My freshman year, 1987, I was in Troup. Dorms were overloaded. It was decent hack then. Then again, it was "college" and not "university". If you went into the building thru the door facing the main campus buildings, I was first suite upstairs on the right. Head RA lived below up. RA across the way. And a palm tree in the middle of the building.
But the palm trees and such were one of the most unique things ABOUT The Suites! It gave them more character and charm. I applaud the addition of air conditioning and retooling of the bathrooms, but the makeover and "modern" look make it look so much more.... soulless....
1999 alum here. These suites were long overdue for an update back even in my time. Glad to see the roughly $70k tuition went to something useful.

@danielposey3897 all of our Residence Halls are equipped with fire sprinkler systems and are up to code.
