I do hope Valve takes further steps to curb these sites going forward with CS2. I won't lie, in high school I definitely gambled and bet on all kinds of sites. I remember being pretty angry about their initial tightening of the API a while back, but looking back I definitely shouldn't have been allowed to do even half the things I was. Hopefully they keep snapping back at each other and the 'scene' eats itself alive. Would make for easier cleanup when the time one day comes.
As a skincel myself, although I don't own that big of an inventory and will gladly admit that I'm properly mentally ill xd, I'm not ashamed to say that I had those delusions once and I'm glad that Richard has put out a video like this to both educate/enlighten me about why skins don't matter at all and will never matter and to put me in my rightful place so that I can grow the fuck up. Nothing but respect and love to you Richard for being a man full of integrity and decency and for being the rock solid pillar of Esports and CS in general that we really don't deserve, you are a benefactor of the race and your contribution to both journalism and culture is significantly underappreciated and invaluable, and supporting your work has been an absolute privilege 💖. would love to see you cover the world of football betting one day, apparently they are passing a bunch of new laws trying to curb regular betters to stop losing money and its causing a lot of bookies to lose customers
In France we cannot gamble on esports and we had something similar where the gambling operators would refuse to pay some winners. Since then, the law cracked down on those operators and now the only thing they can do is "limit" the bets of their clients. They don't even have the possibility of refusing their bets or they lose their license. And even with that, the operator has to provide a legal reason for the set limits if the player decides to go to court.

Please discuss the Kotaku EA FC Ultimate Team article trying to justify Men and Women being rated the same in a competitive game mode. Please explain how the inclusion of Women in the same game mode won't solely be used to troll and grief. EA FC basically doubled down when asked about it. Kotaku had ultra-feminist #1 write an article calling everyone who disagrees a bigot. Mbappe and Sam Kerr are both rated 91 and while entire rating lists have not come out yet, it does not make logical sense to have Women rated the same as Men in the largest video game representing a sport where professional Women players are routinely beat by 15 year old boys' academy teams... This decision by EA is disguised as a means of "inclusion" to spread the game to a larger female audience, when in reality it's only there to make it harder to build that teams you want in Ultimate Team by requiring more play time or microtransations. Since now there will be a huge pool of female players to add to the standard pool of garbage silver and bronze players that will never be used competitively. I would have to guess that

But valve is the biggest problem here. They have every right to take away there API but they choose not too. It makes sense for them to allow this to happen and turn a blindeye. Why would they take away half of there player base, they make a lot more money with gambling being somewhat allowed then not
Tbh I used to love csgolounge and betting on games with skins. Although I think it being banned was a blessing in disguise because I would probably be homeless otherwise 😂 I cant believe there's still websites out there trying their luck at running only casinos with skins, it's even worse knowing that people like sparkles make shitloads of money off it, lose their sponsor then just move onto the next one without a single fuck given.

Let me preface this by saying skincells are indeed mental - that said, Valve is in no way innocent for any of this, in fact I'd go as far as they knew all along what they were doing & they are only making changes when literally forced to by litigation/overwhelming pressure. I know the likes of Riot/Blizzard are universally deemed scumbags by sane people, however I'm always impressed how Valve gets to stay quiet and apparently quiet = good, the focus almost never lands on them as having done "the bad thing".
