- In this video I talk about the effects of Sade Sati, Saturn in the 12th, 1st and 2nd sign from the Moon as well as the effects of other Saturn's transits from the Moon. This video is one class from my Positional Transits course which is available at www.astrology-videos.com
When it comes to transit, Saturn is always going to be a big player. Saturn, the slow-moving planet, has a long and significant impact that astrologers pay close attention to. Vedic astrologers, in particular, focus on Saturn's position relative to the moon during transits. They analyze where Saturn is transiting from and what sign it is in with respect to the moon's position. One crucial time of concern is when Saturn is in the 12th house or the first and second houses from the moon. This period, known as "sade sati," spans seven and a half years and is considered challenging by most astrologers.
However, we need to understand Saturn's entire journey beyond just these difficult positions. It's easy for people to fear their upcoming sati sati period or believe that happiness will be impossible during this time. There are even myths about how Saturn ruins lives during its transit through sati sati. But let's put things into perspective - anyone over thirty has already experienced their own sati sati period without everything falling apart completely.

During my Sade Sati : Phase 1. Career Progression, Financial Gain, Fame, Wedding.... Phase 2: Sudden Downfall in Career, I springboard back! >Boom l Fall again, Repeat ( 3 falls in 2.5 years), Change of place Loss of Property Phase 3. Medical expenses (wife), Multiple minor accidents ( 3), Multiple Broken Relationship, Loss of Fame... Just to mention a few. What I Learnt? Humility, Communication, cultivating & fixing relationships, Overcame Alcohol Abuse, Cultivated personal desiplain, Learnt to say ”Sorry” and move on... Fortunately my wife supported me through this phase & Surprisingly our relationship grew Stronger. I type this on the Last day of My Sade Sati..... 24th January I am told it ends. I don't even know what to expect...... I am a changed person!
Mine got over on 29th April again it went retrograde i am back in sadesati and it finally will be over in Jan 23rd,2023.

I'm just starting sade sati (Moon in Capricorn). When Saturn entered the 11th from the moon (Scorpio), I started studying Vedanta, and fell in love, and near the end (this august), I started Jyotish studies. @@sonsneezer Hello! Not easy regarding the pandemic, got covid twice since Saturn entered Capricorn. But... I'm already working with Jyotish, reading charts daily, found my purpose. Also met my husband right after I made this comment. It's being a challenge at the emotional department, though. Ups and downs, a lot of quiet moments. So... It's been interesting, to say the least.

Jupiter just entered Aquarius your 2nd house from moon which is usually a really favorable transit so things should be manageable, but imo April 2022 Jupiter will enter 3rd from moon which is supposedly the worst Jupiter transit from moon(which maybe true!)hopefully you're goin through an auspicious Dasa/bhukti to tide things over...🙏

Saturn moved into the 11th from my natal Moon in September 2007. That was nearly 6 months after I became widowed. I had run the family business with my husband and it was his wish that it be closed down. So I needed to find something else to do.
Over the next few months I pondered about what to do, went on a couple of training courses on wealth creation. In June 2008, I enrolled in the Chopra Centre Teachers Training Programme, which I completed in October 2009, just before Saturn moved into Libra on 1st November beginning the period of Sade Sati.
So looking back, I did take advantage to improve myself and now I'm coming to the end of my Sade Sati period, I can look back and say that it hasn't been too bad. I've learnt new skills that has enabled me to live comfortably and I enjoy what I do.
Great, so you set yourself up during Saturn in the 11th to get through the sade sati quite well. Sade sati is also sort of a rest period, especially as it goes through the 12th from the Moon. Its always a rest from something, and so if its a rest from at least one stressful thing that can be one thing going for it.

As usual Ernst, you are on top of the league having explained the Saturn transits in such a unique way that I haven't read or heard such stuff in a long time. Contrary to what many astrologers (especially Indian) write about transits from 3,6,11, I lost my job during my current Saturn transit in 11th from Moon but the greatest gift it started giving me was a strong interest in meditation, spirituality, astrology which I have been pursuing since the past few months. I know I will get a job and probably life will come to back to its normal track but these things have taken me into an entire different dimension which a normal materialistic life can't teach you. Thanks for this video......

(I believe the Vedics consider this Combust), however, I've come to a hypothesis that all our Ancient Texts have had some degree of "editing in favor of the Rulers, Emperor's, Kings, etc", for keeping the Masses/Public in a general "weakened state of Fear-based Thoughts" to help them to more easily manage the PO unlikely c, to help them ensure their Superior Position, protect their Power and Profits, keeping them Profiting from the Worker Bees, as Our:
*" Thoughts+ Feelings X Beliefs "*
establish our Frequency which attracts lol je energy/frequency = Our Reality.
If we expect and believe "something", it will be.
The *"Universal Law of Attraction"* is Absolute.
Thus, where the areas that are interpreted as malefic, apply the thought reasoning if, "I need only apply the relative actions of achieving _________, and it should be looked at as a Homework Assignment of Self Development for Gaining the Benefits, and when we do this *"the results will match the Attitude of Thought"* and the Physical Actions will be with far greater ease.

This is such a powerful video thank you!! Coming to the end of my own Sade Sati phase (Sag Moon in Vedic) and its been a tough 8 years as I've shed so much from my life including a false identity i was clinging to but also it's brought me to the truth of who I am in terms of my true identity and for that I'm eternally grateful. Loved the analogy of the ocean and lifeboat when Saturn is transiting the 11th house from the moon and having something to cling onto for when the Sade Sati period happens. That's my daughter. I became pregnant when Saturn was transiting the 11th from my moon and then tore my life apart 4 years later during Sade Sati by leaving my marriage, becoming a single parent, ending shitty jobs, starting a business and going through so many low moments during the Sade Sati phase. But my daughter (born during Saturn transiting the 11th from my moon) has been my rock and my constant.
This gives me hope. Left an abusive marriage at the beginning and I took, am now a single parent. Shedding so much and experiencing solitude. In some ways, it's driving me absolutely insane.

Saturn is closing in on my moon. Less about 9 degrees. I am an adult male going though this the 2nd. The first time This happened I was still in singal digits. My life was a wide awake nightmare. I developed trichotillomania, a hair pulling disorder caused by sever anxiety. I noticed a huge change in everybody except my brother and sisters, with my dad around I felt like they needed my protection. My eyelashes and eyebrows where pulled clean off my face for 6 years. I was treated like a freak by many people, even by ones I needed. I can go on and on about how horrible my life has been. I wouldn't take a second back. At a young age I learned to hate my self to fit in. Then I learned many, many other ways to adapted to others. I under stood the difference between shallow people and deep people, at a vary young age. I would notice right and wrong were made up. My child hood wasn't all that great, but I believe I have a deep clearity when it comes to personalities and egos. This 2nd time coming up got nasty when my Venus Saturn dasha began. I have achieved many clandestine acts in this short amout of time now I believe saturn is helping me to take initiative.
Everyday is Sade Sati for me (Saturn square Moon natally). I understand how Saturn feels, everyone hates me, too lol..

Well, i had two times Sade sati already, and I'm not even 40 years old. It almost killed me, both times. I was mature enough without it. Well, it did gave me some kind of mental freedom, but the price was too much. I still suffer. Gift and a curse, that what Saturn is to me...I try to make peace with it, but my heart is broken
So right I guess,though I suffered with depression for 10yrs I was never heart broken,I bounced back but now I can't smile or laugh wholeheartedly

Lost my father in 1982, when Saturn was in the 12th house from my natal Moon. Lost my mother in 2012, when Saturn was again in the 12th house of my natal Moon. In 2020, when Saturn was transiting the 3rd house from my Moon, I got the idea that helped me accumulate a nice (not very big, but big for me) amount of money that was the largest amount so far in my life. It is definitely helping me not suffer and fret like I usually do. In my natal chart, my Saturn is in the 6th house from my Moon. Not sure if the same rule applies, but I am usually able to not fall into the trap of desiring and needing many things. Again - a great video and some very unique observations. I do not know much about Vedic astrology, but so far and the way you explain it in your videos, I like it very much. Many aha moments.
The last 3rd of my Sade Sati was the best time of my life so far and the whole Sade Sati was not terrible at all. Saturn's return was faaaaaaaaar worse.

It definitely depends on the aspects and then the current time transits, plus the life we've cultivated along the way.
But it does cause one to wonder just what little factors create such tragic curcumstances, especially loss of loved ones and life's work, financial security, and realizing that you're really alone, completely without tools, and all whom really cared about you are gone. Even those whom you've known for long time, but havent been around, ya just don't seem to communicate with successfully - they literally don't get it - and ya don't want to burden anyone plus one gets unworthy feeling.
But ya know there's a positive change coming - cause it's been 11 years of serious challenges and it all originated around health.
Without a purpose for the journey - (What am I supposed to learn from this? - trying to achieve this answer has been a difficult search
Astrology has allowed for a great deal of Philosophical understanding and opened so many Windows in my mind to spiritual possibilities - these have to be a part of the journey purpose -
For these - I am so truly thankful, for the hope - I am inspired
I just wish I could purchase a Teacher's Conference for all my odd questions - to have confirmed answers for certainty that I'm understanding the directions.

I am currently in my sade sati (12th from pieces natal moon). Started my ketu mahadasa this 2023, rahu transited my natal moon. I am bracing myself. Something wakes me up when the clock is near 3 am. I keep telling myself to do my meditation during that time. Even a black stray cat (who started living within our house premises) wakes me up by our bedroom window.

Sade Sati is not going to erase the effects of other things that are happening in the chart. Its just one thing amongst many things. So there could have been any number of money things happening at that time.
I just have all of my fast planets and the moon in the same sign (Scorpio) and am having a pretty rough time. What to do???

I've met my boyfriend over 3 years ago when saturn was about to enter the sign of my moon. With some turbulences in the first year and few months apart we're still together. Now saturn is second from the moon and we're slowly talking about moving in and getting married in the future.. How relationships work astrologicaly speaking in sade sati? Any thoughts on that please?

Hi Ernst thanks for the video. I am Libra moon & Taurus Ascendant. My Sade Sati will end soon this January. Saturn will move to my 3rd house from moon. But it will enter 8th house from my Ascendant. Now 8th house is considered bad house. Lots of Astrologers consider transit from both moon & Ascendant. I am not sure what to expect when Saturn goes into Sagittarius this year. Do you consider transits from Ascendant as well, apart from moon ?

it is difficult. Next month Saturn will be directly transiting my birth moon. Got to know got cancer and my life just been so horrible but I am surviving cos of a massive amount of psychological work I was forced to do in my life. One thing for sure one can mature and a lot and maturity is liberation.

Ernst, this is the BEST I've heard on Saturn transits from the Moon in Vedic astrology! REAL insight, incredible!!. I have looked back over my entire life (I am 57!)..so I can tell you this works. Latest cycle : got best secure teaching job - Saturn in 3rd from Moon. Got lovely pet companion - Saturn 6th from Moon. Got best relationship Saturn 11th from Moon. {is it not incredible how even the meaning of the houses link up>)

Shruti Reddy Hi, when it comes to transits, it does not make any difference - eg. I am using Vedic signs from the Moon. So my Moon in Pisces (Vedic) - all of Pisces becomes 1st house etc... What I usually do is take Pisces to be 23 degrees or so of Pisces to 23 of Aries in the western ephemeris. Because tropical zodiac is 23 degrees (rough - maybe 24 now?) degrees ahead of sidereal.
georgiegirlize Thanks I am trying to hang on to your explanation. I am a libra moon, when Saturn was in libra, I went thru a lot of frustration, lack, relationship loss, and pet loss. Very confusing time: now Saturn in scorpio, are you saying that Saturn would be on my 2nd house based on starting point of moon in libra? Thanks very much for your help. I am not happy regardless where Saturn is located. Life is difficult all the time. I just wait its end. Besides, I think that if I had dometimes got what Ivwant, it would have made me happy. When I never getvwhatcI want ir evennwhat I need, it is not teaching to me anythkngvelse but that I am worthless. My life is useless, that’s it. My life seems to be usefull to other people but to me it is totally useless.

Is it possible to have a sade sati in early infancy or does that just not count? I'm asking because my moon is in capricorn and I researched saturn transits over the last decades and surprisingly the last time saturn went over my moon I was 3 years old and that was when I lost my aunt who was very dear to me. Does that count as a Sade Sati? BTW, I saw in a video of another astrology channel that because my moon is in capricorn sade sati is somewhat easier for me. Would like to know more about that too.
+Amanda Andermann Yes, that is a sade sati and it happens early w hen Saturn right behind the moon when born. No, cap moon does not make sade sati easier, its how good Saturn is from all the other planets and the lagna in accordance with ashtakavarga that determines that.

Hello sirBig respect for you.I have always been a fan of tropical zodiac system.If you could clear one doubt of mine ,i'll be thankful to you all of my life.When we check Saturn or mars transit over our moon sign for the prediction ,which system shall we follow?I see that most of people follow vedic system, but when i check my saturn or mars transit over my moon sign, i follow tropical zodiac system, and i feel it is more accurate.My moon is 17 degree sagitarius in tropical zodiac.I am also Sun in Aquarius house 8 asc cancerPlease help me with that.

At 7 min... just a quick question about your talk of the opposition of moon and saturn... but what if your moon (in Cap- house 2) and your saturn (in Cap- house 1) are in the same sign??
Moon and Saturn together show disappointing emotional experiences, usually the Saturn return is pretty hard i that area and then a phase of that hardship since birth is over and so a lot of changes can be made. One thing to be aware of is that one's health with Saturn moon conjunct will become more emotionally dependent after the Saturn return.

In sade sati person gets clense of his karmic debts. Last 6 months of Sade sati are very beneficial. Saturn is a planet of Justice.
Thank you for a very informative video. I'm teaching myself vedic through videos! I just started Sade Sati on Jan 24, 2020 (my moon is Aquarius). One of my greatest joys was my beautiful soulmate cat. At 19 and 2 months, she passed over on Feb 6 so right after Sade Sati started :( Unfortunately, I didn't know about making the most of 11th house Saturn and 3rd and 6th. I'm feeling so bummed about the time I may have "wasted" not making hay while the sun was shining! Does anyone have any tips about this situation?

Moon is always a natural enemy towards Saturn. Saturn is always a natural neutral towards Moon, but there is the special rule that Saturn starves any planet he is with, so when with the Moon the Moon gets hurt as if Saturn were an enemy.

Deepti Sharma vedas are not yours))) long ago the whole world was ruled by one king. The knowledge is our. It’s not about the country. God gave knowledge to everyone. For sure having taken birth in India makes it easier (a good amount of scriptures are preserved) but if one has sukriti (merits from previous lifes) he will find all that is necessary to make a progress in the spiritual life.

I have moon in Scorpio and so I am in Sade Sati right now. (Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius) I also noticed that, Saturn was in Virgo when I was born, which means it entered Libra pretty soon after. Technically, that is Sade Sati in early childhood. I will also go through it again 30 years from now in my early 60's. So, can children go through Sade Sati? Does Saturn "take it easier" on children and the elderly than it does young adults going through Sade Sati?

I have the exact same situation (my moon is at 29º Scorpio) so I've wondered this myself. I don't remember my childhood being particularly bad at that time. I'm 32 now and in the middle of Sade Sati, so I'll have another one in 30 years.
Julia Michas My Nakshatra is Anuradha, and it has been very tough during this Sade Sati period for me. My childhood had bad elements, but was good on the whole. Sade Sati doesn't seem to take it easier on older people either.

Dear Ernst, Does it same for Lagna Lord, gochara, sub dasa transitions? Now the Saturn is transitioning in 11th for Shravana nakshatra, very very very scary if Saturn is in 8th house in natal chart. Life rips apart.
God only knows after 30 yrs of Saturn phase , if the person can still able to think of God !!!

More in transit. Its always good to have any planet of mars, mercury ,Jupiter, venus or Saturn in the 2nd or 12th from the moon - if there is no planet in those positions the moon is a bit weaker actually.
I’m going through the second phase of Sade Sati (Vedic, moon in Sag) and I have a Cap Moon, Western Astrology, which will be the third stage of Sade Sati for me, as Saturn will transit through Capricorn. Will this be double whammy for me? I don’t know how to prepare for this. Since 2014, life has been really rough and emotionally draining and toxic.
You cant mix western positions of planets and sidereal positions that most Vedic astrologers use. If your moon is in Capricorn with western your sade sati started dec 26 about in 2014. On this December 19 Saturn will go into Capricorn, your moon sign, and from there you will have 5 more years of sade sati. But no, don't combine transits from two different calculations.

Lampoftruth 999 same here. Everything was going ok, then it all started to unravel, and the more I fought (resisted) it, the worse it got, until it was all taken away from me. I can say that my studies and career direction has taken a different path and will improve, but the rest of what I love, felt safe with, is all gone now. I am in a state of shock and deep regrets.
There is probably something else doing on as well if you are feeling that beat up, especially after a long duration. Maybe a tough planet is maturing? How old are you?

Ernst so good....I find from D9 Sade sati is most important also...I just lost my lecturing job due to D9 Sade sati...Saturn in 9th house.
Saturn is in my 7th, my Moon is in the 6th house natal.. I am a Capricorn.. Saturn and I bump heads, but he also can give me strength.
So is a small Panoti considered a taste of Sadi Sati?

The placement is not that important, but what is important is just how good a condition Saturn and the moon are in the chart. If they are in bad shape a person will not do as much productive stuff when Saturn is in a good place and they will be more sensitive and suffer more when Saturn is in a bad place in transit.

Ernst Wilhelm Yes, I agree. Is this the case for Navamsa? I have the dreaded Saturn conjunct Moon in D9 - in Capricorn (in 9th). Great for Saturn, not for the poor Moon!!
georgiegirlize This is just for the transit of Saturn from the Moon in the rasi. And yes, it does have an impact in the placements as well, so Saturn on moon has that difficulty, but that should be analyzed better with avasthas.

I thought you were asking about years, not zodiacs, in which case the answer would be: In
respect to transits, no years are used exactly. The transit is there during the
time that it is there. We can use any type of calendar (year) to measure
that, though its easiest to do with western calendar in this modern world
simply due to it being used as a primary calendar. That is a saura based
calendar - though the months do not line up exactly with the true solar months,
they are consistent with the solar months.

I think if we are building the rasis according to the tropical zodiac (except for Nakshatras) and placing the planets accordingly, then the transit of say-today is going to be some baby chart who is born today-so same approach goes with tropical. Which is logical. Thank you once again.

Question: What happens during the time when Saturn retrogrades and goes back to the previous house? From Kala I see that Saturn ingress Scorpio in June 2015 and stays there for 3 months.
when it goes retrograde it just reverts to doing as it was before.

Is it possible that the effect of dasas override Saturn transits? The best three years of my life were when Saturn was going through the 1st from the Moon (and it was also Saturn antradasa). I wish I could say the same about 3rd and 11th transits.
Yes, dasas and also other transits all n eed to be considered to see just how productive a period is. I am not saying that Saturn from the moon will make life all good or all bad, but that when its in 3/6/11 we find the things that we can hold onto, even if we find those during very difficult times. This happens a lot actually as dasas are often difficult.

I have Moon conjunct Venus sun Mercury in Sagittarius in 9th house.. how will it affect other planets? Mars is aspecting it from second house.. I'm going through a hard time right now. Rahu and Saturn conjunct in 10th house with Jupiter aspecting it from 4th who is in conjunction with ketu .

Namaste ,do some spiritual remediable measures to mitigate negative karma which is sure to arrive during the next few years, fasting on Saturdays is key. Also Jupiter will be transiting your 11th house from September so things should be manageable for the most part til October 2018
