@@bloodymxx2199 wait till you see the video . I’m here now in Dortmund. Around 20K of us here and there are Dortmund fans amongst us. Amazing atmosphere 👊🏻
Few comments on this: I am sure that among the Dortmund supporters you definitely had some idiots misbehaving. However, I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to have the Dortmund fans marching under a bridge surrounded by Newcastle fans. Also I don’t know if English fans are aware of this, but filming the Ultras is a massive provocation and goes beyond your usual banter. Police in Germany is going through this footage to identify group structures and members of certain groups. This can lead to house raids, stadium bans etc. What is more, many of them have probably called in sick at work to make this trip and if your employer sees footage of you walking around in Newcastle there’s a good chance you lose your job. That’s why people got so mad. Still no need or justification for violence on both ends. Just hope for a great rematch in Dortmund with good atmosphere and loads of beers to be shared between all fans. From my personal experience most English fans are good sports and quite similar to us Germans.
I mean, as a general rule, if you're wagging off work to go watch the football, maybe it would be a good idea not to go on a massive march that will draw attention to you where you'll be filmed. Also, if you are 'forming into group structures' that cause the Police to raid houses, you're probably up to no good, and filming you is probably actually a good idea.
@@BaronSpamediNot really. Authorities in Germany are champing at the bit to suppress fans and impose collective punishments. One person does wrong, they go after the group. Just because they carry out house raids doesn't mean they're justified.
@@BaronSpamedi The fact that many football fans, especially ultras, refuse to conform to what society deems normal doesn't present an arrestable offense. These people have regular lives during the week too, on the weekend they choose to be "different".The ultra-movement is said to be the largest organized youth subculture in Germany and goes beyond just watching a game. Choreographies, fundraisers, banners, and social engagement are just parts of this. In Germany Police and FA do their best to suppress this, as it goes against the image of a polished, perfect, and most of all, markertable football.
Great Footage! As Dortmund Supporter I can't imagine such a march of away fans in our city centre. Dortmund has a massive supporting group. From my visits in the english stadiums (walsall, wolves and aston villa) I know the atmosphere. So I could imagine that there would be some clashes. But in Overall Dortmund Fans are very proud on their team and are not as aggressive as it seems in some scenes you caught. Please take the opportunity to come to Dortmund and get fascinated by the yellow wall and stadium. Stay safe and may we see us in the beautifulest stadium of the world😊

I am not sure if you are serious but I don’t really think Dortmund fans or most away fans in general expect to receive a friendly welcome. It’s just at least to some point part of football that there are confrontations and that it’s not friendly.
Great video 👍We're becoming an embarrassment, our fans are known for our hospitality, I've travelled all over Europe without much incident now we have absolute bellEnds causing trouble that will result in our loyal fans facing a hostile environment when we go to Paris and Dortmund

good video Eddie, ive seen Dortmund fans at the Bridge last season. Most are generally very friendly as ive worked on Dover- Calais ferries for 11 years and fans come to and from all the time.
I don't understand why the Police allowed the PSG march to the ground or this one. This inevitably creates a confrontational situation. Away fans are free to circulate and drink in any part of the city and make their own way to the ground on a normal match day and in past European games there was none of this, that I can remember. We certainly had no organised "march" to the ground in Milan and I cannot see how they could do it in Paris or Dortmund. Or why anyone would want to be part of one.
Hi Chris. Ultras are organised groups that are highly motivated and have rudimentary rank structures. They’re almost like a military unit. It’s part of their tradition to march to the stadium, a bit like an army unit going into battle, hence the drums and coordinated chants. We have a different culture and therefore it’s necessary to provide a police escort to ensure the safety of all concerned. We can’t just refuse 2-3K (mainly men) to not congregate and march. That’s impossible
Once again, great video from Tyneside life. My opinion is this. I think the Police and planners haven’t handled this well at all. They’ve allowed PSG and Dortmund fans to over populate bars in the city centre/Big Market area, then they are faced with the difficulty of moving a large group through the most densely packed areas of the city, where emotions are high and the atmosphere tense, which inevitably leads to pockets of trouble. Why don’t they create an away fans zone around Times Square area. They can be contained and then moved up St James Boulevard as the match nears, avoiding the city centre and especially the Blackett Street/Percy street junction/bottle neck under the bridge. Poor planning and Policing.
Great idea, just impossible to organise, manage and execute. Ultras are from a different culture to us snd part of that is their march. If we attempt to stifle that, I can see only one likely outcome. All things considered I thought it went well except for a few minor incidents

EEEE AYE EEEE AYE EEEE AYE OHH........EEEE AYE EEEE AYE EEEE AYE OHH.........UP THE PREMIER LEAUGE WE GO....... THOSE POOR DORTMUND FANS MUST HAVE BEEN TERRIFIED
Why did our people allow drums and megaphones into the stadium?? It ruined the atmosphere and the monotonous one chant per half by their fans was effective in quieting our lot down. Wor flags have done their bit but it’s time for the supporters to organize the singing sections better as English fans are being outdone I’m afraid
Hi Alan, we can’t stop them bringing a drum in. It’s not a prohibited article. It annoying for opposing fans but that’s the point. It destroyed our atmosphere and we were quiet for most of the game and that gives their team an advantage. I have to say, being up close to them twice now, I’m very impressed! They’re almost like a military unit going into battle. Highly motivated snd well organised, something I think we could learn from. In my opinion 😃
Not sure why English clubs don’t learn from these fans? Almost every European team have these fans. They’re well organised, everyone sings and claps in unison, it’s like a well organised machine. I personally love the drum, has a gearing for battle feel, and helps synchronise the singing, doesn’t have to drum incessantly but initiates the singing. English fans seem disorganised and only sing if they’re winning
It will either have been agreed to be taken in via a fan liason pre-game, or they just take them in with force. The police/club will know its better to allow it than cause a provocation.
Pushing you! Do they know who you are!!! Joking aside think the police may have had a wake up call after PSG so going to police Champions league matches at home a bit more aggressively given the number of away fans and how organised they are
CCTV , organised coaches , police escorts , designated safe pubs , marching in there thousands to the stadiums 😂 give me the old days when a good crew had to fight and negotiate the hostile route from the station to the pubs , enemy territory , to the away end 😂
You’ve got this the wrong way around Kev. The police aren’t stopping them from going where they want, they’re providing an escort for their traditional march to the stadium. To do this there is advanced planning and roads are closed to facilitate it. The fact that we have a city centre stadium means the ultras are marching 1/2 mile through our city centre too. Having an organised and policed march is s lot safer than the alternative…
@@TynesideLife just the look on their faces … like why has this to be so hostile. Lived in Dortmund, now 1km away from Union Berlin stadium. Some fan groups don‘t even being separated because in the end there will always be a group that will make trouble anyway, this are maybe 5%.
When the away fans have the procession, it seems like a statement that they are marching into enemy territory, I get that it's their fan culture, but not ours so I also get why home fans feel provoked. I don't condone any violence by the way. I just don't think the away supporters should be allowed to do this, they are visiting this country and should be mindful of how our football fan culture is.
I disagree Graham, unless you expect Newcastle fans to be respectful of the cultures in other countries? We don’t care if we invade the canal area of Milan for example, drink ourselves stupid, leave rubbish everywhere, rock cars and vans etc? I think we should respect their ultra culture and not throw missiles at them like cowards. It shames us
I do expect, or hope, maybe, that any away fans are respectful to the culture they visit . I am not condoning the missile throwing at all and it is shameful. @@TynesideLife
European Ultras have a tradition of marching to opposing teams stadiums. A bit like simulating a military unit going into battle. Many have drums and all have coordinated chants. It’s very impressive and can be intimidating. Ultras are very organised, have rudimentary rank structures and some have extreme right wing views. We in the UK don’t have that kind of organisation with our fans. UK football hooligans are disorganised, drunk and chaotic. Of course, police escorts are necessary for everyone’s safety. There’s just no way around it. If there weren’t any police, there’d be havoc.
@@jaffatanski the march is prearranged and roads are closed in advance. The exact location can change which is what happened with Dortmund. Yep you guys absolutely destroyed thes Dortmund guys imo, and Dortmund should have been better since they won!
Like going back in time to the mid 80's like the Geordies have never seen a European before pretty pathetic response to people visiting your City for a football game
Who was the guy who shoved you, was he polis or NUFC employee?
I was shoved by two different police officers, warned by another that I didn’t catch on video and pushed by a Dortmund club official
Good video Eddie!
👊🏻
No need for any aggro, been to Dortmund many times and never a hint of trouble and even sitting with opposition fans.
👍🏻👊🏻
As a German, I am so confused why there are so many Newcastle fans allowed next to Dortmund fans.
What do you mean?
Fans are separated more strictly here, there is no chance you have hundreds of drunk agressive home fans 3 meter away from the away ultras on their way to the stadium. Looks like it could have easily escalated a lot more, and as fun as it is to give a bit of banter as a normal person to the away team, especially when it's BVB, I personally wouldn't want to fight the first few rows of Dortmund fans where most of them do kickboxing and shit specifically for these occasions.@@TynesideLife
@@nikinhosvr4861 it’s a difficult situation as St James’ Park is in the city centre, so it’s impossible to separate the fans if Ultras want to do their March. That’s why there was such a heavy police presence.
@0;48ish The dibble comes out with "It's for your own safety" That is the alibi of the tyrant. I really enjoy your videos pal, ever since I saw the first one about the 2 lads pulled by GMP dibble at The Etihad.

Not a women in sight , it’s all about hooligans been able to have a free walk through our streets 🇬🇧 do this outside the uk and were classed as a racist nation
Dortmund always have a good away following.
Great work. Everton fan x
Cheers Matt 👊🏻
The letters on the back of the helmets identify the force, some of the police were from Durham?
Some from the Met too 👍🏻
The cops are afraid, the establishment is afraid. It is a good start ! :-))))))
I don't like this ultra type of so called support. They follow drums and tannoy instructions like a bunch of angry sheep. It attracts trouble as well
It keeps the opposing fans quiet too
Eddie I’ve got a feeling Newcastle will get something over there. Dortmund set up well and didn’t do much else. Hopefully Eddie Howe can get organised for them. I think Borrusia Dortmund and their stadium is one if not the greatest in Europe as a Rangers fan we beat them spectacularly on our way to Europa final but minus a lot of their fans due to the covid bollocks and minus Elling Halland but with Jude Bellingham. Onwards and upwards Eddie
Cheers bud 👊🏻
Oi oi eddy.

Whats the common theme here . Trouble last night ,psg game and with leeds and villa . Its Newcastle fans . England fans will get it in Germany next summer
Eddie, do you know what the policy is on drums in the Stadium - can they be banned, if not then we should take them to their place and give them headaches. I still have headache now from last night.
They’re not a prohibited item bud and at the moment we’re just not that organised to make it work 😅
We definitely need a decent drummer
The drums are awesome, our atmosphere needs it desperately
should get the guy that sits outside the strawberry on his drum kit into the stadium.@@whatyeonaboot

Good video, but what’s the crap with Ultras, if they were there would be nowt left of the toon
I don’t understand your question bud?
I would advise you to go over to Dortmund and behave they have a hell of a lot of fans at Signal Iduna
Only a matter of time before these matches produce full scale riots with many casualties
All because of a minority of idiotic Newcastle fans throwing bottles.
@@Hedged001 👍🏻👊🏻
It will either have been agreed to be taken in via a fan liason pre-game, or they just take them in with force. The police/club will know its better to allow it than cause a provocation.
It is disrespectful to publish the faces of our Ultras just for clicks.
You’re in a public place and this is journalism.
Pushing you! Do they know who you are!!! Joking aside think the police may have had a wake up call after PSG so going to police Champions league matches at home a bit more aggressively given the number of away fans and how organised they are
How dare they 😅
The police here are still much better than most of Europe have been to lots of away games to watch spurs
CCTV , organised coaches , police escorts , designated safe pubs , marching in there thousands to the stadiums 😂 give me the old days when a good crew had to fight and negotiate the hostile route from the station to the pubs , enemy territory , to the away end 😂
😅
Ultras is the best
This shit is totally down to the policing, let them go any place they want. The police are creating problems between the fans…
3:49 Dortmund fans faces: „why?“
Don’t understand your question?
@@TynesideLife just the look on their faces … like why has this to be so hostile. Lived in Dortmund, now 1km away from Union Berlin stadium. Some fan groups don‘t even being separated because in the end there will always be a group that will make trouble anyway, this are maybe 5%.
Great vid..... I'd hate to be a cop
Were there any women or is it a ‘man thing’ over there/away support?
From what I’ve witnessed so far, being an ultra is very much a male thing
@@TynesideLife Thanks, did all seem a bit testosteroney 😀 great videos btw.
@@gailarmstrong7967 did you fancy being an ultra? 😃
@@TynesideLife 😄 Nah all a bit too grrr for me. Prefer the gentle Geordies the East Stand who share their sherbet lemons at half time 😂
So where do these marches start from? Why create this atmosphere? Rugby fans are allowed to make their own ways to a stadium 🤷♂️
@@TynesideLife so it's all prearranged with the police so they say where it starts an route to the stadium?
@@jaffatanski the march is prearranged and roads are closed in advance. The exact location can change which is what happened with Dortmund. Police know in advance about the march but didn’t know exactly where it would start and then decide their safety strategy etc based on recent intelligence. The eventual march started around 100m from where it was originally thought it would, but on the same route.
Newcastle has a city centre stadium too which makes it even more of an impactive event
