    I believe UN-DU main ingredient is Naptha, basically a paint/ varnish thinner also used to remove glue. It’s a fairly inexpensive solvent that comes in a large tin and available at Home Depot, Tractor Supply any hardware store etc. If you have a lot to remove this would definitely be a cheaper alternative. I use an old credit card to pry paper off.

    I love Undu! ❤️ I use it all the time. I just removed a bunch of pictures out of a book that was literally falling apart and now I just bought a scrapbook full of vintage valentines & I wanted to see the writing on the back of the valentine! 🥰

    I have been using this product for quite some time on my scrapbooking and my card making. Yeah you can get a little carried away with using that it doesn't always come out fast like that and you don't really need a lot. Some of my pieces I put in the freezer for a day or two and see if that'll pop the glue. And if it doesn't then I'll use my undo. But I'm glad you showcasing this so other people know about this product because it's very good product

    This was a great video, Patrick!
    Good to know that there is a product available for removing the die cuts, as well as other items.

    I Love undu! As a scrapbooker, I have been using this product for years since it was launched in 1996. It has a number of uses but primarily it is a way to remove stickers and then still be able to stick them to something else. If you use enough of it, you can remove the adhesive completely by wiping if off with a paper towel. Your paper towel will then be sticky with the adhesive and you can throw it away. I wish more resellers would use this wonderful product. I can't tell you how many times I have seen wonderful vintage items ruined by someone trying to remove a garage sale or goodwill sticker without undu. It is especially suited for paper because it does not contain oil such as goo gone. So, next time you have that beautiful vintage shiny brite box in fantastic condition except for that darn goodwill sticker, please avoid the temptation to pull that off. Wait till you get some undu or better yet, always have it on hand. It is however not fool proof. It does not work on epoxies, super glue or water based adhesives. So it depends on what type of adhesive your victorian scrapbooker was using and how liberally it was applied. Typically they used rubber cement or a water based paste. I suspect that your scrapper used a rubber cement which is solvent based and undu works pretty well on that. When they used paste it doesn't work as well. You can sometimes loosen it and then carefully peel it back and let it pull off the scrapbook paper with it. If they just dabbed the paste in the corners or the center it can be successful, but not always. You can then sand off the scrapbook paper and remove it that way. Another thing I have done that sometimes works is if the rag type scrapbook paper is thick enough, you can wet it with the undu to get things started and then peel the layers apart, essentially making two pages. Then, you don't have to choose which side you are going to keep, you could have both. It also removes candle wax and can clean your glossy printed photographs of fingerprints and dirt. As a maker and collector I can't live without it. Just remember that it is volatile and will evaporate quickly so to save on costs, don't leave your bottle uncapped!

    I’ve always wanted to try this product for removing price tags/labels that are stuck on paper items that I find. Also, that’s such a good idea to use this if I ever find a scrapbook with great ephemera. Thank you for sharing Patrick. 😊👍🏼

    I wonder if the ingredients in UN-Du are non-archival, which might cause damage to the paper items over a period of time - nearly every album I have seen has items attached with an animal glue, so the items easily remove once the page is soaked in water. The items can then be dried between blotting paper over the front of the image and a non-stick sheet at the back of the image. The glue can re-attach if blotting paper is used at the back.

    I realize that this video is a year old, but what did you do with the album and pages? I would totally buy that even though it is in rough shape. The paper alone is worth it.

    Thanks for doing this. I’ve heard of Undo before and wondered if it actually worked.

    Hi - I need to remove some newspaper cuttings that are glued into an old address book - But... I want see the old addresses (written in fountain pen ink) that the cuttings have been glued over. Will UN-DU make the ink fade/bleed/dissolve, ruining the information I want to see?

    • @TrustyHucksterMercantile

      To be honest I don’t know. I’ve never specifically pulled off post cards or anything that might have writing. I’m thinking some of the trade cards I’ve removed might have had writing and I’ve never noticed any running ink. But I’d hate to say it’s ok and you ruin your piece. I’d find a scrap with fountain ink and just dab the fluid onto the card. Doesn’t have to be stuck to anything. Just to see. Good luck. And thanks for watching

    Does this not leave any residue or staining on the ephemera? Also - do you have any tips for getting that thick black paper off the back of old photographs? A lot of its thin and frayed - no clear cut edge to peal up from. Thanks! :)

    • @TrustyHucksterMercantile
      @TrustyHucksterMercantile  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From my limited experience, no, there is no staining. It dries completely clean. The residue is from the glue. That will still be there but someone recommended if you use even more product you can wipe the glue off along with the solvent, but I haven’t tried that. If you use this, you won’t get the black scrapbook remnants on the back of photos. But if you have photos already torn out, this would still work to separate the photo from the paper. Note - someone with more experience noted that it doesn’t work on all glue types so keep that in mind. Thanks for watching

    Is this the same as Goo Gone? Also what can be done when my pictures are stuck together, the pages of an old scrapbook stuck, when I tried to pull it apart the pictures began to tear any idea how to separate?

    • @TrustyHucksterMercantile
      @TrustyHucksterMercantile  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chemically I’m not sure but I know they are different because I have both. Goo Gone has more if a chemical smell. And give bitbhad much luck with goo gone on paper vs paper. It’s great to get off metal or glass. I think undo is more alcohol based so it evaporates. I struggled if the paper is too thin. Worked great for trade cards but less for magazine pictures glued in. But if you’re just separating the pages it might work. Use a lot. And don’t force it. But if there’s stray glue once the undo dries the pages will stick together again unless you fully scrape it away
