I've had a folding picnic table that is virtually identical to the one featured here, the difference is that mine is 60-70 years old, and is made out of thin hardwood plywood, and the hardware and fittings are metal (aluminum and steel) my father had it for decades before he passed it on to me. It is dimensionally identical, but weighs a bit more, I would wager it will outlast the plastic version by at least another 60 or more years, my son gets it next, I must add that this is hardly a new invention

About 40 years ago I bought one of these picnic tables in a suitcase to take around with me to car shows and flea market booths. I also bought an umbrella that had a shaft that fit the hole in the center when the table was opened. Saved my bacon many a time. Always had a place to sit in the shade and a nice table to eat my lunch and drink my beverage. Was billed as a kids'' picnic table but it was sturdy enough to seat adults too. Used it until it finally wore out. I think I paid about $25 or $30 for it. It was a fantastic gadget. I no longer do car shows and flea markets, so I didn't replace it when it gave up the ghost. Wonderful item and incredibly useful too.

My cousins and I sat on it at family picnics in their backyard in the late 60s, and through the 70s. And it was well used and worn by then. I had one I bought in Hawaii, like the one shown, of plastic I have used since the turn of this century. Lol I have that table!! I bought it off Amazon a few years ago because my family decided I’d be hosting Christmas one year! I figured it would be a great kids table and I could take it to school games. I also love doing crafts and it’s the kind of table I wouldn’t feel bad about cutting cardboard on. It’s really come in handy over the years. During quarantine, I didn’t even put it away. Then my dad saw it in the front yard. He thinks it’s the ugliest thing he’s ever seen and having it out where my neighbors can see it reduces the curb appeal of my house. Lol oh the scandal! What is that hideous blue thing in your front yard!? Burn it! No daughter of mine is going to have that in a place where other people can see it!! Lol. Yeah, I still have it. It still works great. And I’ve paired it with 2 taller folding tables to make a temporary workshop for my art in the front yard. Lol

I am fairly sure that most if not all of these inventions were in development several years if not decades. Some were probably mothballed and reviewed multiple times as materials commonly available at said times were not lightweight enough or not sturdy enough.
It is quite possible that those at TechZone and other channels like these were just ignorant about many if not all of them.
Quite a number of people mentioned that some of the products displayed were already available in the 1960's (maybe earlier). For Example the first portable and usable cell phone were available in 1973. Yes, it did not have the same functionality than those available today. But then again, neither did the first car.

It appears the company that made the white two position table is out of business.

Surpass isn't anything new. I had one of those table/chair combo's 30 years ago. I bought it at Kmart in Australia back in the early 90's. A cheap & nasty version of the same thing was available in the early 2000's at a chain called Cheap as Chips in Adelaide and in later years at the "The Reject Shop" (same city).

I am 52 and own the folding picnic table shown. I remember using it going camping with my mom. She gave it to me. This invention is not new.

Must modular stuff is stupid they don't tell you that basically in the beginning yeah it's wonderful but after a year or two when things start breaking down and nothing works and it's all a nightmare and the reality is the more moving parts you have the more chances you have for something else to go wrong it would make a little bit more sense instead of just living in tinier and tinier spaces so rich people can live in bigger bigger spaces that we all just live in more appropriate spaces
