About to play a rune knight in a new campaign, seems like we can only really take one of the level 4 giant feats. Like sure you can keep taking strike of the giants and then take another giant feat after but that's going to eat up ASI
Honestly taking these feats and being the giant barbarian would make a super cool feeling character. Imagine fighting a giant barbarian and after they hit you they vanish only to get hit by a flying flaming glaive only for it to reappear in the thrower of it
combining those fire giants and cloud giant abilities sounds like the main character from Infamous second son. I have a battle master/ swords bard that will enjoy these. Also, Makenzie's energy is just amazing
@@voodoophil I may be spelling it Wong but many people don't realize that Odin is not just the head god of Norse mythology he's one of the three leaders of sedir, the Norse form of magic. With his being the closest to what wed associate with wizardly types. But it's got a heavy association with runes. Many viking clans would have a sedirman sedirwoman who did magic and read the runes (ironically sedir is traditional more feminine so sedirman were often seen as womanly. The other heads of sedir were Freya who had more healing and fertility sedir, and angrboda, who was the queen of the ironwoods (and who loki was a concubine too) and head of more monstrous and powerful hexes) but In DND a lot of wizards lean to being extremely well kept well schooled individuals, whereas a runecarver had a more taught by one master feel and would be a fun wizard to have in barbarian tribes or clans just from it's theming alone
Do I need to have proficiency in all martial weapons or can my pc just have (e.g., scimitars unlocked) one martial weapon in order to get the strike of giant feat & use it with any melee / thrown weapon attack (I.e, a dart?) ? 3:23 I’m trying to see if a (tcoe wildfire Druid) + fire giants strike & ember of fire giant can even be put on them; For aoe fire control and mini fire smites with a dart.
You say all of this is compatible with 2024 books coming out, yet in the playtest we're seeing for the barbarian the bass class is getting their rage damage added to drink based attacks which includes thrown weapons and that is a feature of the barbarian subclass coming out in this book. So I'm curious if that stays how that's going to play together
I guess it goes with your taste. D&D5e has a lot of previous editions, but mainly 2e and some 4e. D&D 2024 will have, it seems, mainly 3e and some 4e. Cheers!
My only real gripe with this idea is the double feat requirement for martials/non casters. It makes it harder for the characters with less inherent mechanical options to get a few tricks for themselves, especially at lower levels when these are much more relevant.
The difference between free spells you can hand off and a OPT small damage bump… yeah definitely addressed the Caster vs Martial power difference. It definitely doesn’t help that Hill the best option is completely invalidating the best Martial Weapon Mastery. (Topple) 🤦🏼♂️
... for a book with way less pages and much less player options in comparinson to Fizban's book, it seens way overpriced for a very, very situational theme that is going to be banned in most tables :/
I get that Artificers don’t fit in every setting WOTC puts out, but come on! I’ve never even played one but it’s so annoying that it might as well not exist at all.

It feels so nice mentioning in the comments of the last video that we wanted more feat info, and then they actually came back and gave it to us! 😊
Can Makenzie be part of every book? I feel like if she's involved the material will be good. I love her energy/passion.
Seconded, she's got a kind of bubbly vibe that I like
Makenzie is wonderful, I've enjoyed all the interviews with her! I hope we get to see more interviews with her, she has great energy
Makenzie, legit seems to see that martials need these feats (buffs) and alot of them seems to work with martials better... really, great job.
Love Makenzie's energy!
I love when McKenzie is on a video, she's so fun!
Loved this video and I absolutely adore Makenzie's enthusiasm while talking about the contents of the new book! 🥰🥰🥰
5:45 Looking at the feats, Strike of the Giants doesn't say that you can repeatedly take it. If we are allowed to, this will need to see errata.
It has been bugging me, I hope they notice and change that at the same time as the ai art.
The giant runes feat makes me want to flavor an artificer as using runic magic to create their magic items/infusions
Or Runeknight Fighter
Artificer, Forge Cleric, any subclass with some crafting focus.
I've had an idea for a while, to make a runesmith, based on the dwarfs of Warhammer Fantasy. Striking runes with a hammer to create spell effects.
Can't Rune Knights get the Rune Shaper feat?
That feat really didn't need prerequisites
Never even noticed that. Feels like a misstep that will hopefully see an errata. This needs to be brought up to the devs.
This makes me want to play a Rune Knight and take as many of these feats as possible. I wish there were more subclasses with runes
Wizard's "Spellbook" can be a bag full of rocks inscribed with magic & Runes.
I’ve been playing one for close to a year now - just turned 6th level. I’m soooo excited!!!!
Most of them unfortunately failed play testing.

The pun at the end was quite a feat in itself 😆
~_~

I love Makenzie's energy in this video series, she should be a mainstay in the channel!
So, the strikes of the giant is not available to the 2024 monk unless you give them a martial weapon proficiency... please correct that.
The playtest monk really needs to just be totally reworked.
You would also be able to get it via a background
I mean you can easily get around that with the number of races that just happens to give a proficiency on one of those weapons
@user-mu8ok5xf8d how many species now have weapon proficiencies?
@@adamg0013 I mean not a lot but some do, most elfs and dwarfs, but yeah it’s still an issue if monks want all this cool stuff
I'm so glad the stone throw made it into the final book!

She says you can take the feat again, yet the actual boom text does not say its repeatable.
The feats sound like they're the abilities that One DND Goliaths get, wonder if they're still going that direction with Goliaths after this?
Some of these feats seem super powerful!
Wish we’d gotten a few more options for Rune Knight tbh. As it is there are 6 runes and if you go to level 20 you’ll end up having 5 of them
Warlock with rune shaper kinda go crazy
The feats are really cool but I still wish we got the runecarver wizard and primordial druid
@@voodoophil that's fair but the runecarver had a more barbarian tribal wizard feel that a lot of the main ones.
Kinda like a siderman of Norse culture

that chef feats is about to get some major work in with that hill giant feat
she is so fun i love it!

Seems like they're playing with feat trees again. Undecided if that's a good or bad thing.
They've been doing feat trees since Strixhaven and Dragonlance, this isn't new. Only difference is this is a general book rather than a setting book.
I guess it goes with your taste.

I can't wait for this to be compatible with Avrae.
Runecarver Thief sounds like so much fun

I cannot wait to get this book
I did a legit face palm at the last pun. Excellent!
Goodberry available for rune carver feat? That's all I wanted to hear!
When it comes to 5e there’s no such thing as too many feats.
in reality, in comparison to 3e, 4e, pathfinder, pathfinder 2e...
there is too few feats
Realy wish they added the Goliath sub races from the UA. Was looking forward to them
Those are for PHB2024.
now everyone can get goodberry! Yay!

Enjoying your copium? There are things Martials need but it definitely doesn’t need poorly implemented OPT damage…
I think I know which ones I want to use
The Motley Mary Sue Murder Hobo Megamiscarriage of The Godgamers
character's already to go" rune knight"

You should be drunk more often for theese videos. This was really funny ;D
I picked a druid to be a druid why blur the lines and lesson class identity
A Thief?!
It's unfortunate that it sounds like they took away alot of the more powerful 1st level spells.
C'mon man, why would you just make runes into spells? There are enough ways to cast spells, let runes be unique.
sounds like a subclass for artificers, too bad WOTC pretends they dont exist.
I get that Artificers don’t fit in every setting WOTC puts out, but come on! I’ve never even played one but it’s so annoying that it might as well not exist at all.
These are feats and backgrounds, Artificers can take them just fine
Still don't like this trend of adding feat chains
