Great video this one. I have never thought about grouping adjustment layers so I can mask the set off before. Many thanks for all your hard work creating these videos. I don’t watch them all, only the ones that interest me. It is obvious though just how much you put into them, and into listening to your audience. Really makes your work stand out from the crowd.

Hi Karl, thank you for your insights on my picture!
It was a nice product to shoot, with this frosted glass and dark/gloss logo. I tried to emphasize the front of the bottle during the shoot compared to the side, and it was challenging because of the quite soft corner. Seeing this retouched, its worth enhancing it with a little bit more contrast, so thanks again!

Fantastic! That was I was dealing with yesterday - again! Video/series that would be focused on dealing with contrast imediatelly during shotting woud be very helpfull too.

First of all, beautiful shots by the photographers and thanks for sharing to benefit us all !
I think I would go the same direction in editing to boost the contrast of those colours to generate some separation, however following your edit I went back to the original and I can also find myself in the lower contrast version. They are both very appealing to the eye.
But lowering the contrast of that glass rod was a genius idea.
    Thanks for sharing !!

Question: on the second image, I’m not clear on the hero. From my perspective it’s more of an art photo, rather than particularly a product shot. So if it’s a product shot, yes I would also make it more punchy. If it’s an art shot, it could be punchy, or perhaps work on a feeling of transparency. Karl, how would you approach a piece that feels light and airy and very transparent ?
