    Fantastic video mate, HUGE thumbs up for your determination to go plane spotting in these weather conditions! :D

      Thanks haha! Was perhaps a bit of a stupid decision, thank god I had my mates car to camp out in when it got really bad!

    Awesome video, New Brighton was extremely windy too, today!
    I find it interesting how more Airbus aircraft manage to get down over the B738's, for instance. I think the FBW has an impact on this; Fly-by-wire (FBW) system in the Airbus really shows off in situations, like such (I think this is why more Airbus where successful at landing).

    • @Dutchbird757
      @Dutchbird757 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Flying the 738 myself I know she's tricky to keep within Boeing's 'Stabilized Approach Criteria' on days lik these. I don't know the Airbus's criteria.

      Cheers! It does seem like Boeing had more of an issue than Airbus, but that can just be down to company safety limits, Like Ryanair have wind limits lower than the required amount. Meaning theres a good safety margin!

    Insane winds! Great filming! Huge like from me!

    Diverted to LBA because of winds, that's a first. Great filming in those winds

    Really cool video. I was on the Easyjet flight from Faro (I think the second Easyjet plane at 1:26?) Very smooth landing under the circumstances. Pilot did a great job.

    • @AviationUpclose
      @AviationUpclose  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Yeah that's your plane, one of the few that didn't have to go around!

  • @Quasihamster

    KLM, Ryanair, Icelandair, all Boeing: Going around, diverting, declaring emergencies.
    British, Easyjet, Thomas Cook (Airbus): "It's strangely empty on the tarmac today!"

    I'm assuming the Ryanair 737's were practising touch and go on purpose!!

    Great video, seems like the Airbus does much better in high winds than the Boeings !

    • @JustinLHopkins
      @JustinLHopkins 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      airaction2257 Lol, highly doubtful. I think your bias towards Airbus may be clouding your judgment.

    • @airaction2257

      I'm not Bias towards any Airline manufacturer they both have good & bad things about them.

    • @jsheridan2793
      @jsheridan2793 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      airaction2257 I noticed myself in a lot of go around videos the airbus planes are usually less likely to go around. They seem to perform better in high winds

    • @JustinLHopkins
      @JustinLHopkins 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Sheridan OMG, stop. Both types are held to the same standards when being built. There's other videos of nothing but airbuses performing go around.

    • @AviationUpclose
      @AviationUpclose  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It all depends on a number of factors, yes it is true that the were more 737 go arounds. But the fact of the matter is. Ryanair have strict limits on the amount of windshear pilots are aloud to land in, hence why a lot more of them abandoned the approach earlier on. Plus you have to remember the wind wasn't always as bad at some points, explaining why there was a run of about 4 planes that landed fine first time, then another 4 that all went missed!

  • @lasvegascwo1376
    @lasvegascwo1376 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sensible pilots declare a missed approach if conditions are too iffy. Either go around and re-enter the pattern, or if more than one missed approach... try for an alternate airport.

    Ryanair pilots should have better simulation training for bad windshear

    • @AviationUpclose
      @AviationUpclose  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They receive enough training. Its standard procedure to abort a landing in windshear that low down. So they actually followed all the correct procedures
