Looked back at this tonight and compared it to greater goods video, he had his air flow on the fan going into the miner and if I'm not mistaken you had yours pulling it out... That could make the difference you were looking for originally..
Ha ha! I had a feeling it wouldn’t make much of a difference but I’m glad you proved it out so I wouldn’t have to. Great video and thank you for all you do for the community.
Great video! This is exactly the video I was looking for! I was thinking about getting this AC infinity fan. I have seen the huge fluctuation in hash rate too from 75-130.
have you tried inverting the wind flow of the 120m fan? as i see it your blowing the hot air and mixing them inside the unit because the 2 fans below is blowing upwards and 120m is downwards.. just my 2 cents
Great job as usual. Once you get the 24 hour results I think you will find out if the fans make any difference. My KS0 fluctuates on the 30 minute and 3 hour but the 24 is fairly stable. For reference currently 3 hour 111, 3 hour 101, 24 hour 96. Temp 1 46 temp 2 53. Keep up the great work. ......added temperature
Thanks for checking it out. There were a few times I thought mine was doing better when it ran a little warm! I guess I'm lucky, my fans are quiet. I put the 120 fan on mine just cause I spent the money on it but not sure it makes a difference. My hashrate varies widely but averages 97 over 24 hr so it's within 10% of advertised. Done messing with it, just stacking KAS now.
Great idea to test. Cooler miners typically yield higher hash rate. So I've purchased a U1203 120mm Fan USB Powered Fan from Amazon to cool mine when it arrives tomorrow. Thanks for the insights!
Put it on top of the AC vent if you love ib a moble home it cool alot better imo I m running one kso and it never get heated love your video keep it bro.
Is it possible to plug the KS0 on socket when there is no light and it turns up (on) when the light comes in my absence????? Please someone should help me with a reply. I mean does it need manual way to switch it on? Or will it automatically turn on itself when the light comes up?
A fan on top of the “heatsink” case is only going to pull air from the outside of the miner, around the grooves, not actually pull air through the miner
i love my KS0 miner I have the fans running at 35% in the living room, you can't really hear them. Temperatures are below 50 degrees, 24h hashrate 96 GHs greetings from germany
I've been running my big shop fan on mine with good results but my new KS0's that came in I wanna put next to my node pc. Can you tell on the KS0 board that there's a 4 pin connector in the middle up from where the fans plug in? Does it say what it's for on the board?
Well I am glad I did not get a dud. I purchased 2 from Iceriver directly. One is very steady consistent hashrate but the second one is all over the place. I thought for a bit that I may have gotten a lemon, but they average about same. I did stick some Noctua fans on top and dropped my temps but 5 -10 degrees, with zero performance gain tho they are definiteley not hot to the touch anymore.
Thanks for the video on this! I was on the same path myself and found that simply directing a box fan onto the KSO cooled it better, but made no significant hash gain. Also, my 2nd unit which is 3rd batch I believe has very high spikes in hash rate compared to my 2nd batch unit.
A small way to lower the temperature at KS0 about 2-3 degrees! I have looked after opening the Miner times the internal structure and I noticed the following. The motherboard is screwed with the 8 spring screws against the upper part of the housing (heat sink). I noticed that the board has a relatively low contact pressure against the heat sink. I have therefore removed the board and the lower brass spacers filed off about 0.5mm and then ground clean. Cleaned properly afterwards with isopropanyl alcohol, the Asic chips again with new thermal paste and then everything reassembled properly. You have to imagine if the contact pressure is too low, the heat generation of the Asic chips can not be transferred properly to the heat sink, this is now much better and you can feel it clearly in the heat generation of the case! Only as a small suggestion for those who want to open the KS0 also. My temperatures before the modification and after: Temp1: 36 degrees Temp2: 41 degrees Temp1: 32-33 degrees Temp2: 37-38 degrees 50 percent fan speed.
lol ive noticed on mine i set fans to 50 and i have an indoor fan i use pointed at the iceriver it seems cooling the whole thing seems more stable and when you set internal fans to high it becomes unstable very odd.
You could change the thermal paste/tape out and out and see if any change? If they are in the safe range I just let mine do their thing. Great coverage brudddaaa.
Great informative video as always. I would try the AC fan blowing on to the unit so that heat is pushed out the side fins rather than pulling. The internal fans, have you tried turning them around to see if any difference? temps do seem pretty good regardless, I'd just like to see other variations.
Ive had mine up for about a day and a half, and using stock fans set to 50% and mine setting flat on a "bar style rack", my hashrate on on 2miners fluctuates as well. Sometimes to the upper 60gh. Both are maintaining 39c and 47c. I have a few 120mm pwm fans mounted behind (previously set up that way) that blow across and two blowing down to circulate the air. What internet service do you use? Just curious as to the impact the service may have as im on a very lousy viasat service
I have two KS0s and am thinking of adding another one or two. I know they won't ROII for a long time, but if Kaspa pulls it off, it's gonna be a really good time. :) Btw, I read somewhere that IceRiver will stop production of the KS0 pretty soon, so DYOR and decide fast. Happy mining!! :)
Good stuff. Thanks for doing the work for us. I was considering doing something like this when I do get my miners. Still waiting to get my 2 KS0 miners. I am sure by the time I get them they will no longer be profitable.
Hi, Thank you very much for the video. From the feedback I have seen online, I understand that the miner is less hot with the 120mm fan installed. You started the video by pointing out that the miner was very hot but you have not provided info whether or not the fan helps getting the miner cooled down. Please could you let us know> On another subject, potentially that could turn into a video, I see those KS0 can now mine using Nicehash. Do you think there would be a difference in incentive between Kaspa pool and Nicehash or other mining pool? Thank you in advance! Cam
Why ur ghs shows less but profit more ? I have more then 400 from 2 Ks0 pro , it total , but 0.81 Kaspa in hour ( what that’s mean ? Sorry for question , I’m noob
I have read here about people who restarted the KS0 miner after overclocking. I was able to reproduce the whole thing on one of my miners. It is a thermal problem! Since there are manufacturing differences I have my Miner times considered and a very important point is, the front and rear panel! This should not be directly at the bottom of the counter-screwed base plate, there should be a gap of about 0.5mm wide (fingernail thickness) so that an air circulation can take place here! Because this is important so that the Xilinx processor is cooled well. In my Miner which is restarted at a certain temperature, I have therefore the front and rear panel below grinded off about 0.5 mm and since then no reducible restart!
Aside from being the same temp, what is the wattage draw difference, if any? Lets be real everyone is looking for "peak efficiency". So are the Noctua's any more efficient? Even if it were 1, 2, or even 3 watts it could be a worth while upgrade down the road for some people.
Seen my hashrate range from 85 all the way up to 135 with me doing absolutely nothing. This thing does what it wants. Anyone experience the ice river gui going blank? Mines been blank for almost a full day despite refreshing and logging in/out. Machines still hashing
Do you know what that tells us? That Engineers already built it up correctly. Don't even bother adding or changing fans unless your room is boiling hot.
i also Have a KS0 i bought a 120mm usb fan just for peace of mind i guess and because i seen the mount on the top of KSO and had to buy the fan with miner witch i also did not see any change in hash-rate still a nice miner too mine at home its at a all time low in payout at the moment but still 500 dollars a month and looking too buy three more just because i like too mind and looking too buy the all new whatsminer m53s+ 312ths crazy this is not for home mining 277v to 480v just too let everyone know thanks for showing us all i was wondering this myself about the small fan switch out its good too know .

Just ordered the Iceriver KS0, hands down I can't wait to get it started and love watching your vids! Peace 😊
Thank you hobbyist for opening up the KSO to show how to replace the internal fans. Keep up the great work.
A great video as always! My KS0 arrives next week. So excited about possibly winning the AC Infinity fan. Keep up the great work.
I'm loving all the tests you've been running with the ks0 and 0 pro. It's like every time I think of something your putting out a video on it 😂😂
Looked back at this tonight and compared it to greater goods video, he had his air flow on the fan going into the miner and if I'm not mistaken you had yours pulling it out... That could make the difference you were looking for originally..
Thanks for always delivering some of the most informative and educational content on TH-cam, keep up the great work man.
Dude this is the most helpful video I've watched in a while. Thank you!

Love your videos on this miner. Can’t wait for mine to be delivered
Cool (pun intended) video! I'm still waiting for my KS0 to arrive from Crypto Miner Bros. Thanks for your content!
Thanks for testing effectiveness of additional cooling on the ks0!
You bet!
Thanks for doing the research man, someone's got to look into this. My KS0 is due to arrive on Monday! 🙂
Great video! This is exactly the video I was looking for! I was thinking about getting this AC infinity fan. I have seen the huge fluctuation in hash rate too from 75-130.
Nice vid! You now gave me an idea to reduce the noise on my power supplies. Thanks!
Great video! Always looking for content on the KS0 mine arrives next week
Thanks for all you do for us future miners.
Nice video! will be doing the fans when i overclock my ks0 :) take care
Greatly appreciate your very informative comparison of the cooling fans for the miners 🥵🥶🤑

upgrade firmware to get a more stable hashrate my temp is about 31 43

Thanks for the video, I have one iceriver kso s I wanted to change the fans also. Thanks. You saved me time and money when the result is the same.

Great vid, love all the info you provide. :)
Nice cooling device, that too with USB. Definitely going to get ti increase the life of the hash board. Thanks for sharing this
Thanks, do you know what size screws you used to secure the 120 mm fans? apologies if this is a repeat question.

Something nice to say. Love your smile 😊
It sounds like a wire is hitting the fan blades. Thanks for the video. 👍
Great video as always... I am using 4 simple exhaust fans for my rig.. 2 intake 2 output 👍
A fan on top of the “heatsink” case is only going to pull air from the outside of the miner, around the grooves, not actually pull air through the miner
Great idea to test, normally cooler miners yields higher, thanks for testing!
Is there any way to make a WiFi interface for the KS0? I want to spread these around the house for heat this winter.
You could do Ethernet over Power or you would need to buy some Wirleess Bridges that Convert Wifi to Ethernet and plug the KS0 into that.
i love my KS0 miner I have the fans running at 35% in the living room, you can't really hear them. Temperatures are below 50 degrees, 24h hashrate 96 GHs greetings from germany
Those KS0 are so hot! But yeah, my reported temps are never above 60C, so I've just let them be. That's completely acceptable for most electronics...
That was good! failure IS a lesson. Don't take it the wrong way. 🙂
I've been running my big shop fan on mine with good results but my new KS0's that came in I wanna put next to my node pc. Can you tell on the KS0 board that there's a 4 pin connector in the middle up from where the fans plug in? Does it say what it's for on the board?

Is the 120mm fan being used to send cold air to the KS0 or to pull hot air out?
Pull air away. Does a great job

Hopefully I will be getting my KSO soon. Would it make a difference on the airflow direction of the add on fan?
Great video Hobbyist! thank you for the experiment lol
For the noctua fans. Did you keep them in the same airflow direction as the stock ones or did you flip them?
Great info. I like how give your content to us.
I appreciate that!
Would love one of those fans thank you very much 😍
Thanks for all you do!!!
Great videos...keep up the good work. Have you used Nicehash at all with the KS0?
Thanks for this video. Do you think you could do a noise test oem fans vs noctua fans? I hate the screechy sound of the oem fans
Mine when up to 302 at one point and the lowest was 47

I'd be really love to see you test a higher wattage PSU with the KS0, to determine if it provides a more consistent and elevated hash rate.

As miners we think of thermal trotle. The issue with ks0 is found at the pool. Imo.
Mine goes from 75 up to 124. Up and down all day everyday 😢
you should face the exhaust of the 120mm inward too. just for comparison, never know since your doing an experiment
Could be but those holes are designed to exhaust the heat
I resolved this fan issue.
Nice video. I was to tried this myself, but you did it for me. Thx
No problem 👍
great vid. i had 4 of them but just sold them because hashrate rising so fast

I think u came out even on that one brother 😅😅😅❤
I keep my KS0 cold and i have seen hash rates as high as 183 gh, so maybe results will vary.
more KS0 video please, I wonder can I solo mine to my own node, but using zelcore wallet address as the payout.
Yep
You need to change to airflow so it I’ll intake
Sorry to draw attention, mount the fans backwards. Air is to be pushed against KS0, not to be pulled. I'm talking about the fan outside.
Gans are installed property airflow is through the unit. Small Noctuas pull in air. 120mm pulls air and blows up and out.
Do you know what that tells us? That Engineers already built it up correctly. Don't even bother adding or changing fans unless your room is boiling hot.
