Another great livestream. I regret taking this long (two years! since I got this software) to start watching your playlist. Outstanding advice, and his really stepped up my map game. One year I'll finish the large city I've been working on for a few months now. Longer still, now that I've had all this great advice from these videos.
Really glad you're enjoying the streams. We have some great ones lined up this month too. Here is the Stream & Video Calendar inkarnate.com/m/NX6GKk--october-stream-schedule/
Much thanks for the mountain range, I've been trying to create a regional map of a war and have been wanting some nice north alps. Though, I do personally think that Inkarnate should have some more fire stamps. Thanks for all of the explanations, really makes the map have more depth and liveliness.
Rivers can be frustrating. Especially when trying to replicate a natural flow. Following steps is the way to do it. Check out also these guides I out together. They should also help :) inkarnate.com/m/QRzVWE--guide-how-to-create-rivers-with-the-path-tool/ inkarnate.com/m/Ell2OW--guide-a-rivers-journey/
First of all I really enjoy your technique and the way you use every tool! The only thing that bothered me are some misconceptions, specially related to scale and Geology (physical Geography as well). I'm planning on releasing content about it, I hope we can all improve!
I must say this: DON'T make rivers like that. The water flows wherever is easiest to reach, so the energy behind the river actually dictates how and where it'll go. If you talk about flows coming from higher points (e.g. mountains,) you'll have higher energy leading to stronger erosion and consequently the river will carve a straighter path (braided river). It won't start meandering before losing energy nor follow the mountain range (at least it isn't common). Aquifers also plays a major role in everything, specially rivers and lakes (and oasis for that matter), it's because of them bodies of water can actually keep their levels (even outside the raining season). Glaciers and rain do contribute and serves as recharge for aquifers, but don't forget how crucial they are and their independence from mountain ranges.
How'd you do the set up for this template? I'm interested in the overall workflow, as well. Are these biome squares a "map" you create and then reference when creating another "map"?
I really like this tool, but it has the worst commercial system: pay forever. It is not only the lag (which bothers a lot), it is the uncertainty of the future of the tool you are using to work. Can't rely on a tool which I don't know if I will still having 1 year later, or 5, or when I finish my next novel. Also the lag still a problem. So I switched to FlowScape, and Wildshape, which are buy one time and use forever. I can pay for DLCs in the future, but I need to own my tool. Release an offline version plz.
Amazing. Thank you so much for this. I had no idea what I was doing until i watched this!
Great stuff. Thanks for the in-depth, clear explanations!
Thank you for all those explanations !

More fire stamps sounds good to me.
Thank you for this. It took me way to long how to figure out rivers on my own.

@@fgsk2023 Great thanks for the feedback. Take care.
Thank you for the feedback. Will keep that in mind in the future.
Hey I'm from Louisiana and the trees are usually in the water also in a swamp or marsh area
Yes they do indeed. Mangroves are my favorites.
Great, informative demos. I didn't understand the + and - explanation, though (at the top of the first 2 segments).
I will be sure to not do the +/- bit in the future. It was a lil confusing.
The desert time link is mistyped in the video description (56:60), so it's showing up with the swamp section.
Good catch. Should be fixed now.
👍
Sometimes when I use the paintbrush it will only show up on the BG; not the FG. Why is that?
Hey, they're separate layers. You can switch between the BG and FG with the 1 & 2 keys :)

Sorry for the late response Dread. I used the grid tool with the mask tool. Just use math :P
When placing the Mountains do you click (Hold) and drag or are you placing 1 at a time?
When making the main range yes I click, & drag. For the smaller mountains and foot hills I single click :)
