There are so many thoughts that come to mind when you think about how technology and communication keeps changing and we keep adapting to these new things. It’s both scary and interesting to me! I guess the scary part is not knowing between what’s real and fake through the internet/meta verse. But I really love the fact that we get to have all these favorite creators and be able to comment, like, and communicate with them, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when my comments get a like from someone I support!! Can’t wait to see some playlist live content, especially with Charles and Allie!! I feel like it’s been forever. Love y’all!

To answer your question about how we will progress via technology and internet, I think there’s a common theme with how all of that is evolving. As a 22 year old, I’ve sort of grown up alongside the Internet and the theme myself and others have seen with development in technological advances is that they all try and work themselves into our lives seamlessly. For example, cell phones didn’t have much more value than calling people without having to be on a landline for many years. Over time we’ve found ourselves using them to problem-solve through googling or other internet applications, we find ourselves holding memories via photo/video applications, we can do math, buy food, work, entertain ourselves and many more possibilities. My point being is that with just the example of a phone, it’s original use was limited to one thing and now we have the world in our pocket and we don’t think twice about it. Going back to the theme, phones and other things have become apart of our daily eyes without many people blinking twice about it. In terms of where we could go with this, who knows? The possibilities are literally endless in terms of how much further we can take the virtual world we’ve created. I think the theme I mentioned earlier will only continue to be present. Maybe cellphones,TV’s, computers and other things faze out within the next 100 years. Although I haven’t done any studying on implantation of technology into the human anatomy to further connect us with tech, I’m sure there’s people working on how to do such a thing. But that’s a long time from now. In terms of a more immediate future, we may see more connectivity with the apps on our phones with cars, our houses and other objects in our lives that we use daily. You see this with those who have the money for it, but it will undoubtedly become such a normal thing I think very soon. Again going back to the theme of integrating tech into our daily lives, everything will keep moving in that way. Social media will only become more social as people and apps will allow for more info or more interactions with each other. Possibilities in this field are limitless. As to how to find out how to keep up in the world of tech, I don’t have a great answer. I said earlier that I’m 22 and it’s starting to hit me that I’m not quite as “hip” with the times as some of my younger peers. I think communication, keeping your mind open and taking the time to see what’s happening in the world is my best advice as to how to perceive the further evolution to our world. Apps like Twitter often keep me up to date on several news sources whether it be just news about what’s going on where I’m at or in this case, what’s being created out there. (Using Twitter for news is another example of how phones have evolved instead of relying on the tv or newspaper) Staying engaged is important and keeping an eye and a ear out there to see what’s up. I think that’s it. Hope you enjoyed my Ted Talk if you read it Shay. I do apologize for this jumbled mess of thoughts but I do wish you the best with your panel. You’re going to do great btw! The future of social media is going to be crazy. But also incredible. Most of my friends are now my best friends that I made from social media! If it wasn’t for the internet, I wouldn’t have most of the friends in my life! I travel more to beautiful places because of social media to meet/see these friends! It’s mind blowing!

The future of social media is a scary but cool one! weve connected alot in the past 2 years due to covid, seeing virtually everythin being done on zoom meetings, i believe that most peoples day jobs will be done through social media and networking and make driving into work as such a thing of the past!

I feel like for the future social media I would love to see more real content. I miss how back in the day you could watch a family vlog and it is relatable there aren’t too many channels like yours. The future is hands down virtual reality. Not only does it give us worldwide communication but also connects us with an experience we could only dream of or see in movies. We’re barely at the first steps of VR. Along with saying this I believe the meta verse will be the next leading platform. Creating multiple jobs and giving everyone a “community” via groups and worlds. I can go on and on I do this as part of my job.

I learned this the other week, easiest way to shuck corn it cooking it in husk either in microwave or BBQ. Then u cut off the stem end and just squeeze the corn out of the husk. It comes out with no strings and ready to butter!! Try it I swear. Love ur vids btw
Hey Shay! My answer to your question for the panel: I think social media COULD be distributed one day! Rather than relying on a number of companies like Facebook, Pinterest, etc to develop social media platforms; we could all have a set of photos/blogs/videos on a distributed/blockchain network (like an NFT) You’d be able to track the ownership (or who created it) as well as could see how often it was shared / viewed / etc. Might seem a bit far fetched but I don’t think we’re that far from a version of this

When I studied modern communication in University, one of our lecturers made us consider the idea of memes and emoji’s and how a lot of people view them as shallow- but how actually emoji’s are just a form of logograms- pictorial language like hyroglyphs and how we seem to be moving towards that in digital communications more and more. There is a lot of academic stuff being written about how our digital traces are massive and that we can record moments of time and history in incredible detail thanks to the internet and digital communication. Information is more readily available to anyone these days. We were also asked to consider though how dependent we are on certain tools for it. For example, if all of a sudden the world were to lose access to the internet or electricity (or even if TH-cam were to shut down), what happens to what we have created and the content contained within? Will future civilisations be able to look back and see our information? Or will it be lost? We’re already seeing that to a certain extent because technology moves so fast. Technologies that were once cutting-edge (floppy discs and cd’s spring to mind) are very much not the norm anymore- so will we reach a point where our devices upgrade so rapidly that we lose access to what once was? Our lecturer asked us to consider whether the value of us constantly improving on technology, also hindered us in being able to preserve our communication and histories. It’s an interesting thing to think about! I’ve always found it beautiful that we’re able to capture moments in our lives so accurately and look back on them, but I also think it’s so easy now a days to snap a photo that they’ve almost lost value. I have hard drives of thousands of photos, and communication threads with people on facebook that go back years- but it’s not reasonable for me to access them at all times because there’s just SO MUCH. So in that case, I believe that I’ve lost value. A physical letter or card from a loved one who has passed is something I would cherish over a hundred pictures of them that are buried on my hard drive that no longer can connect to my laptop because of USB-C! There are adaptors yes, but the more effort someone has to display to access their data, the less likely they are to do it frequently. Communication and recording on the internet is remarkably transient, despite it being ‘held somewhere’ forever.
To me, the most popular social media apps have always been what let’s you see what your friends and celebrities are up to in the moment. In that line, I feel the next social media development would be some form of shared experience, where you can truly immerse yourself in someone else’s experience

Long time viewer here! I love you guys! Is it weird to say you love people you never met? Maybe, but it's true! To answer your question, Shay, I think that the future of social media (or technology in general) could be holographic. What I mean by that is that there would be a device projecting yourself into someone else's home while they're being projected into your home. Kind of like FaceTime but with your whole body!
I think the popularity of tik tok and BeReal are very telling of where social media is heading. BeReal is an interesting one because the purpose of it is to connect with our friends by showing them exactly what you’re doing at any given moment. But I know for a fact people will wait for the right moment, and essentially curate their snapshot based off how they want to be perceived. I think going forward, we’re going to keep seeing these new social media apps that are all about being authentic and connecting genuinely with people. But our human selves will always be tempted to put on facades. I don’t think that’s changing in the future, and I think it will continue to get harder to navigate social media and find creators and friends who are just genuinely sharing their life and their passions.
im not sure if we should comment here about you question with social media buttttt here is my opinion: My mother (UK) has 5 children. one of which lives with her but also with their partner too which is about 15 minutes driver. one lives about 5 hour drive away, one i think about 4 hours. Then there is me and my twin. I life in Germany and my sister who right now lives in Japan (she moves around a lot because her husband is in the US navy). without soical media we wouldnt have an almost instant message where we can update eachother as soon as somethings happens. we can all jump onto face time and share news right there and then! we can video things that are happening to send to each other! it is truely amazing! Especially my mother she was born in the 60s and she always talks about how it was never instant it was i'll write and then wait a week or more for a reply! (though she does miss those days!). But for me i think Meta universe is a good way for all of us to feel that we are in the same room! without oversharing say how we look just incase there are strangers or our homes (my boyfriened is very private online with his life he has facebook and twitter and barely uses them the only reason he keeps them is for my mum so they can communicate if anything happens to me) because some people arent comfy with the whole idea of everything being online! but the future for me and this is wayyyyyyy out there but i feel the only way up is having some sort of device similar to face time and the meta-universe and hollograms. I can invite my family and friends from the UK, America and Japan to any parties i host! it will be like they are in the room and can communicate with everyone else through that too. they could explore my home (with the option from the "host" which would be me to deny access to rooms too) but also to different places. say if my brother wanted a drink down the local pub with just us siblings to have a catch up we could also just us this deivce to join him there (a whole upper thing would be able to buy drinks and foods too and be able to eat and drink as if we were there tasting everything!) that would be really cool! especially for me and my sister we get really home sick and miss the welsh mountains so our brothers could just message us and tell us hey were going on a hike want to join? we could just jump onto a whole different deivce and join in! but the future of all that would be the whole thing of not needing so many devices! just one, left say at a family or a trusted friends home where through one linked to the brain you could just jump there and just do what you want to do, no more logging into facebook just jump straight to where the device is! but thats just me over thinking XD

9:15 I think communication in the few years will change a lot. Nowadays it’s like you press a button to send your thoughts or opinions to whoever through texts. But In the future I think there’s gonna be some sort of chip that goes inside of your brain and send your thoughts to whoever you’re thinking about without having to use phones or anything. Just reliance on that chip in your brain. Also we kinda have something similar now. It’s like a wristband called “bond touch” where two people wear them. Then when one of them touches the screen it’s sends a buzz or vibrations to notify the other person and the wristband has colors. And of course you’ve to choose a certain color that has a certain meaning that only they two know the meaning behind each color. In that way they will be able to understand the meaning behind every buzz/ vibration that the other person sent them. Idk that’s just my thoughts and I find this topic very interesting. I would love to know your opinion on it too.

I feel like the current theme of social media is showing off yourself (even if it isn’t an accurate, true depiction of yourself). I would love the future of social media to show the raw side of life and the trials and tribulations of it. I think that’s why I like you guys as you are real. Showing real family life. I’d love people to get connected, not de- socialising like everyone is in today’s world. I can’t see it happening as there is so much fake content and how do we create something “real” when it’s so easy to manipulate people and technology is advancing rapidly?

For example, cell phones didn’t have much more value than calling people without having to be on a landline for many years. Over time we’ve found ourselves using them to problem-solve through googling or other internet applications, we find ourselves holding memories via photo/video applications, we can do math, buy food, work, entertain ourselves and many more possibilities. My point being is that with just the example of a phone, it’s original use was limited to one thing and now we have the world in our pocket and we don’t think twice about it. Going back to the theme, phones and other things have become apart of our daily eyes without many people blinking twice about it.
In terms of where we could go with this, who knows? The possibilities are literally endless in terms of how much further we can take the virtual world we’ve created. I think the theme I mentioned earlier will only continue to be present. Maybe cellphones,TV’s, computers and other things faze out within the next 100 years. Although I haven’t done any studying on implantation of technology into the human anatomy to further connect us with tech, I’m sure there’s people working on how to do such a thing. But that’s a long time from now. In terms of a more immediate future, we may see more connectivity with the apps on our phones with cars, our houses and other objects in our lives that we use daily. You see this with those who have the money for it, but it will undoubtedly become such a normal thing I think very soon. Again going back to the theme of integrating tech into our daily lives, everything will keep moving in that way. Social media will only become more social as people and apps will allow for more info or more interactions with each other. Possibilities in this field are limitless.
As to how to find out how to keep up in the world of tech, I don’t have a great answer. I said earlier that I’m 22 and it’s starting to hit me that I’m not quite as “hip” with the times as some of my younger peers. I think communication, keeping your mind open and taking the time to see what’s happening in the world is my best advice as to how to perceive the further evolution to our world. Apps like Twitter often keep me up to date on several news sources whether it be just news about what’s going on where I’m at or in this case, what’s being created out there. (Using Twitter for news is another example of how phones have evolved instead of relying on the tv or newspaper) Staying engaged is important and keeping an eye and a ear out there to see what’s up.

The future of social media is a scary but cool one! weve connected alot in the past 2 years due to covid, seeing virtually everythin being done on zoom meetings, i believe that most peoples day jobs will be done through social media and networking and make driving into work as such a thing of the past!

The future is hands down virtual reality. Not only does it give us worldwide communication but also connects us with an experience we could only dream of or see in movies.
We’re barely at the first steps of VR. Along with saying this I believe the meta verse will be the next leading platform. Creating multiple jobs and giving everyone a “community” via groups and worlds. I can go on and on I do this as part of my job.

Rather than relying on a number of companies like Facebook, Pinterest, etc to develop social media platforms; we could all have a set of photos/blogs/videos on a distributed/blockchain network (like an NFT)
You’d be able to track the ownership (or who created it) as well as could see how often it was shared / viewed / etc.
Might seem a bit far fetched but I don’t think we’re that far from a version of this

When I studied modern communication in University, one of our lecturers made us consider the idea of memes and emoji’s and how a lot of people view them as shallow- but how actually emoji’s are just a form of logograms- pictorial language like hyroglyphs and how we seem to be moving towards that in digital communications more and more.
There is a lot of academic stuff being written about how our digital traces are massive and that we can record moments of time and history in incredible detail thanks to the internet and digital communication. Information is more readily available to anyone these days. We were also asked to consider though how dependent we are on certain tools for it. For example, if all of a sudden the world were to lose access to the internet or electricity (or even if TH-cam were to shut down), what happens to what we have created and the content contained within? Will future civilisations be able to look back and see our information? Or will it be lost? We’re already seeing that to a certain extent because technology moves so fast. Technologies that were once cutting-edge (floppy discs and cd’s spring to mind) are very much not the norm anymore- so will we reach a point where our devices upgrade so rapidly that we lose access to what once was?
Our lecturer asked us to consider whether the value of us constantly improving on technology, also hindered us in being able to preserve our communication and histories. It’s an interesting thing to think about! I’ve always found it beautiful that we’re able to capture moments in our lives so accurately and look back on them, but I also think it’s so easy now a days to snap a photo that they’ve almost lost value. I have hard drives of thousands of photos, and communication threads with people on facebook that go back years- but it’s not reasonable for me to access them at all times because there’s just SO MUCH. So in that case, I believe that I’ve lost value. A physical letter or card from a loved one who has passed is something I would cherish over a hundred pictures of them that are buried on my hard drive that no longer can connect to my laptop because of USB-C! There are adaptors yes, but the more effort someone has to display to access their data, the less likely they are to do it frequently. Communication and recording on the internet is remarkably transient, despite it being ‘held somewhere’ forever.
To me, the most popular social media apps have always been what let’s you see what your friends and celebrities are up to in the moment. In that line, I feel the next social media development would be some form of shared experience, where you can truly immerse yourself in someone else’s experience

Long time viewer here! I love you guys! Is it weird to say you love people you never met? Maybe, but it's true! To answer your question, Shay, I think that the future of social media (or technology in general) could be holographic. What I mean by that is that there would be a device projecting yourself into someone else's home while they're being projected into your home. Kind of like FaceTime but with your whole body!

I think the popularity of tik tok and BeReal are very telling of where social media is heading. BeReal is an interesting one because the purpose of it is to connect with our friends by showing them exactly what you’re doing at any given moment. But I know for a fact people will wait for the right moment, and essentially curate their snapshot based off how they want to be perceived. I think going forward, we’re going to keep seeing these new social media apps that are all about being authentic and connecting genuinely with people. But our human selves will always be tempted to put on facades. I don’t think that’s changing in the future, and I think it will continue to get harder to navigate social media and find creators and friends who are just genuinely sharing their life and their passions.
im not sure if we should comment here about you question with social media buttttt here is my opinion:
My mother (UK) has 5 children. one of which lives with her but also with their partner too which is about 15 minutes driver. one lives about 5 hour drive away, one i think about 4 hours. Then there is me and my twin. I life in Germany and my sister who right now lives in Japan (she moves around a lot because her husband is in the US navy). without soical media we wouldnt have an almost instant message where we can update eachother as soon as somethings happens. we can all jump onto face time and share news right there and then! we can video things that are happening to send to each other! it is truely amazing! Especially my mother she was born in the 60s and she always talks about how it was never instant it was i'll write and then wait a week or more for a reply! (though she does miss those days!). But for me i think Meta universe is a good way for all of us to feel that we are in the same room! without oversharing say how we look just incase there are strangers or our homes (my boyfriened is very private online with his life he has facebook and twitter and barely uses them the only reason he keeps them is for my mum so they can communicate if anything happens to me) because some people arent comfy with the whole idea of everything being online! but the future for me and this is wayyyyyyy out there but i feel the only way up is having some sort of device similar to face time and the meta-universe and hollograms. I can invite my family and friends from the UK, America and Japan to any parties i host! it will be like they are in the room and can communicate with everyone else through that too. they could explore my home (with the option from the "host" which would be me to deny access to rooms too) but also to different places. say if my brother wanted a drink down the local pub with just us siblings to have a catch up we could also just us this deivce to join him there (a whole upper thing would be able to buy drinks and foods too and be able to eat and drink as if we were there tasting everything!) that would be really cool! especially for me and my sister we get really home sick and miss the welsh mountains so our brothers could just message us and tell us hey were going on a hike want to join? we could just jump onto a whole different deivce and join in! but the future of all that would be the whole thing of not needing so many devices! just one, left say at a family or a trusted friends home where through one linked to the brain you could just jump there and just do what you want to do, no more logging into facebook just jump straight to where the device is! but thats just me over thinking XD

I think communication in the few years will change a lot.
Nowadays it’s like you press a button to send your thoughts or opinions to whoever through texts. But In the future I think there’s gonna be some sort of chip that goes inside of your brain and send your thoughts to whoever you’re thinking about without having to use phones or anything. Just reliance on that chip in your brain. Also we kinda have something similar now. It’s like a wristband called “bond touch” where two people wear them. Then when one of them touches the screen it’s sends a buzz or vibrations to notify the other person and the wristband has colors. And of course you’ve to choose a certain color that has a certain meaning that only they two know the meaning behind each color. In that way they will be able to understand the meaning behind every buzz/ vibration that the other person sent them.
Idk that’s just my thoughts and I find this topic very interesting. I would love to know your opinion on it too.

I feel like the current theme of social media is showing off yourself (even if it isn’t an accurate, true depiction of yourself). I would love the future of social media to show the raw side of life and the trials and tribulations of it. I think that’s why I like you guys as you are real. Showing real family life. I’d love people to get connected, not de- socialising like everyone is in today’s world. I can’t see it happening as there is so much fake content and how do we create something “real” when it’s so easy to manipulate people and technology is advancing rapidly?
