  • I install Garmin Livescope on my 06 Skeeter ZX200. I use a 30 ah Lithium battery to power the Livescope so that it is free of other possible interferences and I don't have to worry about it draining my cranking battery down throughout the day.

    Great video. I did the same on my boat. I too was worried about being wired to my AGM
    and taking a chance on dead batteries
    Only difference I did was:
    Installed separate power leads. I put in box 2 ports/leads and each have their own connection.
    Will unplug when charging
    I would like to know if the box is large enough to keep the charger inside with 30Ah and wired to battery and piggy backed connectors
    And just have the charger cord outside the box ready to plug in to ac.
    I installed my box jn back of boat in a compartment with my Minnkota Chargers.
    Maybe will add a lighted voltage indicator to box as might be nice to see voltage at green light and full charge and be able to read voltage end of day for curiosity
    My 1st ever lithium.
    Thanks for sharing your install.. We all learn on YT from your folk’s dedication. Appreciate it

      I store my charger in the power box sometimes. The box is big enough for 2 of those 30 ah wide batteries so you might be able to do what you have in mind. I also use the power box for other things occasionally. A year later and I am very pleased with the performance. It does exactly what I intended. Thanks for watching.

      @@GordonPettieFishing OK The compartment I am putting the box in with 2 other chargers for 5 batteries in my boat I always prop up the cover during charging as it gets warm and just want the heat to escape. These chargers are on 24/7 365 days a year. With the box charging the lithium I would prop open the cover Give it a try. Question with the 2 SAE Power socket I will install one for each power, does it matter when I unplug them which one I plug the charger into? I did look on your video and did not find a wiring schematic? Maybe you dont have one and just refer to the time on the video? If not no worries. Thanks

      I actually have a seperate wiring harness for my other electronics. I made it with the same components of a very popular POWER HARNESS that's on the market for a fraction of the cost. You can see glimpses of it when I am in my rod locker. You are pretty close on your estimates for the lengths you need. I plan on putting an extension with a plug that I can use if I need a couple of hours extra for my Livescope. I will just.plug the power wires from my Livescope into that. I can get 9 to 10 hours out of the 30 ah battery for the Livescope. I have ran it dead a few times after being on the water all day in the Summer months.

    Have you seen any drastic voltage drops after you've been on the lake for a while using the livescope? Like dropping from 13.2v to around 11v? I'm wanting to do the same setup but I have heard after 10+ hours of use the voltage drops pretty bad. I fish a lot of 7 to 7's and offshore fish most of the summer is the reason I ask.

    • @GordonPettieFishing
      @GordonPettieFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have gotten a little over 10 hours out of this battery with my set up several times. The voltage does drop slowly throughout the day but I wouldn't call it drastic. It was in the low 11's voltage wise. If you fish 12 hours I would go with a bigger amp hour battery. My Livescope was still performing the same even at the end of those 10 hour trips but I'm sure this battery was reaching close to it's amp hours limit.

      In my setup on this box, you would have to. If you had two SAE ports, you could use one for charging. The switch has to be on to open the circuit for power or for charging. I think you will like this setup. I still like mine, and I use the box for other things as well.

    How do you like the Sr8up mount now that you’ve used it? Do you have a good view of the bottom of the Garmin or does the top of your helix get in the way of the bottom of your Garmin? I’m getting a 1222 to put on with my Helix 12. I am worried that I won’t have a good view of the Garmin. I’m also worried that I won’t be able to fit my bow lights in the socket. I have a 2010 FX20. The bow looks a lot like yours.

      I have been VERY pleased with it. I can see the entire screen with no problems. It is very sturdy and no bouncing or vibration when running, even in rough water. There are several mounting holes in the plate that allow you to stagger the units as you need for placement. I appreciate you watching. Good fishing.

      Yes, I watched their video to build mine. In one of his videos, he talks about wiring the SAE port to be able to by pass, in order to use it as a charge port. You will use one of the switches as an on/off that goes to the SAE port. That switch has to be on to charge and to power from that port. • @GordonPettieFishing
      @GordonPettieFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally I wouldn't have it any other way. I like to have my hands free and be able to search and cast freely. I also bass fish a lot and I like to be able to search and have my hands free to cast at any time as well. When using spotlock it's all about boat positioning. With practice you can learn to position the boat and use spotlock and still be able to see your target most of the time. I only need to see my jig as it is approaching my target area or fish. I become a line watcher after that anyways. I don't have to see my jig or target 100% of the time, but it is nice when you can. Great question by the way. 👍

      I have the screen and black box hooked to the Amped battery. You can do it either way. I would suggest doing a factory reset to default. Adjust gradually from there. It's easy to get things out of whack when you adjust alot. It can change from Lake to Lake and day to day. Once you get close you shouldn't have to adjust alot to get good results. It's also VERY important to have your jig in the cone to be seen. Sometimes that takes a little practice. The cone is actually not that wide, if you are off just a little you won't see your jig at all. Thanks for watching.
