    Peter Singer is a professor of bioethics at Princeton, best known for his 1975 book Animal Liberation, that makes an ethical case against eating meat. He has written brilliantly from an ethical perspective on extreme poverty, euthanasia, human genetic selection, sports doping, the sale of kidneys, and happiness including in his books Ethics in the Real World and The Life You Can Save. He was a key popularizer of the effective altruism movement and is generally considered one of the most influential philosophers in the world.

    Singer is, on the whole, excellent, but starting at 3:01, he introduces unnecessary confusion by not pointing out (as I am sure he could have) that bad and good consequences would be measured in a common unit (sometimes referred to as a "util") and that the marginal value of that unit would be constant regardless of a sentient being's fortunate or unfortunate circumstances (and regardless of the timing of the consequences).

    3:46 Peter wouldn't have an hour of his most painful experiences for a following ten hours of his most painful experiences? This man is crazy!
