  • With 26 restaurants, 7 coveted Michelin Stars, and award-winning television programs, Gordon Ramsay has proven himself to be one of the world's greatest chefs. And now that you've earned back five minutes, take that time to learn what inspires him in the kitchen and in life.
    Specialized Tuna Nicoise Salad:
    Serves 4
    2 pounds Ahi Tuna loin
    ¼- ½ cup Sesame seeds
½ pound Fingerling potatoes cut in half lengthwise
¼ pound Green beans trimmed sliced in half
1/3 cup Pitted nicoise or other black brined olives, sliced
½ cup Shallot, sliced into thin rings
½ pound Cherry tomatoes cut in half
    12 Anchovy filets (optional)
    ¼ cup Balsamic vinegar
3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
    8 each Eggs
4 each Romaine hearts or baby gem lettuce
    Chopped parsley
    Lemon Dijon Vinaigrette:
    ½ teaspoon kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
    2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
    ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
    ½ cup olive oil
    Method:
    1. Bring 3 medium pots of salted water to a boil. Add the potatoes to 1 pot and blanch until tender, about 6 to 10 minutes. Drain in a colander, pat dry, and set aside. Add the green beans to the other pot and blanch until tender, 4 to 5 minutes. Drain in a colander, pat dry, and set aside.
    2. In the third pot add eggs and boil for 6 minutes. Remove and quickly plunge under cold running water or an ice bath to stop the cooking. The eggs should still have a runny yolk.
    3. For the dressing, add all ingredients in the bowl except the oil. Using a whisk stir in the oil to emulsify. Season as needed to taste and set aside
    4. Portion the tuna loin into 4 equal portions. Season the tuna steaks with salt, ground pepper, sesame seeds and olive oil on all sides. Heat a large skillet (or 2 medium skillets), over high heat. When the oil is hot but not smoking, add tuna portions and sear all sides about 30 seconds per side for medium-rare. The tuna should still be bright red in the center.
    5. In a large mixing bowl, add potatoes, green beans, olives, shallots, cherry tomatoes, anchovies and parsley. Coat this with balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper to taste.
    6. Tear or chop the lettuce into bite-size pieces and combine with other ingredients in bowl. Toss with enough of the vinaigrette, just to coat. Adjust seasonings with salt and pepper as needed.
    7. Arrange the lettuce in the center of 4 large plates (or 1 serving platter). Spoon the remaining vegetables around the lettuce to frame.
    8. Slice the tuna into three long slices per serving and arrange on top of lettuce. Slice each egg in half lengthwise and place on the vegetables.
    9. Drizzle the plate with additional dressing to finish and serve immediately

gordon is actually a really kind passionate guy. But yelling sells reality TV. He's actually very kind and understanding with the kids on his master chef for kids series, it's great.

I first seen Gordon on tv at the age of 12. His passion brushed off on me. The utter dedication and sacrifice he made for food changed my life. I now run my own Rosette kitchen in the Scottish highlands. All my food comes from within 30miles of my doorstep. I've never ordered anything frozen or processed. I make my own cheese, grow my own veg and I've killed and butcher many animals to use in my kitchen. I have hens and fresh eggs. My milk and cream come from a farmer that lives literally 10psteps from the restaurant. My passion is strong, I'm now 28 and have saved money and will be travelling for 3 years to France and New Zealand to further my skills. All of this was made possible, my entire career, my success and my drive, all came from 1 man, Gordon. Thank you.

There was an episode where a guy almost died eating a lobster at a restaurant in Kitchen Nightmare. After Gordon checked it, the lobster was rotten & reeked of amonia. Gordon was furious at the restaurant's owner & the chef.

Cooking helped me in a small sense battle my depressive suicidal thoughts.
It was a way to escape. I use to abuse drugs in order to escape reality but once I stopped I turned to my long loved passion of cooking. It's a way for me to forget about my problems and the negative thoughts in my head. When I'm cooking I'm focused on what I'm doing, the ingredients, the timing and everything else. It's truly therapeutic and stress reliving. Hearing the sound of knives and crunchy vegetables being chopped and the sizzling of the oils and the aromas. I love cooking very much and although I'm not at a Gordon Ramsay level I can understand when he speaks about food :)

He's right that cooking is a life skill that everyone should have. So many people joke about not being able to cook and they just get takeaway all the time, but it's not a joke. Get off your ass and learn how to do a necessary life skill if you want to be healthy and live a good life. And lazy people just throw together anything they have to, but they don't realise that putting a bit of effort into it means they can get DELICIOUS meals that are also very healthy. I just can't respect anyone who doesn't respect that cooking is an important life skill.

I can only make eggs and pancakes, I can't cook anything else xD I want to cook because of Gordon, I've watched his tv shows for most of my life and he is a big inspiration to me. I'm going to learn how to cook more complicated dishes because of Gordon; I was planning on buying food from restaurants and fast food places when I get into college, but that is going to be way more expensive than just making food myself. Problem is humans have become very lazy over time and we need to fix that. Gordon got me interested in cooking my own meals and that's what I'm going to do. It's good to have an interest in cooking, but that interest is useless if you never cook for yourself and taste your own food and see how you can improve it next time. Food is an art that you can taste; just cook, taste, and improve, and it's a cycle of culinary improvement.

Started cooking by watching his videos, going through many recipes with the lack of a lot of ingredients not available in Asia (hard to find those rare thingy), replacing it with similarities or absolute different stuff. And made the same dishes over and over 10 or 20 times in months, now I have great recipes for my own originated by Gordon. He's an inspiration. I learned self-cooking from him, now I gotta learn how to eat healthy too (scientifically) lol

For every 1 person like him that makes a huge success of themselves, has a huge back story and with a big loving family, there are 10,000 others just like him that never had the real chance to succeed due to unexpected life factors like being born in the wrong place at the wrong time and with the wrong parents/opportunities/social environment etc. All I am saying is this, stop looking at these media hyped/well sponsored individuals like they are 1 in a million and are gods! People with talent exist all over the world and they are not always visible to the public eye.

Gordon does a great job, an amazing chef.. True he might get angry at some people because they don't pay attention to the food they are cooking, and it upsets Gordon when people do that because he has such a passion for food. Long Life Gordon.

  • @derekxiaoEvanescentBliss

tbh idk about 97% considering how he felt so out of his depth in the asian countries. There is actually a ridiculous amount of exotic ingredients that are used in chinese cooking that I think he might not have heard of, much less can use with complete comfort.
but all in all, I'm incredibly inspired by this video of him. This level of passion and mastery really gets me fired up haha

    • @Bradgilliswhammyman
      @Bradgilliswhammyman 7 ปีที่แล้ว

I was thinking this too. Gordon's Getaway series...he struggles with dishes from India, thailand, cambodia etc. Also he can't hand roll chinese noodles and he is nowhere near a master level sushi chef.

    • @kyle7412

Ken Havens cooking is all specialized. Gordon is a master at western cooking no doubt, but there is an infinite amount of cooking knowledge out there, and nobody could possibly learn it all in a single lifetime.

I felt some food wars vibe when he talked about thinking recipes, travel and learning, his dream to discovering every ingredients like the whole video of him cooking and commenting his cooking while he talk about himself and whoa that's how he is fluent in French within 18 months incredible french is a very diffucult language to learn there are so many rules and exceptions, I'm french and this language is very hard to learn even for natives french
