    If you genuinly think Napoleon would hurt or kill a lady over a chess game you have a poor grasp on history

      He wouldn't kill her, he would harass her with endless letters, complain to all his friends about her, and then would write an over exaggerated novel about the situation

      Napoleon was really worried about his self image. It could be a bit negative to his own perception losing a game with a naked WOMAN (wich at that time were considered more stupid than men)

    After looking at Napoleon’s chess records, it actually reveals he lost to Madame De Remusat in 1802 and won in this rematch two years after in 1804.

    One of the best things about chess is it's popularity and age.
    It's not only that it has been for lots of years already, but a lot of personalities have played it in history.

    This is great content! I'm surprised you haven't come up in my feed before since I've been diving down the chess rabbit hole a while. If you generally have other videos in this vein or similar, then I'm definitely about to sub once I click through in a second :) Good work, fun game, good tips, thanks for the video!
    Edit: The amount of videos related to Andouche Taint is really off-putting, definitely not supporting any channel that caters to his cultists. Really hope you're just trying to ride the trend and aren't actually one of his pet losers. I'm not giving those the clicks to find out if you speak of him in a positive way because I don't want youtube to recommend me anything about that pathetic excuse for a man, but I'm holding out hope that your future videos will continue departing from that topic

      idk how u can be that weak-minded to the point where you let someone who doesnt know u exist affect u this much

    • @ItsAsparageese
      @ItsAsparageese ปีที่แล้ว

      @@floaty2K That's not a bad criticism apart from the presumption that it's weak-mindedness, that bit is very "reee I can't comprehend anyone working differently than I do" but the overall idea isn't the worst premise. I don't take active stands against everyone whose ideologies I hate, but I find that some merit the effort more than others, in his case primarily just because he's just spammed so much in content already that it'd be annoying even if I _didn't_ take issue with his negative impacts on the world, and youtube is way too quick to throw it at anyone who clicks on anything remotely related. I'm really sick of his cult-victims puking his narcissistic propaganda all over the chess scene; I'd defend to my literal death anyone else's right to consume his content, don't get me wrong, I think some of his critics are out of line too sometimes, but I still think his views are garbage and most of what he does is garbage and I don't want to see it myself.
      I'm entirely fine with my priorities and how little time overall I spend thinking about that loser; I'm just also carefully preserving that comfortable level of mostly not having to care about him. Thanks for your concern, I hope you're not letting poison about/from him take up rent-free space in your head any more than you need to either

    • @floaty2K
      @floaty2K ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @The plural is actually "asparageese". in your original comment you talked about not supporting any channel that caters to his cultists and you are obviously irritated by him and his fan base, imo he's an entertainer and not someone who should be taken seriously so that's why I'm confused by your passion/hatred for him. I personally find him hilarious even though I disagree with a lot of his opinions.

    • @ItsAsparageese
      @ItsAsparageese ปีที่แล้ว

      @@floaty2K That's fair. Well in that case we fundamentally agree; the problem is that he IS taken seriously by so many people.
      So I haven't had a lot of personal experience with assault and abuse by misogynistic men, right -- a little like practically any other chick on the planet unfortunately, but not much -- but I was super critical of (parts of) modern feminism for a long time (still am a bit, there are extremists there that cause problems in a very parallel way to the topic here, I just stay out of the feminism arguments now for my sanity lol) ... so I had to walk some very fine social lines for about a decade or so. There are lots of tribalist psychos on both sides of anything, especially these days. It was, and still often is, hard for me to ever take a position on anything that didn't lead to people either assuming I must hate everything they hate or be everything they hate.
      Anyway, point is, I was someone who a lot of guys felt comfortable talking to about their frustrations with society and bad experiences with women and the pressure on them. (Which is definitely real underrated sht btw and killing people and causing shootings etc obv.) Therefore, I've had an unusual amount of deep conversations with a pretty diverse sample of people who are _exactly_ his ideal target cult victim. (That's not hyperbole btw that is unambiguously what many of his followers are.) The kind of stuff he spews is legitimately damaging on a huge scale, first to these mostly-young mostly-men and then to everyone around them. It hurts society in ways I see effects of all the time. These are the profile of guys who end up stalking/assaulting/killing. I can't count how many guys I know who've related a little too much to starting down that slippery slope. And he feeds exactly that terrible destructive engine of inward and outward hatred. He effing _monetizes_ it.
      It's not my main pet issue of course ... I'm a public health/epidemiology geek and heavily involved in issues affecting the unhoused and addict and offender communities, mainly. But obviously those interests tie in a lot with misandry/misogyny/societal double standards and general tribalistic groupthink issues in at least some forms. And also, I mean, like, I'm a person and I know other people and I like most of them and I just want everyone to coexist peacefully and be mentally and socially healthy, y'know? Doesn't everyone?
      So yeah, that dude (who I continue not to name mainly so as not to catch an algorithm's attention) contributes to very real harms that I do sincerely care about. And it perpetuates a cycle of people like him which is just tragic, he's part of a long standing global history of male multi-generational trauma. (I have a casual dumb little personal hypothesis about his issues and insane ideas about women mostly stemming from him being absolutely terrified of harm coming to those close to him/fear of being an inadequate protector, which I really can't substantiate apart from one thing he said once and it's probably half me projecting my own guilt-motivatedness, but I maintain the conjecture in my head to help humanize him lol.) So anyway, according to my values, that means I have to give some damns, both about the issue at large and also about maintaining my sanity by sequestering where and how it gets into my thoughts. 🤷
      I hope that's an interesting or otherwise useful answer to your curiosity lol
