"We just got an unfortunate and tragic update from authorities. We have now heard they have now recovered at least forty bodies." I get what he's trying to convey, but what a grossly inarticulate way to say it. He knows full well there aren't any survivors, so it is a recovery effort. The crews are there to find the victims so it is absolutely NOT unfortunate or tragic.

It was the helo pilot. He was told about the plane, and the helo pilot said he sees the plane, and will avoid it. But didn't.

We should change the name of that airport back to Washington National. Naming an aviation facility of any kind after the man who fired the controllers is a travesty. There were very real issues. He should have listened and addressed those issues rather than firing the controllers. He let his bias against unions left over from his acting days cloud his judgement.

Kaloyev held Peter Nielsen (16 August 1967 - 24 February 2004), the sole air traffic controller in Switzerland who was handling traffic the night of the collision, responsible. In 2004, Kaloyev travelled to the Swiss town of Kloten, where he killed Nielsen, who had since retired from his air traffic control job at Skyguide.
Also, Robin Wascher was never charged with homicide in 1991 mishap SHE caused at LAX. Wascher was responsible for 34 deaths.

AI from searching “PATCO strike”: The PATCO strike was a labor strike by air traffic controllers in 1981. The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) went on strike on August 3, 1981, demanding better pay, benefits, and working conditions.
    What happened?
President Ronald Reagan declared the strike illegal and threatened to fire any workers who didn't return to work within 48 hours
Reagan fired over 11,000 air traffic controllers who didn't return to work
Reagan also prosecuted the leaders of the strike and decertified the PATCO union
What were the strikers' demands? A $600 million raise over three years, A 32-hour workweek, Excluded from civil service clauses, and Improved benefits package for retirement.

This is just a spectacular airline accident, no question about it. The fact that over half of the bodies are still missing assumedly in the Potomac is indeed something. Trump to his credit was on the scene promptly, with what started out a great speech but descended into a lot of inappropriate partisan finger pointing. Airline safety at least is something that seems to come home to Trump, and I think he really does want the best airline controllers even if for his own safety. He's also clever enough to know DEI quota hiring over merit is unpopular, but not sure if that was involved here.

Well, we know it had NOTHING TO DO with DEI or Democrats. If you want, blame bureaucrats - that airport was designed decades ago to handle not more than 15 million passengers per year, and yet over the years, the federal government (who owns it, btw) has approved the addition of more and more gates and facillities to handle more traffic, such that in 2023 there were 25 million plus passengers. Talk about over-capacity - but it is the bureaucrats over the past 10-15 years responsible for not taking steps to limit the air traffic congestion. And then there is the U.S. military, which requires flight paths to serve Washington DC that conflict with commercial flight paths. SO, now, given that you know this is a problem that has been building over the past decade, how can you possibly be SO STUPID as to try to blame this on "DEI and Democrats"????? Fools, idiots.

    YOU NEVER SAID GOODBYE **
    You never said I’m leaving
    You never said goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it
And by plane crash I know why.
In life I loved you completely
In death I love you still.
I hold a place in my heart
    That only you can fill.
It broke my heart to lose you
But I know you’re not alone.
A part of me left with you
On the day death called you home.
Tears are a love-mates humble gift
When it's time to say goodbye
Though the eyes are wet and swollen
With time and patience they dry.

Helicopter NO Airline INFO Only Visual & Tower & Passed first Runway {tower only one listening to both Airplane & Helicopter}. ..
    TOWER DEI F*UPPED / Helicopter Visual {LOOK AT Radar}: thought they were going BOTH side by side {not the plane was crossing LEFT in-front of path to Runway}
LOOK at RADAR and the TOWER DIDN'T INFORM plane is crossing path.... Only told Fly visual turn after passing side by side...Passing.
