This is for my mom. She was 86 years old. She was taken by the Lord and was brought to Heaven last Feb 25, 2019 to receive eternal grace and salvation. I truly miss you mom. I miss hugging you, I miss giving you a kiss, I miss feeling your heartbeat, I miss cradling you in my arms, I miss taking care of you. Someday I'll bring you a bouquet of fresh white flowers everyday, someday when we're together in Heaven.
86 years was great number. You are lucky as so many die in their 40s,50s, 60s. The longer one stays the greater the love, the greater the sense of loss. Time does heal.
Mucho ánimo, esperanza en el encuentro en el Cielo. Eternamente con el Señor y nuestros seres queridos, ese es el destino pensado para nosotros. A Mi madre también le gustaba Mancini
Me too. Was born 1945 79 yrs old now. Heard this a few time. Now i learned every note Correctly. Play piano. What a beautiful song!! Same as days of wine and roses.
77 yrs old here, having been born in 1946 . . . . We now listen to this music from a totally different perspective, don't we . . . . . . Yet it still affects us the same way . . . . . . . Still breaks my heart and soothes in the same moment. What would we really do without all the beautiful music that has been given to us???❤
A beautiful soundtrack. I met Mancini and Albert Finney on two separate occasions in London in the 1980s and 1990s. Both were nice, great company and charming. Spent over 3 hours with Finney smoking cigars, drinking fine wine and talking about our shared love of films and theatre and our mutual acquaintances (I trained as an actor in 60s London during which time which I also worked for the National Theatre at the Old Vic, and on several West End original productions, including The Sound of Music and Cabaret). So lucky to have spent a little time with my great heroes, especially Finney for I was a huge fan.❤
@@douglastjon85 Impossible not to feel a ton of different emotions when listening to this song... regardless of if you are watching the film or not. So extremely well done.
This is a favorite them of mine. Such a poignant movie. Another example of Mancini’s uncanny ability and talent to capture the emotional essence of the movie with one song.
What's so amazing about this soundtrack is that Mancini is even able to delve into an ultra-modern sound (from 13:14 to 13:48), which is the moment when the couple's relationship has hit the skids and it looks like they're going to break up. And that entire atonal sequence seems totally appropriate against all the gorgeous melodies and harmonies that abound in the rest of the movie. He truly knew how to make an image out of sound. Genius!
I saw this film when I was about 13 years old and the only thing I remembered was the music, but now I have seen it at 50 years old and it is wonderful, I hope I never miss that romance...
I chose this song/ music for my wedding song 46 years ago and little did I know at the time, that it would be prophetic. My beloved husband and I were blessed to enjoy the most marvelous experiences together in our very many two for the road journeys together. They were our pinnacle moments in our marriage( outside of the births of our 3 precious children and our many grandchildren). We relished each other the most on our many trips by car, on a Vespa ,or in our Alfa spider convertible. A month ago I lost him to a Vespa accident and feel a void that is inexplicable. My yearning for him throbs in every pore and vessel within. The theme and words of TWO FOR THE ROAD trigger me into a meltdown at the memories and hard cold awareness that my precious soulmate has 'gone on'. It is one of the most beautiful melodies ever! And it did indeed purport for a blessed life together.
I always think of my late lovely wife when I hear this. We first saw the film in ‘68 I think, and when we started travelling that became our theme tune along with The Thornbirds theme later on.😍👌😎
In Two For The Road, composer Henry Mancini came up with one of his most heartfelt and beautiful main themes, which perfectly captures everything about the marital journey in the film: From its joys to its sorrows, to its recriminations, betrayals, and rebounds. The picture also marks the fourth and last collaboration of Mancini and actress Audrey Hepburn, but what a pretty "end of the road" that movie is! Enjoy!
I just woke up to this movie, never seen it before but the music enchanted me,, then I see it's Henry Mancini and I'm like, of course. Absolutely beautiful score 👌.
Such beautiful music that touched the heart and soul. The true story of the bitter sweet journey of love. Those you love, love unconditionally as long as you have them.
Both the song and the movie bring out every emotional thought and feeling I could ever have. Albert Finley and Audrey Hepburn outdid themselves and their love and marriage are both heartbreaking and inspirational! I miss them both.
...and if it weren't for the movie, perhaps Mancini wouldn't have had a reason to compose this beautiful piece. The love theme for Two For The Road really surprised me when I first heard it. How fortunate we are to have this lovely, lovely tune to come back to time and time again!
Without a doubt, my favorite movie and music of all time...thanks Soundtrack Fred for posting this. Audrey Hepburn played Joanna to perfection....this movie solidified my love for both Audrey and the country of France...both beautiful.
Mancini himself reckoned that this was his best theme. Uniquely the composition matches the events on the screen almost perfectly with the introduction of a flat note at chilling moments
This is the most beautiful soundtrack from the beautiful movie set entirely in France one of my favourite movies of all time" Two for the Road" when you put a BRILLIANT OUTSTANDING Composer Mr Henry Mancini, two AMAZINGLY TALENTED Hollywood stars Miss Audrey Hepburn and Mr Albert Finney, put all three together you already have a fabulous soundtrack and Movie. May we remember all three as their legacy will continue with this beautiful gorgeous Soundtrack and movie which will remain a wonderful classic. may all three Legends R.I.P. FOREVER remembered. Thankyou so much Audrey for allowing me to know you. Kim Phuong ( Actor).
Probably Henry Mancini's most beautiful theme for a motion picture. It even surpasses Breakfast at Tiffany's. Every time I hear it I think of Audrey Hepburn.
I agree that it is a sublime theme, but I still prefer Moon River from Breakfast. And the Charade and Pink Panther themes are equally memorable. Great composer, good old Henry!
Apparently Hepburn sent Mancini handwritten note requesting he participate in her new film with Stanley Donen, they had already worked on Charade together. Mancini consented & I belive later stated it became his favorite score.
I hear Stephane Grapelli in the "Main Theme." And how bittersweet it is! I've never seen this picture, but it stands high on my list of must-sees, so full of magical creatures it is. All gone now.
Saw it when it came out in theaters ( spring 1968 ) together with my parents , wonderful movie , cast , story and music …… it all for many years last in my memory ... untill during a stay in Monte Carlo at a dvd shop I found it ! It,s still remarkable and recognizable ...it,s fun , dramatic and an END that couples who live together for quiet some time feels the same way even …nowadays ! A MUST TO SEE !
Mancini= soundtrack for my young life in the 60's/70's...Also Two for the Road reminded me unfortunately of my parents bad marriage - can never get through that movie dry eyed because of the music and memories but it is so beautiful and tragic
Highly sophisticated performance of this well-composed masterpiece with perfect sound of beautiful melodies. The awesome composer/conductor leads the functional orchestra in comfortable tempi with agreeable dynamics. Simply beautiful!
RIP Albert Finney (1936 - February 7, 2019) & Stanley Donen (1924 - February 21, 2019) Death came only two weeks apart more than 50 years after "Two for the Road"...
Henry Mancini was truly one of the greatest and recognizable composers in Hollywood.. what other composer do you know gets to pose with the leading lady of his film? Lol
Henry Mancini ( _man shee nee_ ) is for me the greatest composer of my soul. This main theme is wich makes me cry like a child, cause it touches the deeper fiber of soul. I dedicated this song to my love, who is not togheter with me now. I never forget the moment when he asked me _May I love for ever?_ Yes, of corse I said between teardrops. And I will love you forever, too. I promise you! And I now style here loving him as I said him ... forever.
Wonderful. My wife hums that sometimes though she does not really know the movie. We met when I discovered it. Henri Mancini plus Audrey Hepburn (Moon River - she hums that more often) - a combination for eternity.
One of my favorite soundtrack, just beautiful. Mancini, can go no better. The movie was great as well! I must get the Kritzerland version being the actual soundtrack _(as Mancini re-recorded all his soundtracks for record)._
People don't realize how music supports a movie giving it emotional meaning. I live not far from where Mancini was born, steel and blue collar. Funny how such romance came from the valley of steel, it was a work ethic that let a genius blossom through the surroundings reflecting what those people felt inside.
Indeed, he said he composed from the screen. This music is so interwoven with the movie it blows me away. It also points to a fantastic collaboration between Hepburn and Mancini
This Music just makes me think about Audrey and Albie. What's about two humans meet up at just the right moments of their lives and this sharpest of movie music magicians sets up the background music for those moments . And MERCI Stanley. For your beautiful film. Like "Staircase", another unusually sensitive film with super-duper actors in your able hands.
Thanks for sharing the genius of this outstanding film composer! For admirers of Henry Mancini, I uploaded the excellent complete interview from the 1985 Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz radio show.
Im not young anymore, but most who loves this, would think I am. There is parts which I find boring, but the excellence of, I put Henry Mancini first, his tune define everything, Audrey Hepburn, need 'ed Albert Finney. Stanley Donen through and through!
My forever favorite!
They don't make music like this anymore.
This is for my mom. She was 86 years old. She was taken by the Lord and was brought to Heaven last Feb 25, 2019 to receive eternal grace and salvation. I truly miss you mom. Lost my mum a year ago. They are and will always be national treasures to us all! ....fantastic smile and a great heart! Luv ya mum!

Congratulations. In such company, a talented professional deservingly privileged, I'm sure.
Perhaps the most beautiful title song ever written for a film.
I have read that Henry Mancini considered Two For The Road is own personal favorite song he wrote out of hundreds. It's my favorite, too.
@@douglastjon85 Impossible not to feel a ton of different emotions when listening to this song... regardless of if you are watching the film or not. So extremely well done.

merci pour la pub " money " en pleine musique !
Dios! cómo hacer para que regrese esa hermosa época. 😭
My favorite movie and my favorite soundtrack. Missing both Albert Finley and Audrey Hepburn and of course, Henry Mancini
This is a favorite them of mine. Such a poignant movie. Another example of Mancini’s uncanny ability and talent to capture the emotional essence of the movie with one song.
a fun and very adult romantic movie about relationships. Great movie and great Mancini music.
Henry wrote this as alove song to his wife this was their love song rip 🙏 Mr mancini

Beautiful music and film❤
Mancini at his best. ❤️
Such beautiful music that touched the heart and soul. The true story of the bitter sweet journey of love. Those you love, love unconditionally as long as you have them.
😍Love the first photograph of Hank and Audrey❤❤❤
Marvelous Mancini song and soundtrack that bolstered a fascinating Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney romantic movie.
One of my favorite movies.
A touch of that Mancini Magic. One of his prettiest melodies.
Both the song and the movie bring out every emotional thought and feeling I could ever have. Albert Finley and Audrey Hepburn outdid themselves and their love and marriage are both heartbreaking and inspirational! I miss them both.
Thank you Mr Mancini for your music! R.i.p.
one of the most beautiful melody ever.
I love all of Mr. Mancini's movie themes. They're so beautiful and for some reason they take me back to beautiful places and times and l want to cry.

Ich auch nicht!!
Absolutely beautiful haunting music by fellow Clevelander Mancini……the movie …..magical
Wonderful. My wife hums that sometimes though she does not really know the movie. We met when I discovered it. Henri Mancini plus Audrey Hepburn (Moon River - she hums that more often) - a combination for eternity.
INSUPERABLE SUITE. HERMOSO TEMA PRINCIPAL. BRAVO MANCINI. MUY BUENA

Saw this movie aged 15 and loved it but was just a kid, hadn't lived through a heart wrenching relationship yet. Would love to see it again!
The movie feels different when you get older. When I first saw it I was younger than the characters and older when I saw it again.
This morning sic brings tears to my eyes every time. Is that the music, the movie? A combination of both?
La primera vez que escuche la primera melodía de este video enserio casi se me caen las lágrimas

Funny how such romance came from the valley of steel, it was a work ethic that let a genius blossom through the surroundings reflecting what those people felt inside.
Oh, I realize. But I don't know if they invest as much in music nowadays in movies.
Indeed, he said he composed from the screen. This music is so interwoven with the movie it blows me away. It also points to a fantastic collaboration between Hepburn and Mancini
One of the most powerful and moving film scores.... The other one, The sunflowers with Mastroianni and Loren.
Great movie. Is it available online anywhere? I'd love to see it again.
Romantic movie.
Thank you Mr Mancini truly great!

Beautiful soundtrack to a superb movie, with fantastic performances from Hepburn and Finney, who had an affair during filiming.
