Scott Fergusson pretty much any wild animal, especially big eared critters like deer and rabbits, will hear a mosquito fart half a mile away. When you’re walking on snow there’s nothing quite about you.
An odd thing I learned from hunting snowshoe hares, is if the first one you see turns left on the flush, all the rest will turn the same way on that day.
A great catch and cook and Ray's channel is also a favorite of mine. I do feel honored that someone of Riverbend Longbows caliber stops by on my channel and Instagram.... Anyways, well done Sir Beardsman on another classic. Full stop. 👍
Loved hunting rabbits with my Traditional bow and arrow. Always managed to find and shoot a few rabbits with the old recurve. Great job following it up and making a kill shot on it... Yes rabbits are lean critters meat tends to be dry and chewy if not slow cooked in stew or some sort of juices... Tried shake-n-baked one in the oven before... It was dry as a bone and as tender as leather... Something you only try once... LOL
Yes i got here before it hit 100 im addicted to your videos i honestly look forward to Tuesdays and Fridays besides taking the kids to school this is the first thing i do
That branch you were holding looks like a Balsam Fir. The red squirrel may have been eating the seeds out of a Fir cone. I'm sure that the Wild Crafty guy knows what it is.
Holy crap your actually speaking! Finally a video I can watch! I can't handle those ASMR videos! Thank you its been a while since you posted a normal video. I realize those videos are for some people but not for me. Nice edition with the new music as well. Keep up the great work.
"If there's an easier way you might as well take it right" Kind of the antithesis of this whole channel lol why not order delivery on your phone that's the easiest.
For those of us who are trapped in the 40+ work week to not survive but miss the homeland skip to 10:20 and you can regret joining the modern world from there.
Try using a arrow just sharpened or make a tip of antler ,when bunny hunting Cherokee indians used only a sharpened arrow ,no stone point often they use antler to make a blunt tip , just a bit of knowledge. The Sioux and many other native people did similar things
Awesome Chris 👍 Always good to see and know something I made is being useful. Hoping to get out myself tomorrow and get a few rabbits 😊 Congratulations on almost 900k subs👊
It's always harder to tell what the squirrel has been eating when it's all in a pile like that because they eat all kinds of cones from evergreen trees.... probably was a mix. Good show bud
Just a suggestion on the chewiness, like chicken and foul, venison, let rigamortis set in, 6-8 hours or the muscles will still be stiff. When you butcher/cook before, the flesh will cook up like a rubber ball. I found this out the hard way in the food-service field when an over anxious vendor sold us a bunch of rubber chicken we sold to restaurants. PO'd
I remember as a young boy I would take cottontails with my crossman 760. I would take them home after cleaning them in the field for my grandfather to fry in an old cast iron skillet. He would coat the pieces in flour, salt and pepper and lawry's season salt. Damn they were good.
Good work to Jay V, That is solid, Those tips were never meant to last they had 1 job, and butt shot or not it did its job. I always found blunt force trauma better for bow hunting rabbits, the fact it survived to a second shot is cool enough for me.
Jayman Newell thanks man. I need to put pine pitch glue over the wrappings, I watched closely and it looks like it cut through the sinew on impact with the rabbit. Pine pitch overtop will protect it better
Using a bow is something I could never get the hang of. When my husband and I go out I will do anything except shoot because I'm useless at it. Thoroughly enjoyed the video, and definitely a bit jealous that you can hit anything with an arrow...

"If there's an easier way might as well take it right?" Says the man who spends his life living as primitively as possible, haha.
PS: yeah rabbit is a weird animal it's always red in the middle no matter what like duck.
Perfect hunt.
Perfect cook.

I've been working on a self bow. It's nearly finished. I can't wait to try it out. Great video!
So cool!
Those are the remains of pine cones that red squirrels store and eat.
I didn't see any pine trees, only spruce, fir, and cedar. Maybe Hemlock.

Hello
NLGhostWolf keep your rabbits in the cooler covered in ice and water for about 4 or 5 days and they'll be tender then!!
Oh man! Yeah, I have heard that some people can pan fry them, but I have not seen anything that will work yet!

Maybe try smoking it over the fire to get the flavor, then stew it to make it tender. Best of both worlds!
