fame.
That wooden-pipes-vacuumish sound in the second and third chorus is absolutely incredible. Listen to it LOUD. And the "emotional tone" you're talking about is strings, my bet is on pitched violin. It brings a lot of soul and texture to the pre-chorus.
His reaction to the hip motions with mouth agape is the correct response lol. Everglow came out firing. No dipping the toes in the shallow end to see if the water was warm, they did a cannonball right into the deep end and made a huge splash.
