When the sun is shining this is a picture-perfect beach and a great alternative to the main beach in Patong but a lot smaller, so if you're looking at hiding away maybe Merlin beach is the answer.
Many people believe this is a private beach and only the residents staying at the Marriott Merlin Hotel can have access to this little gem.

No Tony, at low tide this beach is very poor because there is a reef just a few meters away and it makes swimming impossible. I practise very often stand up paddling and sometimes at Merlin when it is difficult to pass the breakers when falling in my feet get wounded by the corral. Okay to swim at high tide, preferably at spring tides. I also launch very very often from Tri Trang from high tide -2 hours to +2 hours. At lower tide Tri trang is also very rocky. Freedom Beach is great even if all the monsoon season the waves can be powerful and big.

Looking and planning to come here July 2023. We've stayed at the Merlin resort before Marriot took over and 100% loved it. ❤ Thailand 🇹🇭🙏 Thankyou Tony for showing the beach, but the grounds of Merlin is stunningly beautiful.. the pools, staff, beachview restaurant, etcetera etcetera etcetera(King and I) do come and experience this beautiful landscape.

Nice video Tony. Looks nicely secluded and much quieter than beaches with jet skis and parasailing.
