Nova Terra: *wakes up* Ralof: "Hey you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there."
Though Stone and Pierce are original characters in NCO, Delta isn't, and if you want to know her past and how she and Nova went together to the Ghost Academy (along with Tosh, surprise surprise), read the Ghost Academy comics, which was established before NCO's storyline.
I recall that the story got a lot more interesting once the space gods were out of the picture. But then again, politics//infighting of Terrans and Protoss were always more interesting than what they wanted for 2.
This SC2 expansion...epilogue...thing in retrospect feels odd in its conception and applicability. Sure its neat making Nova the main and focusing on her, sorta fulfilling the wish of the scrapped Ghost game. Plus she has become a breakout character in her own right with her own backstory, journey and stories. But once again the execution feels less than thought with her actions in this game. Almost feels like she's becoming Nu-Kerrigan with how shes so vital to this small story and her impact on the three races.
NCO wasn't planned as the final campaign for SCII, it just happened so. More DLCs were announced first, and many believed they would tell about Tal'darim and Niadra, but alas.
It might be a hot take, but while Covert Ops was lackluster in character writing; storywise it is pretty good. Exposing and preventing a Mengsk favoritist's revolution is a neat concept, and Nova going rogue at the end (which was approved by everyone in the Dominion btw) is neat, and it develops Nova as a character for the first time (after the campaign already ended lmfao).
IDK what kind of character writing people expect in the goddamn RTS mini-campaign. Gameplay- and spectacularly-wise it's easy 10/10, in-game cinematics are on the level as well. A bunch of different biomes, various mission types(LotV missions objectives are SUPER UNIQUE!!!!), great replayabilty thanks to the hero/army customization.
But unfortunately, having a sequel to NCO is short of letting it become a reality because Blizzard will never ever set foot on making official SC2 campaigns as of now. The only hope of an NCO sequel is by reading those official fiction novels or comics like Starcraft: Evolution. Also, spoiler alert, but whoever butchered Alarak for not fitting him in even one single fiction literature is a warcrime. In short, he's never given even a mention, even in This Sacred Land comic where the Tal'darim were featured as the bad guys.
@@dimbasz Covert Ops lasted 9 missions. Each Starcraft 1 campaign lasted approximately the same, yet they managed to write characters that people love and quote to this day: Duke, Tassadar, Mengsk, Zeratul, Fenix, and of course, The Overmind (which had the least screen time, but still considered one of the best characters in entire SC) . So do not pull this "X can't be done cause I don't think it can". Starcraft itself has already proven it can be.
@@ilunfrost1006 Characters in SC1 were written so well that even an asshole such as Duke shined like a star. I can't really say this for any other character in SC2. Maybe Tosh since he offered some unique concept. A little bit Tychus too. But anyone else, EVEN Alarak himself were boring to me. Don't feel sorry for him being butchered in this campaign one bit since he was never live up to my expectations. (He impressed me in Ascension short story, but he's pretty much a letdown in entirety of LotV.)
I think it is an overexaggeration. I personally liked most new SC2 characters, but most of their characterizarion is hidden in inbetween mission dialogues, which, while is a huge downgrade compared to SC1, allows for more time and opportunities to talk about themselves like normal people, without interrupting the gameplay with sob stories.

The AI sent banshees to counter a hellion, a diamondback, and a vulture. Too bad for the banshees that these were main character vehicles that can shoot up.
It doesn't make sense about Ghosts being memory wiped repeatedly after graduating and finishing missions, they'd just lose everything they've learned and experienced.
The mind wipe can be a specific portion of an individual's memories, and although it erases those memories, it can also be for a limited amount of time before the memories start to flash back again. After all, mind wipes became standard procedure and it only serves to make them obedient to whoever is commanding them after Kerrigan proved that the psychic dampener is a garbage tool.
The funniest thing about this mission is the renamed abilities. The other two coop slots have their "break neck" ability renamed to "slit throat" and "crush head". I remember Jay, Grant, and Synergy losing it over that
Nova Covert Ops is a mixed bag for me. I really dislike stealth/no-build missions in RTS, but I really enjoyed every single build-section of NCO. I think it would of received more attention if the mini campaign didn't have the initial issue of being paywalled through 3-seperate micro transactions and released separately over multiple months. On top of the fact it was released after the three major campaigns which probably led to a bunch of people not realizing that there was another campaign (I'd assume there are a decent number of people that would assume that next campaign after Amon's defeat would just be Starcraft 3 instead). I also prefer this style of pacing in RTS too. Every mission feels significantly more important versus the multiple side-quests feeling missions that happen in the other campaigns.
That's a ghost, Lester. Sneaky type of Terran.

What were they going to expect...
To be fair, she was brainwashed, so expecting a Ghost with no memories to go rogue without any reason is unlikely.

Too cool for modern Blizaard.

I always like story that involve god in them, but sc2 story is just really not enjoyable probably because of kerrigan
putting a ghost in a room without detection, then tell her to cloak
Brilliant move, my man

It is such a bad choice of Blizzard to change Nova face, this version look so lifeless, plastic.
I agree, liked the WoL version more.

No simping.

I haven't seen the Nova campaign and this is most strangest feeling mission ever. Felt like MOBA more than RTS.
it gets proper RTS in later missions.
