if you are going for these kind of aesthetic, then you can also paste the a transparent png of a tree(if you can't find one, you can search for a jpg tree with white background, and do select+color range and pick the color white, invert then delete, copy to your workspace) Then with new layer above the tree layer, using alt click between the layer. With this, you can paint with any color. bonus tip: use gradient tool to have a variation of color.
Thanks! A small improvement to this workflow is to save the Ai and then Place it as a linked image into PS (file>place linked), this means that you can continue to update the Ai file and it will automatically update in PS every time you save the Ai.
For the tress (or other elements which you want to look more like a graphic, rather than real objects) I recommend using Filter -> Filter Gallery -> Cutout. I also had a problem with finding proper elements so now I find it easier to make them myself :D Great video!
Note that you can improve your "arch" lines; while drawing archs in sketchup, just imput number of segments... so you can avoid those "12 edges" arches settings by default (or use arches from the dwg imported). Great video by the way !

Great video and I guess we can do this in photoshop itself 😬. BTW it's a great decision that you've thought of doing tutorials on illustrator. Good luck 😊
You could if you wanted but you're supposed to use illustrator for the entire illustration. Although, you can do what I did in photoshop in illustrator but takes a little longer but the result is better! But, I'm not that experienced yet lol. Even the people were from illustrator because they are vector which I traced.
I am working with different layers for each colouring in Photoshop so should I do the same for Illustrator? For example, when colouring a building, can I erase a specific colour without erasing the other colours?
lovely work! quick question, when you removed the stroke underneath it weren't there white parts showing? I tried following the tutorial and when I removed the stroke there were white lines separating the colors and it seems that the paint bucket hadn't painted underneath the stroke earlier. do you know any tips for this?
First of all great video, it is very helpful! I am just starting with learning illustrator and you've already made it so much easier for me. Around minute 5 you mention that you somehow erased the lines. What's the easiest way to do that?
Probably the easiest way for me to get the same effect if I don't want to have linework is to just put it in layout without lines, so I don't have to correct them later.
Sure you can do it, the result will be more 'natural' because of you are drawing over a picture and isn't too straight as if you previously model it from SketchUp. Look @vistaenplanta channel you will see some projects from her using the technique you are describing. Greetings.
First of all, Your hardwork in details, Damn!!😍 Second, I loved that music, felt serene.😊 Third, I loved that swan too, seems like it flew away😝 Fourth, I wish i knew Illustrator. Fifth, As soon as Photoshop opened, u worked like a fastest moving train.😝😊 Hahaha Anyways, Thankyou for always showing a new perspective on how to do things ❤
Surviving Architecture Am thinking of getting illustrator but I wanted to ask you if Photoshop can compensate the things illustrator does? Or can Illustrator do other new things that Photoshop cannot?
Yes, you need to use both in your work flow! You use illustrator to do all of the diagrams, illustration line work, etc and then do any effect in photoshop.
don't know how to use illustrator, i'm stucked on some steps and couldn't continue, maybe using a plugin or addon which shows the keys you are pressing will be helpful before you're preparing those videos. thanks

Hi Habiba. I had the same problem but she had another tutorial that solves the issue Recreating Bartlett Style Architecture Illustration you can check it out. Select the pdf go to properties-quick actions=embed=release mask=ungroup. This should work.
there is an option on photoshop to generate illustrated trees that would fit really well in this collage I think it's on category effects or something like this I'll check this out later
Thank you for that! Will check it out. You can also do it on illustrator but I personally didn't like the result. It takes a bit longer to edit and refine ☺️

If you want to recolour all elements of the same colour at once in Illustrator you can just triple clic with the live paint bucket. Live saver!

you can also create them in illustrator. If you do an image trace and limit it around 6 colours you can create pretty flat people

The stroke is on a separate layer so you can just turn it off in the layers tab. Thank you watching and commenting :)

Yes, of course!

Which software did you use to export the PDF? Sometimes it happens to me and I'll have to ungroup in the 3D modelling Software ie Sketchup.

release the mask on the file and you'll be able to edit it
