    It is indeed spanish and the loco was made by krauss- Mafei or by siemens in gemany.
    it is based on class 185 if my memory serves me correct.
    class 185 is a common loco class on deustche bahns network.
    thanks for posting this intresting repair video.

    Hi Bill. I'm a new subscriber and just wanted to let you know that viewing several of your videos has given me the confidence to try loco repair. Although I've been a model railroader off and on since my teen years in the early 1960's I have always been "mechanically challenged." But today my Bachmann GE 44 tonner (a small US diesel model) started making an unusual sound when running in reverse and I decided to dismantle it more completely than I had ever dared to before. I was able to find and fix the problem (loose worm gear housings) thanks to your inspiration. So you now have another very loyal viewer. Cheers from Wisconsin.

    Something different Bill, grabbed this Wike The Renfe Class 252 are a series of Bo-Bo electric locomotives, built by CAF, Meinfesa, Siemens and Krauss-Maffei for RENFE. 15 units were built for the AVE Madrid-Seville high speed line in (standard gauge version), and 60 units constructed for general use to Iberian gauge (1668mm). That motor looks something else, pity Hornby never used it for their diesels and electrics, after they brought out Lima.

    Bill, next time you use your tiny nut runners put a tiny piece of blue tack inside the socket, it will hold the nut when you undo it and hold it when you put back on.

    Well done Bill - nice strip down and repair. I know that car repair manuals recommend warming plastic parts that need to be removed to lessen the possibility of breaking the clips. I'm sure that your wife would lend you a hair dryer for doing that! The picks ups on that loco appear to be one of the best systems that I've seen - a pity more manufacturers don't follow that example. Cheers.

    Wish there was a way to get those axles with the gears on them .They look exactly the same as the MRC/LIMA ALCO 420 . Seeing your video confirms that the bogeys ,or trucks as we call them in the US are the same bolster less designee.The axle gears are known to split over time and nobody has them.So now not running untill then.Seems the gold motors are the same ,but flywheel different.Any ideas? Thanks .

  • @russellbenton2987
    @russellbenton2987 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow . Looks like a tricky one . The more modern the model , the more complex they seem to get . Wonder if that is the same mechanism as is on the Class 67 , which I think was the last Lima loco produced for British market

  • @gerardburton3741
    @gerardburton3741 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Bill, considering that that is a HO model. Just how much bigger would it be if it was 00. Massive. As you say a shame about the pantographs and upper electric fittings. It only has a coupling at one end. Did this engine come as new as this or has someone cut the missing one off. All the best

    Hi Bill, this is not a comment about the current project that you are doing, it concerns a Triang DMU. The power car suddenly stopped functioning and I would like to know if you would be interested in having a look at it, and possibly doing a repair on it. Regards David Stead

    Hello,
    I really enjoy your refreshers on loco repairs especially the quality of the close-up camera used during repairs. What type of camera is it? I need to record electronic disasemblies and repairs to aid my memory.
    I really love the attention of the orange maintenace workers in each scene. A small by very enjoyable touch.

    All you need to know about RENFE's Class 252 locomotives.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renfe_Class_252
    One of the types they were purchased to replace was the English Electric Class 277 built for RENFE at the Vulcan Foundry in the North of England, which has family resemblance to the Deltic and Class 37. Back in the day when Britain built and exported trains all over the world. How times have changed, now we have Class 67s built in Spain running on the UK rail network.

    The quality of continental locomotive mechanism's is far above Hornby and bachmann.

  • @richardgraham65
    @richardgraham65 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Years ago, people seemed to buy these engines ranging in quality, Fleischman, Bachman, Graham Farish, Hornby were some of the top of the pile in the UK, Lima were the ginger haired stepchild, terrible quality, pretty much the worst junk available! No one bought them unless they were desparate.

    • @davidhunter2988
      @davidhunter2988 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "Worst junk"!? So bad in fact that Hornby have kept the body mouldings in use and retired their own 37s, 47s and HSTs. The Lima motors are just as good as the Hornby ones from the same period and easy to maintain. Properly looked after Lima locos run very well. Being a fraction of the price of current day models they are perfect for customisation and repaints.

  • @Locknut61
    @Locknut61 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Continental modellers wouldn't put up with the poor quality UK outline models. There's some serious competition in the market.
