Joey "the Rat" is great in a Tony run. You can easily abuse the system by making you items 'Well Maintained' so you can Discard them for money and they go back to your hand where you can then replay them.
I'm playing Sefina, and recently I had Double, Double and 3x Easy Mark in my opening hand (with enough other events to put in her basement). Gotta say, it felt pretty good.
I made a Finn deck using Fence to play the signature card for free and fast and tutor the illicit cards again and again. And while tutoring using Astonishing revelation to recharge the Crypto-something seeker asset. Fun deck but it still needs to be improved.
The real question on Alchemical Transmutation (2): is it worth the 2 experience? I feel that FFG does that a lot with 'most improved' cards, where you can look at the card text and now say "yeah, this effect is pretty decent, I can see myself playing this" and then in-campaign you get hit by the very real cost of spending 2 experience (and it is often 2 exp for the upgraded versions) on this card versus spending it on something else for which the exp cost feels super-justified. Too often the 'improved' version feels like it should've been an errata/mutation of the level 0. Point being that I'm not sure it's entirely residual hate against the level zero version (although I would rather be wrong, since I like previously-mediocre cards becoming solid picks).
I'm not too sure if its worth the 2 by itself (not enough sample size from me) but it's usually a card that I see myself upgrading once I finished upgrading my other spells for mystic. I usually pick up 2x arcane research and thereby upgrade it for "free" when I include the base copy in my starting deck.
@@Archdrew901 Heh, I have to admit that to me that more just speaks to how Arcane Research is a card that shouldn't exist (or rather ought to simply be Forbidden), and how Mystic cards shouldn't be designed with it in mind.

Mystic can struggle a little with card draw, but my go-tos are usually Arcane Initiate, Scroll of Prophecies, and Sacrifice.

A better way for it to be put is that it can give 3 willpower icons or 2 icons of any of the other 3 stats. Hopefully that helps!
