    I'd rather listen to the guys you mentioned as opposed to Coltrane and Davis. In my eyes, Coltrane and Davis stopped playing jazz. Nice video.
    Ray Bryant was well known for "The Madison time." I paid so much for that "Slow Freight" album on cd. I went through a few vendors who mysteriously didn't have it.

    Talk about Benny Carter , what a magnificent man. Never made a bad record.
    I am going to look forward to the Zoot show because the best records of his life are on Pablo and he has Ray Bryant one one of his most significant records," Zoot plays Soprano"
    In 1985 i walked from the Knickerbocker Saloon with Roland Hanna and Frank Wess around to Bradley's to hear Ray Bryant , memorable indeed.
    All the best Jack .

      SO TRUE !!- BI think his last record recorded was for Pablo! What a talent...... (writer and good base player) tells a Zoot story... Zoot walking down a NYC Street few days before Xmas.. A Zoot fan recognizes him and say... "Hay Zoot..Merry Christmas"..Zoot answers "I'm hip"

      The recording I have is not a concert . Read Ray Bryant Discography. The recording I mentioned " Ballad and Blues " . I was a distributor for the label and had a long correspondence with him and many other great players.

    Dear Jack , Please excuse of me dealing with an interloper to our polite correspondence , I share your great enthusiasm and wait patiently for your subject matter on the marvelous John Haley (Zoot Sims ) I remember receiving the news on his passing sent to me by Ralph Sutton .

      @Jackgrahamphotograph ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't know Ralph but he was a "tasty" player ...know what to play and when you play it! Zoot was a character. I used to see him a lot(and I mean a LOT) in Jim and Andy's, Zoot could put away a lot of booze! THE bar on 48th ST.... it was a who who of musicians. Didn't matter if you were a heavyweight like Zoot, or just another working player like me.. everyone got along and hung out.--JG

      I would love to have heard Zoot live, he died too young
      I had a lot to do with Ralph Sutton.
      There is a book about him called Loose Shoes and I am in it.
