Deadlock was already good at making on-the-fly holds. The wall buff, and especially the sonic sensor buffs lean into this aspect so well, which helps distinguish her further from other sentinels.
Started maining Deadlock a while back because she's fits my trap and contain playstyle a bit more than Cypher, my previous main. The wall buff is kinda nutty but the ability to pick up trips is singlehandedly my favorite buff they're adding. As Cypher I'd always grab a trip or two while leaving a site to make sure I have a little util outside of cam for retakes which often throws people off guard, causing them to accidentally stumble into them. So being able to freely setup fully with Deadlock on a site without worrying about having zero util for retakes is extremely nice. I also like that they left her key weakness intact of her not having good util for watching flanks. She'll be much stronger at what she does while still having clear flaws to be able to play around her.
This is actually making me feel very happy. I've been maining Deadlock ever since she came out because I don't have a very good aim. I wasn't expecting a buff for her.
I'm actually unsure if the buffs will make her all that powerful for the average player. The wall will for sure be fantastic regardless of skill level, but the rest of her kit does need some level of thought behind it to use. Regardless I'm glad she's getting some love. She's one of my favorite characters, and I might just pick her up again. I've always felt like she's a strange mix of Breach and Cypher, which are both my mains lol.
one mistake ppl do is to treat the traps like its a trip. it should be played more close to you where theres a big chance the enemies make sound (drop, defuse, a zipline) and play of it once it gets triggered its an ez kill. the DL net is more used to combo with mollies. creative lineups for it can be game changing. i can see DL gonna be picked more in proplay now
imagine one choke point and u have two traps that activate at the same time. thats a sure kill there. in some cases its better than a cypher trip coz you dont need contact just sound so you rly have to force the enemy to make sounds

Yes, not all maps but mostly yes. Alarmbot for anti lurk is good but that’s about it. It’s like when I played solo sentinel on Sage, you couldn’t hold flanks with util but she was still an amazing solo sentinel. The same applies here. Got to ask yourself, how often are you dying from lurks and what’s the reason you’ve died. 9/10 times it’s bad awareness and map control. Not util

While yes, sentinels are the main agent type that can usually hold a flank, they're capable of far more than that as seen with Sage, Deadlock, and even Chamber to a degree. Is it nice having a tripwire/alarmbot/trademark on the flank? Yes. But you can also just have a single person watch the flank if you honestly believe someone is going to be flanking. Flanks only work because they catch everyone with their backs turned. Just having one set of eyes behind is more than enough to shut down the usefulness of a flank. That's the big reason why I like that they're focusing on deadlock's strengths and leaving her weaknesses intact. She has a clear weakness both sides have to play around but she's going to be much stronger in her strong areas. They easily could've just said, "Nah. She'll just be a jack of all trades" and made her anti-flank better, but then she'd just be a bog standard sentinel with nothing that really makes her stand out.
In pro play it is mandatory to get map control with the sentinels covering choke points to be more focused on other sides of a map. And if the other team sees that you don't have trips they will inevitably flank every round.@@jasonfoxfire9563

The big problem with deadlocks traps was that they can’t hold flank no? Maybe now you use the wall to hold flank instead but if you need to rotate you could be in trouble
I think if you pick dl, you aren't really trying to hold flank, her utils are just not for that. She feels more like an offensive sentinel, like a hybrid sentinel-initiator. The net is great for taking space, wall to reduce possible entries and ultimate to clear angles. Sensor is also good for holding spike and certain areas of the map.
Please never use deadlock to hold flank. That’s not what the agent is designed to do. That’s like saying just cause Sage is a sentinel you’re supposed to use her wall to wall the flank? Not all sentinels have the same role, Deadlock should be used to create space and anchor sites

Because her utility doesn’t actually pick up slow lurks, it’s better to have an agent that can play off of your traps and hold an angle safely for when the enemies execute. Otherwise, they likely just shoot her traps, and leave her without util she can actually play off of. Also, her wall, and grav net are both really good for retakes, so it’s typically more necessary there than for her to anchor. You’re not wrong about anything else, but I think it’s an important aspect of her kit, knowing that you give up being able to anchor a site yourself, and rather set it up for an ally.

I started playing more deadlock and fade because i liked there kit now it might seem ill drop my duelist main phoenix and play Cypher and Deadlocl moslty

"There is no reason to pick sage over deadlock" Sage wall denies info. Sage has a heal. Sage has a rez. Sage has two slow orbs instead of just one net. There are a lot of reasons to pick sage over deadlock. These buffs are nice, but to say there is "no reason to pick sage over deadlock" is WILDLY overstating your case. There are good reasons to pick deadlock and good reasons to pick sage. There are trade offs with either one.
Its the overall worth of the abilities I'm evaluating. Yes Sage has heal but general Skye is a top tier initiator pick who can also heal and mulitple allies at the same time. Sage wall denies visual info but has half the HP of a Deadlock wall so takes much less bullets and time to regain control of that area. Sage has a rez which is very good obviously since it's her ult but thats what ults are meant to be, good. Sage has two slor orbs which in total decrease movement for 8 seconds where as the gravnet could make the enemy full stopped indefinitely AND can provide info as the enemy literally have to pull it out to move on. I understand what you're trying to say and don't get me wrong theres no one thats loved Sage more than me. As I said I have over 10k hours on her but these buffs absolutely tank over Sages abilities

Saying Sage's rez is her ult and it's supposed to be good has nothing to do with the comparison. With that same logic Deadlock's ult is "supposed to be good" so the almost guaranteed kill doesn't matter. The HP of Sage's wall is in reference to each individual section. If you compare it to each leg of Deadlock's wall then they're on par. If you dodge the net, then you can immediately take space back. With Sage's orbs, you can't take it back as immediately. And there's two of them. AGAIN, both agents have their trade offs. I'm not saying Deadlock is a bad pick. I'm saying there are trade offs with either one and saying that there is "no reason" to pick Sage is a WILD overstatement of your case. I really don't care how much you love or don't love Sage. My problem is with your comparison in saying there is "no reason to pick Sage." That's asinine. There are multiple reasons to choose one over the other.
As a deadlock main, these buffs do not change her gameplay at all. She is still just pretty good at her job, and still completely useless at the stuff people hate her for. Y'all are falling SO HARD for the clickbait. Flow is well aware she is still the worst agent in the game. I'm niot saying she is bad, she is just not versatile without her ult. She is worse at defending a site than Killjoy, but would not really compare her playstyle to KJ, she is mechanically a fusion of Cypher and Sage. however cypher can watch flank on attack, and sage can heal her team and has a better ultimate. Deadlock gets ZERO value from any of her abilities, unless she sticks around to swing off of them, putting herself in danger each time, and has no regenerating abilities at all. A better buff would be to make her wall regenerate every 45 seconds after use, considering its REALLY NOT THAT STRONG AT ALL. it can be broken easily, and is mostly used to get info or stall a push for a few seconds.

My guy, I’ve just finished an 11 hour stream with over 75% winrate on Deadlock after 17 games… I’m top 50 EU currently just playing Deadlock. What are you talking about? Why would you think that, it completely slows movement, stunts aim and can now be repositioned infinite amount of times. It’s already good in Immortal 3 where I play, now it’s gonna be nuts
that's only true if you would use it as a flank watch when compared to 3 other sentinels (kj, cypher, chamber) it's obviously useless. But her sonic sensors are more comparable to Sage's slow orbs i.e. are used more effectively during defense/post-plants where it can punish rushes and wide swings The buff to her sensors just made it more comparable as a "deployable" sage slow rather than a flank watcher
@@FlowAscending It seems more situational than other "trips" on similar agents. Its use is now more offensive and used for close angles or to stop rushes. It's flank detection is not reliable by any means. I am very willing to be wrong. And I hope it succeeds.

So maybe not useless, but limited. Sage has the benefit of the slow orbs being instant and not having to be setup.

She’s not a sentinel to hold flank but should be played more aggressively to get into sites and gain information with her gravnet and then use sonic sensors and wall to stop the retake when the spike is planted. When you’re on CT side you’re simply trying to deny or split the enemies push. Use the util to swing at the right time and get easy kills. If you watch my videos or streams it’s much easier to understand over time
I honestly didn't like playing deadlock, so I ended up not getting her, but this just gets me a bit upset since I am a KJ main who noticed that KJ was getting nerfed (with her turret going from 180 degrees to only 100) because the wall is so strong and can really just take over the game completely, I mean its cool and I support it, but hopefully KJs future gets better 😭

@@FlowAscending the thing is skye can't heal herself AND her teammates. You may not play Sage as a healer but there are a lot of people who play sage for healing. I know there are self healing agents like Reyna and Pheonix but there are also people who would rather not be duelists.

Sage walls don't have lineups that let you block off early rotations on smaller maps, like on ascent you can block of the mid to tree entrance in pistol when you're 5 maning main
Also a lot of the time the fact that the wall is diagonal makes in so enemies can take the space made where the 4 walls converge, get a pick, and fall back where they can’t be traded. It’s a bit like a bad smoke where either team can play around it, but more often then not it’s the enemy

As a deadlock main , i always know her value. I don't care what people say:- she is useless xyz. But few players like us know that she is an Broken player. She got absolute defence and offence. I can't remember how many matches i win using deadlock 🎉🎉

Sage wall denies info. Sage has a heal. Sage has a rez. Sage has two slow orbs instead of just one net. There are a lot of reasons to pick sage over deadlock. These buffs are nice, but to say there is "no reason to pick sage over deadlock" is WILDLY overstating your case. There are good reasons to pick deadlock and good reasons to pick sage. There are trade offs with either one.
Its the overall worth of the abilities I'm evaluating. Yes Sage has heal but general Skye is a top tier initiator pick who can also heal and mulitple allies at the same time. Sage wall denies visual info but has half the HP of a Deadlock wall so takes much less bullets and time to regain control of that area. Sage has a rez which is very good obviously since it's her ult but thats what ults are meant to be, good. Sage has two slor orbs which in total decrease movement for 8 seconds where as the gravnet could make the enemy full stopped indefinitely AND can provide info as the enemy literally have to pull it out to move on. I understand what you're trying to say and don't get me wrong theres no one thats loved Sage more than me. As I said I have over 10k hours on her but these buffs absolutely tank over Sages abilities

I completely disagree. Skye is a completely different agent and has nothing to do with the comparison so that point is null and void. Saying Sage's rez is her ult and it's supposed to be good has nothing to do with the comparison. With that same logic Deadlock's ult is "supposed to be good" so the almost guaranteed kill doesn't matter. The HP of Sage's wall is in reference to each individual section. If you compare it to each leg of Deadlock's wall then they're on par. If you dodge the net, then you can immediately take space back. With Sage's orbs, you can't take it back as immediately. And there's two of them. AGAIN, both agents have their trade offs. I'm not saying Deadlock is a bad pick. I'm saying there are trade offs with either one and saying that there is "no reason" to pick Sage is a WILD overstatement of your case. I really don't care how much you love or don't love Sage. My problem is with your comparison in saying there is "no reason to pick Sage." That's asinine. There are multiple reasons to choose one over the other.

As a deadlock main, these buffs do not change her gameplay at all. She is still just pretty good at her job, and still completely useless at the stuff people hate her for. Y'all are falling SO HARD for the clickbait. Flow is well aware she is still the worst agent in the game. I'm niot saying she is bad, she is just not versatile without her ult. She is worse at defending a site than Killjoy, but would not really compare her playstyle to KJ, she is mechanically a fusion of Cypher and Sage. however cypher can watch flank on attack, and sage can heal her team and has a better ultimate. Deadlock gets ZERO value from any of her abilities, unless she sticks around to swing off of them, putting herself in danger each time, and has no regenerating abilities at all. A better buff would be to make her wall regenerate every 45 seconds after use, considering its REALLY NOT THAT STRONG AT ALL. it can be broken easily, and is mostly used to get info or stall a push for a few seconds.

My guy, I’ve just finished an 11 hour stream with over 75% winrate on Deadlock after 17 games… I’m top 50 EU currently just playing Deadlock. What are you talking about? She’s far superior than every sentIntel other ff than Cypher at this point and the proof is literally in my games today. Just tune in for a stream or two and maybe you could learn how to play her properly. Seems more like a misunderstanding of what the agent is rather than how good or bad the agent is

I feel deadlock is still kinda weak on attack.
I think the sound sensor will be mostly useless in higher elo still, but the upgrades to her wall is very good.
Why would you think that, it completely slows movement, stunts aim and can now be repositioned infinite amount of times. It’s already good in Immortal 3 where I play, now it’s gonna be nuts
that's only true if you would use it as a flank watch when compared to 3 other sentinels (kj, cypher, chamber) it's obviously useless.
But her sonic sensors are more comparable to Sage's slow orbs i.e. are used more effectively during defense/post-plants where it can punish rushes and wide swings
The buff to her sensors just made it more comparable as a "deployable" sage slow rather than a flank watcher
@@FlowAscending It seems more situational than other "trips" on similar agents. Its use is now more offensive and used for close angles or to stop rushes. It's flank detection is not reliable by any means.

That’s not how she was designed, it’s like saying just cause Sage is a sentinel her wall should be used to stop flanks? Her kit is to deny the enemy from retaking once the spike is planted and on CT side is to stop pushes
@@FlowAscending What I am trying to respectfully argue for is, that it is NOT meant to hold flank, and is therefore often worse than most other sentinels abilities with similar funktion that can do both. So maybe not useless, but limited. Sage has the benefit of the slow orbs being instant and not having to be setup.

@@UnrulySpirituality777 Deadlock is essentially supposed to deny pushes and retakes. She’s not a sentinel to hold flank but should be played more aggressively to get into sites and gain information with her gravnet and then use sonic sensors and wall to stop the retake when the spike is planted. When you’re on CT side you’re simply trying to deny or split the enemies push. Use the util to swing at the right time and get easy kills. If you watch my videos or streams it’s much easier to understand over time

I honestly didn't like playing deadlock, so I ended up not getting her, but this just gets me a bit upset since I am a KJ main who noticed that KJ was getting nerfed (with her turret going from 180 degrees to only 100) because the wall is so strong and can really just take over the game completely, I mean its cool and I support it, but hopefully KJs future gets better 😭

Why not play Skye to heal though? More healing output + better utility for entrying and aiding the team. My point was Deadlock has now taken Sages main role which is slowing down pushes and stopping retakes. Sages core gameplay is not healing
@@FlowAscending the thing is skye can't heal herself AND her teammates. You may not play Sage as a healer but there are a lot of people who play sage for healing. I know there are self healing agents like Reyna and Pheonix but there are also people who would rather not be duelists.

I’ve been playing nothing but Sage for almost 4 years now and with all the nerfs she’s had and the recent Deadlock buffs, Deadlock is far more viable in a team comp now

Its stronger and much larger than Sages, in many ways its much better
Sage walls don't have lineups that let you block off early rotations on smaller maps, like on ascent you can block of the mid to tree entrance in pistol when you're 5 maning main
Also a lot of the time the fact that the wall is diagonal makes in so enemies can take the space made where the 4 walls converge, get a pick, and fall back where they can’t be traded. It’s a bit like a bad smoke where either team can play around it, but more often then not it’s the enemy
