Dude you are a good source of information but I think you can do better if you try speeding up your discussion and not do so much repeating of information
What fertilizer should i use for my avacado trees, i have a Simmons, monroe, donnie, choquette and a brogdon
Hey Paul, my Joey gave me unripened Avacados for the first 3 years, then last year perfect. Maybe they just need time like a Joey
some times they may do that but they can always go back to giving you unripe. Better to have one you know doesn't do that if you can help it. Hopefully your Joey wont' do that anymore
All vegan males, old, on a whole food plant based diet, they all look great!!! They still have vitality, Ed Begley, Dr. Esselsteen, You! 🦋🥑
hey what about don gillogy avocado. can you do a review on that
you mean donnie?
How tall do day avocados get?
great Video, I have oro negro catalina and wurtz are all these good?
I haven't tasted a wurtz yet. Org and catalina are excellent
I found Wurtz to be pretty decent. The tree is on the smaller side, but it's productive and healthy. The fruit is clean and beautiful, and the flavor is in the mid-range--acceptable, but not rich, nice dense texture.
I'm from Dominican Republic and the avocadoes there are much better than here in USA.
The Russell is very good, only thing is that they are just called avocadoes, like black ones red ones green ones. And I don't remember any watery .
My current collection (from earliest to latest):
Donnie
Hardee
Simmonds
Miguel
Day
Super Hass
Lula
Taylor
Monroe
Kampong
Ronnie
Thinking of getting rid of Super Hass and replacing it with something else.
What's your favorite tasting one?
@@kayakphish Right now I like Simmonds the best but I grew up eating West Indian avocados, so taste is a very subjective thing. What I do like about the Simmonds is that it’s a workhorse. That thing just puts out avocados consistently, no issues.
excellent
@@somerandomperson1503 And I think that's important--that it's a workhorse. I contemplated planting Dupuis instead, but went with Simmonds. Same thing when it comes to Oro Negro vs. Monroe. Monroe is the workhorse. Paul says sometimes they don't taste that great, but, believe it or not, I've even had Oro Negros with no flavor (but when they're good, they're great). Flavor, to some degree, depends on how YOU grow and pick them. Make your soil as rich as you can and let your fruit fully mature on the tree. My Monroe is growing like a weed, much more vigor than Oro Negro ever had.
Brogden
In my opinion, the avocado is the single most perfect food. All are fairly good, but some varieties are much better than others. I think you have learned a lot my friend and it's great that you have shared this information with others. Bravo!
I want two trees..with 3 to 5 grafts..I dont have a lot of space but I need to know..is that going to stress the tree to much?
I can manage 3 trees at most but i want to be sure they are not over taxed.
I would like the early, med and a late on each tree..I love the larger variety!
What do i use as a great base tree specimen to graft onto?
Simmons, Dupree..any others? for early..
Day, Catalina, Chiquet (dwarf) maria black, improved pollock, miguel..mid season
aug-nov.
OroNegro, Ronny, Campong, Hall, Lula
Late season..nov-march
I think it best to graft your favorites on one tree or two trees depending on growth habit. Less space required…
Just picked 300 simmonds avocado for sale, homestead/redlands Fl. Shipping available.
Recommended Avocado: Simmonds, Dupuis, Day, Catalina, Maria black, Lara Pollock, Miguel, Oro Negro, Kampong, Ronnie. So I thought hard about how to get that tree, at least a Scion.
I don't like the Avocado's that are all seed, and also the rubbery avocados. Been having a hard time finding good avocados. I am in Cape Coral, Fl. You are so right on the storebought avocados. I have bought the most expensive and least expensive and they just aren't any good. I want to grow my own. Seems like all the avocados here are marked Hass, but not good, in supermarkets. I love Avocados but have been very disappointed.
I love avocados. // SHLM & HaB (peace & love). The Name of the Creator is Hayah Asher Hayah, as what He told Moshah (Exodus 3:14), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. Great educational video. I want to do something in my yard, here, in Texas. What I took away was do your homework first. Next year I want to make a trip to Florida to do some mango tastings and get more educated on avocados and some of my favorite trees growing up. Once I started watching your channel, I really started thinking about educating myself first. Thanks for sharing.❤🎉😊
I want a Pollock. That is what I had in south Florida. I just moved north to around Jacksonville. Not sure about the cold tolerance. What works best up around the Georgia border?
Contact Mike at Trees N More and he can tell you the best cold hardy avocados to get
Out of the trees on your list, I have nishikawa and wurtz. I got my first wurtz fruit around 5 months ago and wow, I was surprised by its quality. I didn’t think it would compare to a Hawaii bred avocado, but it had great flavor and it was more oily than watery. Nothing on the nishikawa yet, but looking forward to it.
keep us updated
Would you sell scions
Just subscribe to your YT channel. I'm in central Florida and want to plant a row of about 5 Haas avocado trees. How far apart should I go ? I want to plant them as close together as I can get away with. Also planting them right next to a row of Areca Palm trees. How far away from my Areca palm trees do I plant my avocado trees. I have a small vacant lot about 7500 square feet so that's why I need to plant close so I'll have more room for other plants, etc.
I would do no less than 15 feet but 20 would be ideal
I'm finding it puzzling that you keep promoting Day when you've never tasted it (violating your first rule of tasting prospective varieties several times) and have no experience growing it, and you go so far as making the claim that 100% of people recommend this avocado. I and several other people I know have found this avocado variety to be problematic and have had to remove the tree. You may be setting yourself up for another Super-Hass experience! Uneven-ripening, finicky, and no-vigor variety. Good luck with it anyway. But I just wanted others to know it's a far-from-perfect avocado, and there are better ones ripening in the same mid-seaon.
Thank you john you may be correct, hope not. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to tasting day this year. I know several people with them
Both of you guys. Do you have a recommendation for the “best” avocado for Corpus Christi Texas? Joey? I bought an super haas but am thinking about returning it.
For what it's worth, I bought a very young grafted Day avocado and it looks like it might die. Chlorotic and brown leaves. Added nutrition and it still looks sick.
@@FruitfulTreeshave you tasted a Day yet? If so, what did you think?
What is the name of the big avocados that you have? I will appreciate it if you let me know thank you.
Simmons are great big ones. Many big ones are not that great. But I don't remember what one you are talking about?
Erickson Farm has great avocados. Their Donnie avocado is excellent and had a long shelf life.
I have a Lula at my home and the best time to start harvesting is around Thanksgiving, earlier and it does not taste as good.
All my other avocados are still too small.
Kampong is excellent and I bought this one too.
I was told that Winter Mexican would not ripen on the tree and you could just pick a couple a day all the way from Nov-Mar and have them ripen on the counter. I am looking to plant only one tree in West Central Florida and thought I might choose Winter Mexican so I could have avocados for more months of the year. When you say they ripen unevenly, do you mean each fruit or the whole tree? Do I need to worry about having an A and B tree in Florida? Will I get a lot of fruit with just one tree? Thanks for the great info!
you will get more fruit if you have an A and B but you don't need it. All Avocados ripen off the tree. Each fruit didn't ripen even for me
@@FruitfulTrees Thank you!
oh wow! great listening to you
Would it be best to put early on one tree, late on one..etc..will it stress the tree to much if you pit one each on the tree?
Thank you for all the info you share..❤
Do the early, mid, and late season avocadoes overlap bloom time sufficiently to cross pollinate? For example can Simmons and Improved Pollock (both A type flowers) cross pollinate with late season Oro Negro or Hall (B type flowers)? I am in North Port, Sarasota County
not 100% sure but I think so
Question:
What place do you recommend for purchasing large avocado trees for central Florida (Polk County). I already have the Hall avocado fruiting for the first time.
I’m interested in Oro Negro and Simmons
Thank you very much.
Mike at Trees N More he is on FB. For Central Florida I'd go to him
Hi
What should I plant in north Florida? I can’t get gem or haas here.
Is Lila a productive tree? I have that as an option.
check your growing zone and it will tell you what will grow there I think you are 9a or 8b but double check that. Also see what others in your area are growing successfully
@@FruitfulTrees good idea thanks!!
By the way I will be growing in Arizona..
Do you have an opinion about the WURTZ (LITTLE CADO) avocado? The fact that it stays small sounds good for my small yard. The suggestion that it is a good self-pollinator sounds good. But what about the flavor?
I haven't tried it yet
You said everything you eat is a fruit, vegetable, or nut/seed. How do you get B12 vitamin?
Supplement
Texas Avocado grower I’ve grown super hass and got rid of it, Reed probably one of my favorite. The GEM is my favorite. Have a Lila, it’s great for cold tolerance, it doesn’t even flinch from freezes.
Winter Mexican is pretty good and Choqute is also pretty good.
If I could only have one it would be GEM, Reed, Lila, choquette, winter Mexican, then super hass.
Bought an avocado from a stand yesterday. Tried it today. I'm assuming Florida grown but what would be holding this late? It tasted amazing. Not super high oil. Sweet buttery flavor like my wurtz but less fat. Most closely resembles Hall based on everything I can find. I would like to identify it so I know comparison for what flavors I like. Trying to squeeze in one more tree with my two Wurtz. I am very happy with flavor and texture but they aren't super productive. Thinking maybe a type B so maybe Oro Negro. Maria B is type A correct?
where are you located, most are done now but you can still find some. Mostly what we have now is grown in Dominican Replublic. Oro is the best
@@FruitfulTrees I'm in St. Pete these were bought down near Bradenton though. They didn't have any label or import stickers so I though maybe local but did think the same that they must have come from elsewhere. Looked just like all the images of Hall and sure tasted good.
I recommend finding a list of avocado types and their oil content. The higher the oil content the more "rich" it typically tastes. The west indian types tend to have lower oil content than the Mex/Guat. varieties. This is why people often say they are watery tasting.
There is no such thing as a "wise choice" of avocado if the person isn't constrained to a small yard that can only have one tree. Some people are collectors and want different things. I have 7 different varieties from small little Hass that produce a lot to the full Marcus Pumpkin that does not but gives you gigantic fruit, all in Central Florida. Some people like the more dry and oily types and some don't care about watery fruit. There are lots of wonderful avocados that will thrive anywhere. Even the USDA maps that just came out show areas now with zone upgrades so people can plant less cold tolerant varieties. You basically can't argue taste. One will like it when others won't.
Thanks Paul, great video.
I would say the avocados they grow in hawaii like long neck ones should grow in south florida right? the hawaiina ones do have flavor just not a buttery as haas
everyone knows HAAS is the best tasting by far....
wouldnt like north florida be a good for HAAS just below jacksonville area by the ocean there?
actually some florida varieties can taste better than hass
I just ate avocados and planted the seeds. It's so simple. If you like the taste of the avcado you just ate, just plant the seed in a pot.Plant about 6 seeds in one pot. Water them and they will grow.
Im in Central Florida and have a beautiful Avocado tree growing in my yard, that I grew from the pit. Its doing beautifully too, and its the pit from the huge, smooth Avocados 😊
Thinking I'll try Simmons, catalina or day, oro negro for early mid and late season. Thanks!
Thank you sir for all the explanations. However, it is a shame that the recommended varieties you mentioned do not yet exist in Indonesia.
I’m 45 mins north of you and planted 4 avocado trees a year ago they shed their leaves and put on new one s they’re all alive and look healthy but 3 of them seem to be stunted haven’t grown much . Any tips or info would be appreciated
how often do you water them
What would you say is the best tasting/producing dwarf avocado. I have limited space and would need a dwarf variety.
maria black
Hey guys, I noticed that my avocado planted about 1 month ago has burned areas on its bark. I am almost certain it is sunburn as it is only in the direction of the sun.
Should i do something about it ?
Paint with 50% water-based latex paint or ready made solutions from IV Organics, etc. Also provide shade with 40-50% shade cloth during summer while the plant is young (first couple of years, at least),
painting with latex is hit or miss. Much more effective to buy a 65% shade cloth and hang the shade cloth on the tree. If you're in a hot climate, you're going to need a shade cloth (at least 65% shade cloth) during the summer months. I've killed plenty of avocados due to overexposure to hot summer sunlight or using a weaker (50%) shade cloth.
I'm in Tampa.
From 1 to 10 ( 10 best) where is Brogden in the scale
Taste is great of Brogden but too much seed and little flesh for me
Leaph is not answering through FB anymore. I bought 2 trees from him last November. Then he has disappeared.

Do Hass avocado trees do good in south Florida?
How do you feel about Carman hass ? Flavor and production
I tried it and liked the taste but I don't have a tree so I don't know the growing habit but my friend has it and says his tree is loaded each season
What do you think about the hellen and the Jan boyce?
does Cody cove farm and Nursery sell Scions of all the recommended varieties?
not sure contact them
Hi Paul , can you send me 3or 4 varieties to California?.
You can order from my friend at www.guacfarm.com
What are the best avocados to succession grow in orlando Florida, please?
new video on this coming soon
Best avocados come from Mexico, Michoacán Mexico
Which you recommend for Texas I have lambhass n Carmen doing great
Reed taste better than the hass varieties in my opinion, way better than carmen hass or lamb hass. Get a reed
@@WebSurfingIsMyPastime Good to know -- Paul suggested it for Cali @ 6:20. Do you have experience with Aravaipa variety?
@@0anant0 sorry, no experience with aravaipa
I've heard that Carmen is good, but Lamb Hass not so much. Original Hass is great.
@Simran Singh ok, thx! I have ordered one from epicenter avocados, here in California, so wanted to check.
Super Helpful. Thank you.
Avocado plants are too expensive. It seems it is just for the rich and famous.
a small try is only $35 but avocado sees are one of the most simple seeds to grow and it's free if you have a seed
so grow a seedling and graft a cutting from a friend or neighbour. a bit more work, but effectively free (costs only a seed, a pot, some soil and some time)
What avocado trees are best for planting in Sicily?
Your climate should be very similar to southern California, so you might want to plant what grows well there, for example:
Hass, Reed, Fuerte, Lamb Hass, Mexicola Grande, Pinkerton, Sharwil, Gem, Carmen, etc.
If you plant a Hass, a Reed and a Fuerte you will have high quality avocado for 10 months each year.
Swapping out Reed for Lamb Hass will get you to 11 months out of the year but many people prefer the flavor of Reed.
Or if you have space for 4, you can grow a Mexicola Grande, a Fuerte, a Hass and a Reed and you’ll have avocado all year long.
Thank you very much for your detailed reply. 😊
Wow
Is any gmo
There are no GMO avocados.
Good info,come see my yard
where are you located
@@FruitfulTrees palm beach gardens
I will have my mangos to..about 6 of them lol
Can you graft various mangos on one tree like you can an avocado?
yes
