    You can make your own mouth wash with the mint. Get a bottle of alcohol add equal parts water and alcohol and wash your mint, drop about 15-20 leaves in. In just a few days you have some very good mouthwash.

    Dont know how great this idea would be, but you could plant things along that fence that your chickens can snack on from the other side. It would provide a little shade for your flock and a bit of a snack everyday.😊🐓🌿

      Planting on one side where the chickens can reach but not kill is a great idea & something we here. But I have pots & just turn them every few days! Keeps the chickens so healthy & busy that I don't mind if we get nothing from them!

    Jess, mint pesto is so delicious. 4 cups Mint, 2-3 cloves garlic, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (optional), juice and zest of a lemon, 1/2 cup olive oil or more, salt and pepper. Really yummy. Whirl it up in food processor and freeze in ice cube trays. It is very good with fettuccine and peas or asparagus. Thanks for the lovely video. ❤️

    Lemon balm in iced tea is the best!

    • @lennapelayo3252
      @lennapelayo3252 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a lemon balm oil like a tea or is it chopped up fresh in the tea that you make

    • @alexreith4877
      @alexreith4877 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lenna pelayo I use fresh lemon balm from my garden and add it to the tea while it's brewing. I don't bother picking the leaves off the stems, I just wash it and add enough to fill a quart size canning jar, then pour over the hot water to steep along with 3-4 tea bags and as much sugar as you like. Once it's steeped I strain it into a pitcher full of ice. I sometimes make it without the tea bags for a caffeine free drink, which is also nice and refreshing. Lemon balm grows back so fast you can have tea all summer long.

  • @mrsmatthewandrus

    Mammoth sunflowers along the whole fence. Beautiful and you can use them to feed the chickens and wild birds in the winter. Bag the heads when they ripen, then dry them. Bonus - it'll make wherever you dry them smell floral and lovely.

    Since that section is along your chicken yard you could grow hops on that fence. You would still have room for luffa or something else. The hops make an excellent extra food for the chickens, good source of protein for them

    the large (like livestock) buckets works well for potatoes and it is easier to sift for potatoes. given all the growth that doesnt get used (eg the vine stems of tomatoes, beans etc) you really should make your own compost - check out geoff lawtons chicken tractors - he is able to feed his chickens without any grain and get better egg production

    I tend to be a rebellious gardener. When I'm told don't plant this next to that... I plant it anyway, and prove it to myself. The last few years I have tried to companion plant as well as possible, but somehow missed the sunflower and bean rule. Last year I had them in rows next to each other (within 4 to 6 feet), and did not have any issues with either. The beans produced very well, but started late, and the sunflowers grew taller than normal, and had beautiful blooms. Hate to hear about the eggs.
