Ernie's deep timbre is impressive but that was not the only component of the utter depth of comprehension of musical understanding. And there was some deep pain or anguish and I perceived. A knowing of his own future When he sing the verse when she goes down ....... ( There is a. Good little pause b4 he completes sentence ) he sing her tops will shiver I think there are some wheel turning in his brain definitely an introspective revelation going through him. Great presence on stage very eloquent. In his Enunciation of his words and he seems well read and probably really was enchanted by the countrysides
I listen again and again. What a treasure, the human voice, deep in the canyons or soaring in the heavens. Can't help but wonder why the voice evolved so. Perhaps to command one's fellows and to hail others at great distances. Evidently, our prehistoric ancestors' voices were not equipped physically to do anything like TEF and Sissel could do in such stunning performances.
once again let me add my thanks for posting these wonderful songs and their singers. Tennessee Ern and Miss Sissel are without peer/timeless. I can't thank you enough for refreshing old old memories.
I'm sorry I didn't find this long ago. I heard Sissel for the first time singing with The Mormon Tab. Choir years ago and have been a fan since. And Lordy ! . . . Mr. Ford is still the singer of choice at Christmas.
This is just fantastic!! Always loved Tennessee Ernie Ford...and just truly adore hearing beautiful Sissel. What a lovely rendition of this beautiful song. I am thoroughly enjoying listening to this. It is so very beautiful!! Thank you.
Contralto??? She's a soprano. Mary Travers was a contralto. And TEF is a baritone/bass. Just listen to the first tone he produces in this wonderful performance. Regardless, neither of them could be topped.
Absolutely transcendent yet hauntingly poignant the. Ernie Ford was of a particular pedigree , almost supernatural and. As if he was thinking about how he would be. Heard long after his death Anyone who considers themselves a musician of any kind. Would instantly realize that there was a power to not only Ernie's music to see beyond the. Fold. N But the production quality was perfection the accordions Lilting or just breathing combined with the backdrop of the wilderness and. The cold sounding wind Does anyone know if he is the original author. Of the tune
If that was the only thing to contend with I could handle it. But the voice that finds a sweet note and relaxes into it just breaks me up and wrings my heart.
Los Más EXTRAORDINARIOS CREADORES de MILAGROS en SONIDOS del MUNDO del CANTO, no han podido INVENTAR una VOZ similar , a la de SISSEL...Un ÁNGEL musical, hecho...;MUJER !!!
I love both of these versions, I just wish the regular video of Just Tennessee Ernie Ford was the same quality as this. It's got a lot of high-end static, and I like listening to these two perform the song straight through individually. That said, this still rules.
Thank you for the incredible mixing and having the inspiration to do it. Moving the whistle cameo to the closing was absolute genius. I tip my hat to you !!!
Tennessee Ernie Ford's version of this classic song is simply brilliant, whereas Sissel's interpretation - I'm sorry to have to say this - falls well short.
HI, DO you have a TEF show from the early 60's that has two kids singing "Yes Jesus Loves Me" with TEF. At one point the young boy plays the coke bottle. I would dure like to see it. My brother is the kid on the coke bottle. If you have it can you please post it.
A woman singing a song and a man singing the same is not equivalent. It's an apple versus an orange. I like them both and they don't compete but add to the canon of music. It's my win not their loss. TEF is not bested by Sissel nor Sissel by him. They add to the combined glory.
Beautiful song, but they are singing in two different keys. I like the recordings separately but I don't think it was a good idea to put them together.
Tennessee Ernie Ford Website has the definitive source to view his life. He had perfect pitch and tone quality as his trademark, not to mention his very masculine voice. Most of his songs recorded were gospel the webpage is the source for Ernie Ford's life. I noticed the female sang the atheists theme song Imagine by John Lennon while doing some hymns at the same time. What does this say about her? These two singers have no place in the same video.
Beautiful voice, beautiful song. Thank you God.
I feel the same way! ❤ Amen!
Ernie Ford was one of the great ones! I saw him perform at the Ohio State Fair when I was a kid and I will never forget it.
Simply magnificent. God bless their souls.
I like the contrasting voices on this video. ❤❤❤
tears come every time hearing this
I love the song shenandoah so much. It got me right in my boyhood years. Praise God for this.
Great as can b

Dear John Minton...How right you are!! 👏👏😃😃
Two Remarkable classic voices -- in baritone and soprano here -- that will endure throughout any timeframe....
Can't wait to share this with my 82 yr old dad, he loved TEF and he will certainly love Sissel. Thank you Norway!

What a beautiful contrast. The woman is gorgeous, on top of that fact.
God is good to ALL of us
Makes me long for something like the Ford Show today. What a nice blend of two outstanding singers.

And yet, it sounds so beautiful together like this.
My two favorite versions..together.. great!

Thank you for combining these two fabulous voices! ❤️💐
Amazing classic! Only the masters could do it. Thanks for the post of this song and video.
I wish so much that she had sung along with Tennessee Ernie's voice and that hey had dueted part of the song. It would have been great.
Bascomblodge The was done by someone that edited the two songs, I think that he did a fantastic job👍
both beautiful voices blending in perfectly..... Must watch.
This song is one of my favorites. This song is beautifully sung by Sissel
This is a great match up . Wow! I loved it, it gave me goose bumps .. I always loved Ernie Ford .. What a great combo!

I always liked TEF and I love Sissel. ❤️
Love the juxtaposition. America. Norway. Singing a heavily Scots-Irish imbued tune. Awesome.
What a baritone; what a contralto!

wow!!!! The BEST Ever!!!! IT JUST DON'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT.
tears, tears, tears!
Awesome! Love it.

You could say this combo is Tennessee Ernie Fjord. ;)
I LOVE IT ---AWESOME
Un ange de plus, descendu sur terre...trop rare!
I never thought much of TEF until I heard that. Changed my opinion....thats a great performance
This song touches my very Soul💕
Her eyes are amazing
If that was the only thing to contend with I could handle it. But the voice that finds a sweet note and relaxes into it just breaks me up and wrings my heart.
Exquisite. Thank you.
powerful thanks Dave

THANK YOU!!! I could not think of where I'd seen that pipe player before. :)
Very nicely done.
What a wonderful combination. I really enjoyed it!!!
Thank you for the incredible mixing and having the inspiration to do it. Moving the whistle cameo to the closing was absolute genius. I tip my hat to you !!!
This and Jo Stafford's version are the greatest.
Beautiful. 😀
The great state of Virginia
Brilliant!
Good edit thanks .
I want to hear "I'm going home". But this one while waiting for the finale.
Wish they could have sung this together
WoW
Flute player from the Irish band Chieftains.
Tennessee Ernie Ford's version of this classic song is simply brilliant, whereas Sissel's interpretation - I'm sorry to have to say this - falls well short.
Who else is here cause of fallout 76? Love this music it feels like home to me
Tennessee sings in Ab, Sissel in Eb - an octave and a fifth higher.
I love Shanandoah ,Ohrenschmaus this sissel music.
Alexander Gubar was inspired, and I thank him.
Is that the flute player from The Chieftains?
I believe so.
Bascomblodge
Not a flute, but the pipes.
He does play pipes, but what he is playing there is a Celtic tin whistle
I think it is, if not, he's his doppelganger!

The two best, nay, ultimate living singers are : Sissel and Mirusia L.
Netanel
Oh get over yourself. He put us all together. We are all spiritual beings experiencing a physical existence. I just pray we all end up home together.
I don't read music but is it two different keys or the same key but different octaves?

I didn't know Orson Welles played the fiddle
Kalle ?
Moreus!

The violinist looks like Orson Welles.

I'm sorry but this is a man's love song. It isn't for a woman to sing.
