    I don't think it's "good for a Squier". I think it's a good guitar, period. They've come a long way. Nice review.

    I find that the biggest factor on indonesian/chinese guitars are the fretwork...if you can find one with good fretwork, you're 90% on the way to sounding like a guitar much more expensive.

    I have owned Fender Masterbuilt, still have a 1962 Strat and quite a few others too and this model holds it's own with all of them. The amp sounds like many available to us all, it's how you set them up. The key to this demo is the guy's talent.

    I have one, like better than my US standard.
    One small problem no tone on bridge pick up ( to much treble ) but a easy small solder job to rectify.
    Fabulous guitar.

    The whole Classic Vibe series by Squier are fantastic instruments for the price and amazing even if they cost hundreds more. You just can't go wrong. I have a CV 50's Telecaster Precision bass AND the CV 50's Telecaster with the Alnico 5 pickups. What a tone machine!

    That trem can be fixed with a Fender trem hole spring. Little known but a spring was meant to be placed in the bottom of the trem hole so once screwed down to a certain point, the spring will push and hold a moderate resistance so you can move the bar out of the way and it will stick.

    • @davidkastin4240
      @davidkastin4240 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those tiny springs are easily lost. I have used plumbers tape and it works fine also

      I learned a trick from Rene Martinez who was Stevie Ray Vaughan's tech : Grab a little piece of cotton, roll it into a small ball and drop it inside the cavity under the whammy bar, it will "cushion" the end of the bar and leave the bar where you want it...
      Neat trick...It has worked for me for years...If it's good enough for SRV...

    I bought mine shortly after watching this video, and I've had it for almost 7 months now... I can definitely say one thing: this guitar is a beast!!! It's hard to beat the quality/price relation on this one... It sounds killer with it's alnico pickups and alder body, it feels great on the hands (nice fretwork), it's easy to setup, it stays in tune amazingly well, it looks stunning, it performs great both live and in studio... all that american Fender quality in a relatively inexpensive guitar, it's unbelievable! When I bought it I was so excited I even took the time to learn the intro piece that Tom played in the video! Great playing as usual, I'm a big fan of his.

    Impeccable playing as always from Tom, who really pulls a top-drawer performance out of this Squier. I may be biased, (as I have a Squier CV 50's tele myself) but this guitar sounds awesome - even through my tiny iMac speakers!

    The tremalo bar is loose because you did not drop the spring into the hole before putting in the bar. If the little spring wasn't there, you can get a pack of them for a few bucks at a guitar shop or on line.

    Just bought one last week with slight damage for 150 euro, as I'd borrowed one from a mate on a trip to my home country recently, mainly because I loved the neck. He had Lollars in it. I'm putting a set of custom Kloppmanns in which I had on a hiway one strat I never got on with . I also had it professionally rewired and set up with top notch components. Looking forward to my mate flying in on Friday.

    This is 6 years ago. The last few years Sqire has made even more strides in making even more quality guitars. They have to, because there is now an onslaught of very inexpensive but very high quality guitars being made by other companies, like Harley Benton, Glarry, Firefly, Wolf, Grote, to name just a few.

    You provided one of my alltime best videos on youtube with your contribution ....
    I ordered this particular guitar from Session in Frankfurt, Germany for a favourable price as this series is going to end. It sounds exactly the same. I am very convinced! This guitar beats up with the American made strats, maybe with the Custom Builts ...
    The sound is even, bell-like and there are no piercing and harsh sounding elements ... Great!!!! This is my favourite guitar amongst roundabout 20 I own ... :-)

    Might have missed it.. BUT... full sized Alpha pots (could be better, could be worse), a box type switch (should be replaced with a CRL type), wimpy zinc inertia block (should be replaced with a heavier larger steel block), slightly thinner body (that means it's not as heavy as an American Stratocaster).
    I just bought one and I love it.

    • @infectionsman
      @infectionsman 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carl Rudd Agree completely, also the thinner body can be problem with block replacement as they can be too tall and stick out the back. Btw, box switches arent necessarily bad, i have had more CRLs fail.

    I have this one exactly. They're manufactured in China, but I think for this very release some stars had aligned or they subcontracted some skilled team, because fretwork is almost impeccable and instrument itself feels and sounds more like vintage American Strat, rather than Squier. I was very lucky to get my hands on this one and gonna keep for years, maybe upgrade tuning posts.

  • @KRAZEEIZATION
    @KRAZEEIZATION 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice tone and playing. The Squier vs Fender debate will go on forever but it’s like this, a guitar is only as good as the player. While Squier is a budget Fender brand, some of the high end ones are now the price of a Mexican Standard and better in some ways. I own 2 Fender MIM Strats, one MIJ Squier and one MIK Squier, and I’ve just decided to buy a barely used Squier CV 60 in CAR from a work colleague going cheap. The high gloss on the maple fingerboard of the CV Strats and Teles is a turn off the so I would only buy rosewood in this models. Used they are excellent value for money but I don’t think I’d shell out 450 for a brand new one. They sound very good, are nice to play and are great for gigging. The beauty is they’re guitars you don’t have to worry about and you can’t beat that.

  • @JustinHallPlus
    @JustinHallPlus 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Better grab one while you can, these are going to be worth some money in 10 years. I would say these are on par with the Japanese Vintage series guitars from the 80's, and those are holding value quite well.

    Some really tasty playing , you could probably make even a nasty Squire Bullet sound great but this is one of the best demo videos I've seen. Great Job Man !!!
    Does the 60th Aniv model have the narrower string spacing like all Squires or the full width bridge like the American made models ?? I know it's only an eighth of an inch but it makes a big difference to the feel.

      It is horrible. I've had mine for tree years. I tweaked every single day. It could not keep a setup. My god that neck relief changed every day. You couldn't not intonate it with more then 9 gauge strings. Trust me it is horrible. It looks like a Strat but it is not a strat. Good neck pickup but that's all. After 2 months the frets had huge dents. After two years they where unusable. Its a guitar just for strumming. Not soloing.

    Great guitar for the price. I've just got one today. Mine sports a gorgeous flamed neck which is what caught my eye. That's my first Chinese strat and I have to say, it's as good as my US, MIM or Japanese guitars. Will see how it behaves with time but playability is awesome. I confirm the finish is a bit thick on the neck but it's not sticky at all.

    So wait this is the same as the current Squier 50's vibe strat? According to Musician's friend it states the following for the above model:
    "2014 marks the diamond jubilee of the Stratocaster, but you'll strike pure gold when you get your hands on Squier' 60th Anniversary Classic Vibe ™50s Stratocaster. The instrument celebrates six decades of the world' greatest electric guitar with a truly gilded model featuring an Aztec Gold gloss finish and gold hardware.
    Other features include a maple neck with a comfortable œmodern C profile, 9.5-radius maple fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets, three custom vintage-style single-coil Stratocaster pickups with five-way switching, three-ply parchment pickguard, vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge with six saddles and vintage-style tuners. Case sold separately."

    I have heard some people say that these guitars do stay in tune when the tremolo is used whereas some don't.

    If you could be honest, wich is better guitar overall? between this squier classic vibe anny and a Fender Modern Player Stratocaster HSH with mahogany trans body.
    I would like to buy a "start line" strato for my home recordings, and this squier sounds and looks to me impressive, and here in Spain is same priced with a Fender labeled Strato Modern Player with a very nice mahogany body, but i´m not sure if the pick ups on that sounds as good as this pick ups from this specific squier, sounds so warm and musical, so...I have no shop here to try both, wich one , in sound, both looks awesome in each style, should be better guitar, squier ann? Fender modern hsh?...my ears think this squier wear better sounding pick ups than the Fender labeled modern player, both are china made, so, i can not decide in a blind buy.
