Today I went out to my county clerk office and paid 16.00 to establish my DBA but I used the address of the house I am currently renting since I will be using it as my office and studio. I also went ahead and applied for an EIN number on the IRS website using the same address. How do I go about fixing these mistakes, if they are even mistakes....I was late and jump then gun when it comes to having a virtual address... I noticed when attempting to apply for the DUNS number My landlord has two businesses listed under this address and I just watched you explain that this could cause issues and possibly combine our business credit history once I get fully established due to the address being the same.. thank you in advance if you reply.

Great Video, I learned a lot. I didn't realize I need to setup an entity. I thought all I needed was a EIN & DUN which I applied for. I hope I didn't mess myself up. I will go register an entity. About the DUNS if you use a home address while your waiting to find commercial property, are you saying you can never go back and update your DUN with your new commercial address before applying for a business loan? They kinda make it hard for people to start a home based business with hopes to eventually obtain commercial property.

Question 1: Not necessarily, but depending on your business type, it may make sense for SEO and local search results. But the address does not have to be in the same city or even state. Question 2: Both are on our recommended list so you can choose any of the two. 😉

If it is shared with others then you should talk with them about having your own unique suite number. You don't want a shared address with other businesses.

@creditsuite I had extreme issues getting a free DUNS number. The credit advisors tried selling me all the credit builder packages. It was a very hard sell (exactly like a timeshare) and to the point where it was uncomfortable. I had to tell him no several times and that I only want the free number. He then said for your situation, I feel you need this package and the free number will do nothing for you but I will send you a PDF with info about your free number. I don't believe he even generated me a number. What should I do and has anyone else experienced this situation?? This happened to me yesterday 5/23/2018.

Unfortunately you cannot add accounts to your business credit report, the lender must do that. Your Dun and Bradstreet number shouldn't be needed on your checking account, it's the number that connects your business with the right profile.

Using Home Address is not ideal in the eyes of Lenders and Credit issuers plus if you don't want it to be available in public you might want to avoid using it as business address. What do you need to do if you already have a business previously setup through Federal and State agencies and business bank account correspondence coming to your home address and also you have a UPS mailbox address for day to day business billing and other correspondence . Do I need to change all of these addresses to a virtual address to obtain business credit or just go virtual when establishing online domain , 800 # . 411 etc..

Unfortunately you cannot add accounts to your business credit report, the lender must do that. Your Dun and Bradstreet number shouldn't be needed on your checking account, it's the number that connects your business with the right profile.

You can’t use your actual home based business address but you also can’t use a virtual address???
Using Home Address is not ideal in the eyes of Lenders and Credit issuers plus if you don't want it to be available in public you might want to avoid using it as business address. Virtual address mentioned here are meant for those UPS/PO Box or iPostal addresses. Thanks for watching our video. No. You don't want to use the registered agents information when applying. That is only for legal documents from the state and federal government. It's a good practice to use a virtual office instead of home address as your business address if your business does not have a physical address yet.

When he goes into explaining what a virtual address is at 26:51 everything he says is basically the same thing as having a UPS Store Business Mailbox. Am I right or wrong? I have a UPS address and my business address is the address of the store with Ste. ###. This is ok right?
Actually you can not use a UPS box. You will need a virtual address.
So then what is the difference between a virtual address and a UPS Business Mailbox or any business mailbox for that matter?
The virtual office is an acceptable alternative to a physical business address. The UPS mailbox is not and create a red flag if used as such.
Just start a business and make money. If you are a tradesman keep the 40 hr and run the company on side at first, it’s never easy everyone wants free money to start a business, if you don’t have a guarantor you aren’t getting any free money or credit.
