For you (and others in the comments) to complain that he puts on an act of friendliness in front of celebrities (but not regular people!) is just ridiculous. The show is one big advertisement! (including actual advertisements between segments) and your biggest complaint is how the host might be acting differently for the show than what he is really like?

Yeah you're right. Being introverts would be a big disadvantage in a setting like that. If normal people are nervous on national t.v. in front of celebrities and in a high pressure situation, I'm sure it's much worse for someone who's naturally shy. Some people's brains shut off almost when in that situation. I think it's the flight or fight reflex. In this case, it was fright, which can paralyze the mind.
